Today my boss asked me to prepare him a function that would change table cell's background when a link inside this cell is clicked, and all others cells to default background.
To achieve this I used:

Now that works only in IE and in Mozilla once I click a link inside a cell, then some other link - the first cell keeps its pink background.
As a JS rookie I've managed to toggle specific backgrounds on multiple mouseovers. The code below does exactly what I want, but I'm not quite satisfied with the way it's done.The definite webpage will contain a lot of projectboxes, and for each project I need to add two functions in my script. Not very efficient. I'm looking for a single function which works in the same way, preferably making use of an array where I can add new projectimages.
I made some twitter backgrounds for a small section that I'm adding to my website.
How do I make it to where users can install my backgrounds with the click of a button, so that they don't have to upload it manually? Here's an example of what I mean. At the bottom, it has something to where the user's twitter connects to the page and installs the bg with the click of a button.
I'm attempting to create a mini slide show of rotating image. I'm using jquery cycle lite: [URL] and png fix [URL]. I've used both before and don't seem to conflict with each other. However, in previous incarnations I was applying the cycle to a set of inline images. This time, I'm attempting to cycle through a set of DIVs using background images. [URL]. (See the image in the upper left with the colored border). As you can see, it works fine in Firefox. In IE6, it works, but the PNG transparency flickers on and off. In IE7, the entire image flicks on and off. Either with these particular plugins or another combination?
I am doing a form for my site and would like to enable and disable a radio button set depending on whether one of the choices on an outer radio button set is checked. How can I refer to all the inputs of the inner radio button set (they all share a common name) with javascript. I tried document.getElementsByNames('thename') but it doesn't work. I know this is because this method returns an array which you must then refer to by a specific index number, unless there is another way. I would like to refer to all of them at once and then set their disabled status to false.
I have a dynamically generated table, filled from a database by a perl application.
Each row represents a database record and has a 'status' and a unique 'id'.
What I want to do is create buttons to hide all rows with a particular status. The code to show/hide is relatively easy, but how do I turn them all off at once?
Several ideas I had:
1. Set the tr's 'id' attribute to the status (eg 'open') and then set that id to display: none. But that only turns off the first one.
2. Do the same but somehow loop over all elements looking for that id.
3. Set the tr's 'id' attribute to the status plus the data's id (eg 'open.24') then loop over all elements matching the status with a regexp.
4. Doing something else that I haven't thought of yet.
I am working on a customised scoresheet for a Bible Quiz group. Basically, I want to click on a box and have a box come up with options for correct and incorrect. I just want it to affect the score for that one box. However, if you click another box, it changes all of the boxes.[URL]..Click the 10, 20, or 30 in the top left corner. It should update the points under the 4. Click on any of the boxes assigned to a person on the grey line. A box should come up with a Cor (Correct) or Incor link. Click on either option. Then click on another grey box and do the same thing. I don't want all of the points to change when one person's score changes. Does that make sense?
I have a nice little script that changes a company's logo (displayed in a side bar) when the user mouses over a part of an image map.

My question is, how can I get three different images (company logo, weekly price chart and monthly price chart - all of which are in an image folder on my server) to change on this one mouseover event. I tried replicating the function three times and altering each function's name but that ended up screwing the whole thing up.
Is it possible to swap the link image that is hovered with another image and at the same time swap different images on another place on the page? I was trying to do it in CSS but I couldn't figure out how to do both at the same time. Basically I want to go from:

I have two multiple select inputs. Initially the first contains a bunch of items and the second is empty. Using a common method, I move items back and forth by double clicking on them.
This portion works perfectly, but I would also like to change the background color of the select element with the current focus. I have defined the following classes:
Using the following function below I am able to shift the background color of rows containing content, but the color of the empty rows remain the "selected" color. How can this effect be achieved for all rows, whether they contain content or not?
I'm not entirely familiar with jQuery coding, but I've given it my best shot to get this script working properly, and I can't seem to manage it. I have a page with 2 product forms to add to shopping cart each form has the same fields. when someone changes one of the dropdown boxes depending on the size it is to change the price to a certain value. This works ok whan you only have one form but now that there is two forms. When you change the second form dropdown box it changes the price on the first product.

I am trying to dynamically clear the value of a form input field and then submit the form.When I used $('#my_field').val('') to clear the field, it was cleared on the screen but when the form was submitted the original value of the input field was posted.My browser is FireFox and I can see using FireBug that when the field is cleared, firebug is still showing the html code with the old value. E.G. <input type="text" value="old_value" />The same situation occurred if I used $('#my_field').attr('value', '') to clear the field.The same situation occurred if I actually changed the value of the field rather than just clearing it.To work around this problem I ended up using the $('#my_field').removeAttr('value') to clear the field before it was submitted.
I am a complete novice when it come to Javascript. I copied the script for displaying random images at a specific interval (from javascriptkit.com). I would appreciate knowing whether the following is possible:
The pages are based on tables, so the parts that change are all cells.
1. Can I define text instead of an image in the array? i.e. can I have the image change to say an apple in one cell and the next cell have text explaining what an apple is?
2. Would it be possible to put a countdown timer for when the image/text is going to change?
Ive got a small image of a power button and when pressed the inner section on the button changes to yellow, but when its pressed down Im also trying to get part of my H1 (main header logo title) to change to yellow.
Ive created a span with an id surrounding the letters of the H1 that I want to change, the id being : "power";

I understand Im not really supposed to be using inline JS, and I know Ive got to create a function for the onmousedown event to trigger changing the H1 text, so am I under the right impression that the JS so far written is redundant and will have to be re-written so thats contained within a script placed just before the closing </body> and an external script for invoking the main function ?

I'm trying to search for the correct code to make my form work. I have 3 select boxes - one with 2 options, one with 8 options, and the last with 2 options... This is my first post to this forum. When a button in parent window is clicked multiple times, more than one popup window is opened. This problem is occurring in linux firefox and mozilla browsers. In windows the code is working fine. Is there any option in window.open() method to open a popup window once. s there any known issue regarding this case?. Need a workaround to fix this issue.

I am trying to change each forms .submit function like so (below) but each submit button gets the function of the last iteration. I want each form to have a different submit function without using onclick events.

I am setting up a text search with 3 search buttons to allow 3 different searches from the one text box. Each search has different values for the 2 hidden elements. So far I've got the 3 submit buttons working with the below code but I can't figure how to get the hidden values to be inserted. For each of the 3 different submits I need to tell javascript what the 2 hidden values are.
