View 4 RepliesI am trying to disable the back button but when I do it by calling a JS function on "onunload", I get default messages that I need to suppress. This is primarily in Firefox.
I copied the following after googling it.

var workIsDone = false;
window.onbeforeunload = confirmBrowseAway;
function confirmBrowseAway()

Okay, so I've just installed a javascript that redirects to any random page from a specified list. The problem with it is, it's in an iframe and works as sort of an advertising area. So on the mainpage where the iframe has been placed, whenever someone uses the back button, it just keep going back in the iframe and choosing random pages. The back button doesn't work on the mainpage and instead is used in the actual iframe.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with the iframe or the script, and I don't think I have the mental capacity to figure it out so I'd really value some help! Oh, and apparently the problem doesn't occur when using Firefox. Code:
Ive tried all codes that can be found on the net bout disabling the back button on browsers... But negative with OPERA browser...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to have a lightbox pop up when a user clicks the Back button in their browser rather than just navigating back. The purpose is to ask a question with a Yes/No answer, and if they click No, I allow them to go back. The only thing I've found anything like this is the onUnload event, but that doesn't prevent them from going back. How should this be handled?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to write a script that uses the IF statement to see wether or not a user clicked the back button to come to a page, and then if it's true to not let the page load and kick them back X number of pages (say 4) This is what I have so far:
<script language="JavaScript"><!--
if javascript:window.history.back == 1
{
javascript:window.history.back(4);
return false;
}

When setting the tabIndex property for an element, Firefox also displays, like IE, a dotted rectangle around the focussed element. With IE you can set hideFocus=true, which does not work with Firefox.
How do I hide the focus rectangle for Firefox?

Like that, my aspx button inside the dialog (inside the div) doesn't work... it doesn't do a post back. I click and nothing happens (no JS errors). If I comment out the line $("#dialogProd").dialog({ width: '400', position: 'right' });
Then it works normaly as expected (obviously the dialog doesn't show, and I see the DIV as a regular div).
Is there anytihing wrong with the code? some way to prevent this? I had the same code in older version of jQuery and did not have a problem.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got a JQuery Mobile form working across multiple "pages", even though it is a single HTML file.This is done by placing the opening form tag before the <div data-role="page"id="screen1"> tag, and closing it after the final losing page div tag. Works great.Currently the form validation is properly flagging each field as the user leaves it.The only trouble I am having is making the continue button at the bottom of each screen disabled until the visible invalid fields pass validation.Here's the simplified version of the code:

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a simple PHP form and to prevent double data submission, once the user has clicked 'submit', I want to disable the submit button using JavaScript. It was recommended in another thread that one could accomplish this using jQuery and the following code:
Code JavaScript:
$('input[type="submit"]').click( function() { $(this).attr('disabled','disabled'); } );
However, I also read that some browsers don't like having the submit button disabled, and that a more "elegant" way to do things would be:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with the difference in behavior between the IE and FF back buttons. I'm using jQuery to create collapsable div regions which contain text boxes on a search form. After submit, if the use clicks the back button in FF, the region(s) the user had previously expanded, show as expanded. Also, there search term is still present. In IE, when clicking the back button, all regions are collapsed, in there original loaded state, but the search term is still saved. I put the following code at the top of the page:
onload=function(){
alert('Onload!');
}
When clicking the back button in FF, nothing happens. For IE, the alert pops up. This tells me that IE reloads the page (but somehow still saves some things, like the search text). My question is, is there a way to keep IE from reloading when the use clicks 'back'? I will be creating my own 'edit' back button for users to get around this, but I also would like to prevent this from confusing users and causing undesired results.
I have a Java form where I need to be able to switch a drop down with a text box using Javascript. The change would be made depending on the radio button choice the user makes. The drop down is the default form element and radio button A is checked by default. So when the user clicks radio button B the text box should appear and if they change their mind and select radio button A the drop down should come back.
Whats making this a little tricky is that I'm doing my form validation using Java via the form element name. So these two will have the same name. I need for the drop down to be switched off/disabled if they have radio button B and vice versa. Is all this doable using javascript?
I am wondering how Back, Forward browser button works for iframes. Does it bring back/forward iframe or top window? I remember I had before a problem because I wanted to bring back iframe and not top window as it did. But today I tested my Facebook app and was surprised to see it works as I need which means it brings back/forward iframe window and not top. Is it possible that Facebook has some javascript code which does that or is this normall behaviour?
