Disabling Submit Button - Prevent Double Data Submission
Apr 12, 2011
I have a simple PHP form and to prevent double data submission, once the user has clicked 'submit', I want to disable the submit button using JavaScript. It was recommended in another thread that one could accomplish this using jQuery and the following code:
I have webform ,in that we have written some javascript for validation .we are calling this validatation while saving the form by using on client click event .Now we want to prevent the double time clicking the button .I have rounded the entire net but none of the code is not working because we have already calling the on client click function .I tried by calling 2 functions in on client click .But no use.
I have email, password and some other fields, and I'm using $.post to send data for Ajax submission.
The problem is that I don't want to submit a particular field. The serializeArray() returns all the fields in the form. So, I tried something like this to prevent the password field being serialized.
This works great but the ajax submission doen't work.
doesn't work for me, because in that case the button name and value won't be included in the request to the server (because the button is disabled), and I've got a situation where I need to know which button was clicked to submit the form.Is there any way to disable the submit button AFTER the form submission, so it would be included in the request?
I have multiple submit buttons in a form, with the same name. ie code...
Is it possible to detect which submit button was presed, from within the onsubmit handler for the form, or would I need to apply onclick handlers for each button, and submit the form as part of the function?
The following will submit the form data to popup by clicking the submit button. I want it will submit the form automatically to the popup, there is no submit button in this page. Basically this page should not show up.
Has anybody used <button type="submit" name="dil" value="bert">dilbert</button> and attempted to add submit validation through the submit handler and preventDefault() only to find out the element value is missing? I'm currently experiencing this problem and it's a real headache.
I'm trying to prevent the submission of a form but it apparently isn't working. Code: elForm.onsubmit = function(){ object.GoAJAXGo(elForm); return false; } The return false bit I believed would prevent the submission.
I have a form in which I have this link :- < href="javascript:submitform(parameters );"> . In the JavaScript function submitform, there is the code for submitting the form.Thi works fine with single click on both IE,NN6.In IE the form is submitte only once even for double click.But if you double click on the link i NN6, the form is submitted twice. This causes problem. The workaroun for this was that we set a flag(indicating form submission) in th submitform function, we also set a timer which calls the functio resetflag after 3 seconds.So any click within 3 seconds of the firs click will be ignored (so that the form is not submitted for the secon click).
I am building an online store and need to restrict checkout unless a customer has bought at least $20 of items. If they have >$20, they can check out. If they have <$20, they should get an error when they click the checkout button that will explain that there is a $20 minimum. I don't want them to be able to checkout, so maybe I also need to disable the button or hide it?
Here are the two elements in my HTML:
The total price div: Code: <div id="totalprice">{tag_productgrandtotal}</div>
The checkout button: Code: {tag_buybutton,<img alt="" src="/CatalystImages/shop_checkout.png" />}
Here is what I've tried to put together with my next-to-nothing knowledge of Javascript: Code: <body onload="checkOut()"> <script type="text/javascript"> function checkOut() { [code]...
I'm trying to create a form whose onsubmit returns false if the form should not be submitted. Normally this type of thing works great for me:
<form onsubmit="return somefunction()">
where somefunction returns false. But I'm trying to do some thing where in some script block, the function gets added:
form.attachEvent("onsubmit", function () { return somefunction() });
(not worrying about crossplatformosity, sorry). But that doesn't work, the form is always submitted. Is there something else I need to be doing to make this happen?
In my Web Form I have more than one Textbox for user input. If I hit enter to any Textbox its submitting the form. How can I prevent Form submission if users hit enter to the textbox? I want to submit the form only when user will hit submit button.
Hello I need help with double clicked. I have a link
The enroll function process data:
And now I have a problem... when I press the button I want it to be disabled to prevent from double clicking... but I've tried removeattr("onclick"), did nothing ...

I am using jQuery and blockUI to prevent the user from submitting a form twice by double clicking on the interface: This is in my global js file and is called on every pages
Few days ago since I started using JQuery amazing world, I got some basics to get started, I created a dialog in which I included a form that contains two text fields and a button to submit, what I want (in which I stuck now ^^) is the data interred within the form to be sent to the database, I used to do the following:
I need to replace the default ACTION with an ajax post with the current form data, but I also need to keep the:onClick="return applyClicked(); here is what works, however I cannot get the return applyClicked() to prevent the submit if it is false.
I have a credit card donation page and what I wanted to do is after they click the submit button and transaction is successfult I wanted to capture the donation amount they enter from the donation page and show it to the next page.
My problem is that I can find a way to sumbit the form using javascript when there are multiple buttons on the form. I know that we can do form submission using:
form.submit();
but, I have a different case when I need to sumbit form with javascript but still be able to differentiate which button submits the form (dont get confuse on this. What I am doing is the when a user clicks button, it gets thorught a javascipt that validates and does other job and then submits the form).
On the other side, I use (php)
if(isset($_REQUEST["Save"])) { }
to distinguish b/w two buttons.
Only thing i need is to find a way to add information about the button tht triggers the form submit().....
i dont know ... but may be like Code: form.submit("Save");
I have a form that consists of a <select> element and a submit button. The user picks an option, then clicks the submit button to go to the next step. However, I'd also like to add the option to submit the form when the <option> is double-clicked on.I've tried using the following to no avail:
I have a form which houses basic inputs, as well as a few multiple select forms.
I need to parse all the 'values' which are in this multiple select form (it gets manipulated dynamically client side). I wanted to create a function that loops through all the form elements, and if the type 'select-multiple' is detected, gather the VALUES of each <option> inside it.
The bit I'm stuck on is then how to reconstruct this into a form submission. Preferably I wanted the data from the 'select-multiple' element to be submitted as comma delimited, eg 14,12,512,63,62 which would later be parsed by PHP.
I was considering reconstructing a query string and submitting that as GET, but I'd prefer to POST it along with the other data (such as INPUTS etc) which do not need to be changed.
Can I somehow attach some 'hidden' type data onto the end of the form submission at this point?
I have an application that is used by people on my work network and the general public (not on the work network). We experienced an error where a form is submitted using form.submit(); in javascript, but none of the form data comes across to the application server. The request is executed (the servlet processes the request), but the application server and related code gets no data.
It is like we send servlet.do?arg1=val1, but what we get is just servlet.do.
People using this application on our work network, do not experience this issue.
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? I think it's related to the network/proxy configs, but thought I would ask in a JavaScript forum to see if someone else has seen something like this.
is it posssible to show the client what they have submitted using jquery basicly i have a form with 3 options that they have to select 1 month 2 months 3 months i what the thankyou message to show what witch option they have submitted. my form works as client fills in form data then sends for with sendform.php jquery validates and activates a <div id="sent"> on the same page no refresh with my messsage. 1 Month <---- the option they have chosen is this possible as you can tell quite a noob with jQuery
