Has anybody used <button type="submit" name="dil" value="bert">dilbert</button> and attempted to add submit validation through the submit handler and preventDefault() only to find out the element value is missing? I'm currently experiencing this problem and it's a real headache.

doesn't work for me, because in that case the button name and value won't be included in the request to the server (because the button is disabled), and I've got a situation where I need to know which button was clicked to submit the form.Is there any way to disable the submit button AFTER the form submission, so it would be included in the request?
I have multiple submit buttons in a form, with the same name. ie code...
Is it possible to detect which submit button was presed, from within the onsubmit handler for the form, or would I need to apply onclick handlers for each button, and submit the form as part of the function?

URl...The idea is a like button, like on fb, in a form which updates a db field I can use to display the number of likes, and my goal is to disable the like button for the rest of the session, or a day, or whatever. Name, message and email must be filled in or else the submit button will not show or will be disabled and then enabled once filled. If the fields are filled in then the submit button will show. If the fields are filled in but then one is deleted then the submit button will hide. Ideally if I can have it disabled that will work, if not I will settle on hide at this point.

Lets say I have two form fields, with ID/Name of startDate ad endDate.
On a different page, I have say, 4 date fields, like Date1, Date2, Date3, Date 4.
Is there a way to have jQuery notice when fields have an ID that contains "date" and automatically add the datepicker to them?
I ask because I want to create a template with controls like this, where you simply name all form fields relatively standard things and jquery will automatically add the right controls.
My problem is that I can find a way to sumbit the form using javascript when there are multiple buttons on the form. I know that we can do form submission using:
form.submit();
but, I have a different case when I need to sumbit form with javascript but still be able to differentiate which button submits the form (dont get confuse on this. What I am doing is the when a user clicks button, it gets thorught a javascipt that validates and does other job and then submits the form).
On the other side, I use (php)
if(isset($_REQUEST["Save"])) { }
to distinguish b/w two buttons.
Only thing i need is to find a way to add information about the button tht triggers the form submit().....

I have email, password and some other fields, and I'm using $.post to send data for Ajax submission.
The problem is that I don't want to submit a particular field. The serializeArray() returns all the fields in the form. So, I tried something like this to prevent the password field being serialized.
This works great but the ajax submission doen't work.

I'm making a quick and dirty Google Calendar displayer with help from Full Calendar and am struggling to display the details of each Google event correctly. As you may know, if you're not logged into Google Calendar, if you're given an event link or invitation you will be taken to a dynamically generated page displaying the basic details of that event. It includes a <link> ed stylesheet and inline style="..." for each element. I have attached a screenshot of a typical event page.

I am using jQuery AJAX to submit a form. When the data has been validated successfully and processed, I want to clear the form, but I am unsure how. I have been trying to make it work for a few hours now.

What I need is a way to check if everything was successful and if so, then run the code above. I tried to do it in a few ways, but it kept clearing regardless of the status.
I am trying to use jquery: validation plugin by Jörn Zaefferer. Which works really well I have to say. The one limitation I am trying to work around is how I can run validation for required fields before I submit a form. At the moment I have to submit the form before I see the error messages for required fields I would like to see them prior as the user tabs through the form.
