Iframe/javascript Disabling Back Button

Nov 9, 2005

Okay, so I've just installed a javascript that redirects to any random page from a specified list. The problem with it is, it's in an iframe and works as sort of an advertising area. So on the mainpage where the iframe has been placed, whenever someone uses the back button, it just keep going back in the iframe and choosing random pages. The back button doesn't work on the mainpage and instead is used in the actual iframe.

I'm not sure if this is a problem with the iframe or the script, and I don't think I have the mental capacity to figure it out so I'd really value some help! Oh, and apparently the problem doesn't occur when using Firefox. Code:

Back - Forward Browser Button For Iframe - Bring Back/forward Iframe Or Top Window?

Jan 24, 2011

I am wondering how Back, Forward browser button works for iframes. Does it bring back/forward iframe or top window? I remember I had before a problem because I wanted to bring back iframe and not top window as it did. But today I tested my Facebook app and was surprised to see it works as I need which means it brings back/forward iframe window and not top. Is it possible that Facebook has some javascript code which does that or is this normall behaviour?

Made A Back Button For Each IFrame

Jul 10, 2010

I have multiple IFrames on my site with different content inside each. I made a back button for each IFrame

Code:
'<a href="javascript:'+ WindowFrameID + '.history.back();"><div class="forwardbutton"> </div></a>'

It works well for a single frame but if I follow any link inside frame1 and click back button for frame2 then frame1 goes back.

Browser Back Button On A Page Using Iframe Content?

Feb 1, 2011

when you have a page that contains an iframe, and then navigate inside the iframe, hitting the browsers back button will only affect the contents of the iframe and not the entire page. I've been searching all over for solutions and cant find one that works for my current implementation.

function ShowPage(frame)
{
frames[0].location = frame+'.html'
frame.contentWindow.location.replace(newUrl);
}

Use IFrame To Create Back Button Affect For DHTML

Dec 23, 2007

I am trying to put together a proof of concept. What I am trying to prove is that a back button affect can be accomplished using DHTML and an IFrame. Here is the concept, as the user changes data, that data can be written to an IFrame. Then, when the user hits the back button, contents can be taken from the IFrame using history.back() since the IFrame should remember the content written to it just like a page would.

Here is my problem. The below code writes the content entered into the text box into the IFrame. But when I click the button to execute the history.back(), the value returned is undefined.

I think my problem might be that the code which writes the contents of the text box to the IFrame is doing that dynamically, so the page is not caching it. If this is correct, how can I write the dynamically entered content from the text box to the IFrame so it can be cached by the IFrame window? Code:

Javascript Back Button Solution?

Oct 3, 2007

I have a page where users can filter a list of links using javascript clicks. The user then clicks a link in that list, views the page and then clicks back on the browser to view the rest of the list but the javascript options they filtered in the list are gone resulting in them having to do it all over again. Is there a solution to this?

Would it work if I store their selections in a cookie each time they click a javascript button and then when they visit a link and click back (to what is presumably now a cached page) will I be able to have javascript that will read the cookie and reset their options again or is the cookie not loaded on a cached page?

Are there any common solutions to this kind of thing?

How Can We Stop IE From Executing Javascript On A Back Button Click

Nov 14, 2007

Basically, I have a page that I load with 10 input fields. If users
have JS enabled I want to hide 5 of these fields so as to reduce
clutter. If the user needs these extra fields an "Add" button can be
used to display the hidden fields one by one.

Once the fields a filled in the user submits them for validation and
if there are any error They can "Go back" to make some changes. The
whole process works great in FF & Opera but IE lets me down because if
you use the Browser "Back" button the Javavscript gets executed even
though it should be loaded out of cache.

shows the initial value). While all the other user selections are

Having A Lightbox Pop Up When A User Clicks The Back Button In Their Browser Rather Than Just Navigating Back

Jul 1, 2011

I'm looking to have a lightbox pop up when a user clicks the Back button in their browser rather than just navigating back. The purpose is to ask a question with a Yes/No answer, and if they click No, I allow them to go back. The only thing I've found anything like this is the onUnload event, but that doesn't prevent them from going back. How should this be handled?

The problem is if you submit the form, then decide to go back and change your Restaurant type, the drop down for Restaurant Type is missing. You can get it to come back by switching to another main category, then switching back to Restaurant. Code:

Disabling A Dynamic Drop-down With JavaScript

Mar 6, 2006

In a JSP page I am trying to disable a Trade Class drop-down list if the user does not select the ADULT option of the Division drop-down list.

Therefore, Trade Class drop-down list availability depends on the option selected in the Division drop-down list. For instance, if the user selects the KIDS division option then the Trade Class drop-down list should be disable.

I am trying to use JavaScript to do this but I can't get it to work. I have the OnClick attribute in the Division drop-down list so that when a user selects any option from the list the index gets past to the JavaScript function. In my drop-down Division ADULT has index 1.

function enableDisableTradeClass( ) {
var index = document.frm_container_shipments.drp_division_fltr.selectedIndex;
//alert('Selected Division= ' + index);
if ( index != 1 ) {
document.frm_steps.drp_trade_class_fltr.value = "";
document.frm_steps.drp_trade_class_fltr.selectedIndex = 0;
}}

JQuery :: Dialog Disabling Aspx Button?

Dec 7, 2011

I'm using

<link href="../css/le-frog/jquery-ui-1.8.16.custom.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<script src="../js/jquery-1.7.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="../js/jquery-ui-1.8.16.custom.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

[Code].....

Like that, my aspx button inside the dialog (inside the div) doesn't work... it doesn't do a post back. I click and nothing happens (no JS errors). If I comment out the line $("#dialogProd").dialog({ width: '400', position: 'right' });

Then it works normaly as expected (obviously the dialog doesn't show, and I see the DIV as a regular div).

Is there anytihing wrong with the code? some way to prevent this? I had the same code in older version of jQuery and did not have a problem.
