Auto-resizing - Proportional Background Image With Minimum Size Preset

I'm close, but the issue is that if the window is opened at a size that is SMALLER than the original image, it wont scale down to the smaller size until i first make the window bigger, THEN size it down smaller. The image itself is big (its fashion photography so it needs to be high res) and the js sets the minimum width at 1070. Id like to have the image as big as possible and then on page load automatically drop down to as low as 1070px if the window size is small. Here is the js:

I'm attempting to make a web page that adapts to the size of your browser size when it maximized. Because I'm only 15 I'm not such a great programmer or coder. I've done my best with the resources I have though (Fluent in Lua and a natural ability to pick languages syntax up quickly)

Some of it is Copy pasted from sources on Google. But only for educational purposes, I learn off reading, examining and testing out snippets.
I'm basically trying to get the max size of the window and resize the div accordingly.
I have a background image that auto-resizes based on browser window / screen resolution. I want my top header menu, which requires links, to act in the same way and be in roughly the same position/size based on browser window. Is this possible? In the sample below, the image is just part of the background image to give you an idea of the look I am trying to duplicate.Is there a Javascript out there that will help me or will I be stuck having to rework my design?
What I am trying to do: A full screen background image, that auto refreshes every 3 seconds. How I am doing it: I am using EvoCam for my camera software. It uploads the image to my server every 3 seconds, perfectly fine. I am using "Back Stretch" for my full screen capabilities, as I found it to work best is all browsers. BackStretch
My Problem: Using backstretch, applies the background image to the page through javascript, so I dont have an <img> tag to manipulate. A lot/all of the image refresh scripts I have found, use examples where there is an <img> tag. I had used another jQuery method of doing the background that had image tags but did not work in all browsers. When I was using this method, I ran into cache problems where the new image would not load.
Where do I go? I am feeling a bit lost, being relatively new to Javascript, I am unsure of how to go about clearing these problems I have. I feel that the eventual answer is to timestamp the photos, and include the timestamp into the image refresh, and somehow make it so that I am refreshing the Code: <pre><code><script type="text/javascript"> $.backstretch("images/myCam.gif", {speed: 1}); </script> </code></pre> that controls my background image. I have found scripts that include timestamp refreshes, but the way that EvoCam timestamps the image is of a different format than the way Javascript uses
EvoCam images look like: webcam2011-05-11-16-21-34.jpg and I thought Javascript looks relatively the same, but without the dashes. I have a test page set up, where you can see my surly, discouraged face [URL].
I need create offline html page, graphic menu for autorun. How to resize a html page to perfectly fit a background image size? I need html page that need be resized to perfectly fit a background image size, also, this page need be centered on screen.
Using the very basic jqModal example, isn't it supposed to auto size and auto center the modal on the page? I placed a table that was wider than the modal's default settings and it's off the page and does not create scroll bars on the page to see the hidden section of the modal.

if it's possible to re-size a div vertically based on the size of another div.I have this code but it's malfunctioning. Basically it takes the ID of the two divs and offset their height.
Example: The dynamic div will stretch or re-size vertically based on the size of the content div. So if the contents in the content div is increased, like text size, the the other div stretch to give equal height.Here is my code:

I have images inside of a container that is inside of an iframe. When I click on an image, content underneath is revealed by sliding everything underneath it down. The problem I have is that when it slides the content down, all the other images and content are cut off. I want it that when the content extends past the height of the div#container, it autoresizes, if that's possible. But I don't wanna use the iframe scrollbar. Only the parent scrollbar.

I am attempting to modify the code so the book pages resize based on the screen width... or height... not really sure how this should be done as I need the proportions of the pages to stay consistent.
I have been able to achieve the resize on page load but I now need to add the resize() method to the variable.

I think I need to add an if() statement in the variable that says if page width or height changes resize else original code that is working. I have this code which I know works but I can't seem to get to work with one variable without overriding the original code... which doesn't work with this application.
I'm looking for a way to resize the 'font-size' of an element so it fits in it's container. What I currently have is this:

I was trying to make it so while the width of the text is larger than the width of its container, 100px, the size would decrease by 1 in a loop until it's the correct size. Unfortunately, this yield's no results for me.
I have a mysql database with a bunch of quotations in it. I created a blog at http:[url]....At the top of the blog is an iframe window that directs to http:[url]....On that page it uses php to pull out a random quote from the database. The iframe window displays that quote onto the blog.It works great except that the height is not automatically resizing.Is there a way I can use javascript to do this instead? I am designing a website and I just want that if a user open it on any resolution then it will fit it self to that resolution and no scroll bars will come like google, yahoo etc. I know it is possible but not know how?
I have a bunch of dynamically generated (PHP) text area tags, and I want to put buttons next to them that automatically change their number of rows to the number of rows of text that appear in the text area.
So if there are 10 lines of text (wrapped, with an occasional line break), I want my javascript function to figure that out, and then set the appropriate value.
Here's what I came up with so far. taID is passed into the function as the ID tag value of the text area.

Im so close that i can taste it..The first set of code works find but only for the first input tag. I would like to create an array of all of the text inputs on my page and have each one resize to the text within them. The second set up code is where im attempting this but for some reason i can't get the code to execute.

Is there a way to setup in the header that all links on a page with class="myclass" will default to a small popup window with X parameters and size? So I don't have to do an onclick on each <a href>??
I am delving into the coding world and while I understand the basic principle of cookies, conditional statements, arrays, etc...I have looked around the web and this forum with little success. If the situation below is too complicated, I would really appreciate even a shove in the right direction regarding the logic.How could I show a preset counter which counts up from a preset, beginning number toward a preset, end number? I imagine the increment and speed is set be the difference between the two numbers and a timeframe.
:confused: Assumptions:I would rather not set the increment but edit the end number to show a steady increase. As I update that number, the increment adapts dynamically. I would want the number/script to be useful, so it should not refresh to the beginning number on each page load (i.e. num=0). When a visitor comes to the page, it must seem like the counter has been steadily been increasing in their absence.Coke or Pesi did something similar one time regarding cans sold to date (doubt it was plugged into a DB somewhere but rather based on a steady sales figure) and it was pretty cool.
We are code crushing the width of images from 285px to 260 pix. However we aren't changing the height. we need a bit of javascript that can make that percentage change to the height as well.
I have been trying all sorts of things, but falling short... I'm trying to set up a way to detect a user's browser size and then call a specific background image accordingly...
say (for example) that BKGD1.jpg is for users who have browsers that are 1280x1024 and higher; BKGD2.jpg is for users who have browsers that are smaller than 1280x1024...
i'm even open to an option that only displays a background image if the browser is (as in the example above) 1280x1024, and just a background color if the browser is smaller than that.
im trying to resize an image to fit it in a cell in my table which is a fixed width and height. The images im using have varying sizes some are more tall than wide and some are more wide than tall .
So im using this javascript code that i have got from somewhere on the net ( cant mind where now) that should hopefully resize the image keeping the aspect ratio but the code is not resizing the image .

I am loading an html page using the .load() function into a div called content. I have an overlay that is the same size as the div (I do this for a transparent effect).So with the .load() function in the callback I set the overlay div height to the content div height.. which works fine except when there are images. Since the images aren't loaded yet the div height will be smaller than actual size.[code]and the html file can include anything such as video or images.I tried doing a .delay(1000) just to see if that would fix it but didn't seem like the delay was working.How would I properly set the overlay div height to the content div height AFTER the images have been loaded?
