JQuery :: Calendar - Using OnBlur In Two Input Fields For Dates

Oct 1, 2010

I am working on a form where users enter a Start Date and an End Date via a pop up calendar using JavaScript. This works well. From the results of that data, I need to
1) Calculate the number of days + 1;
2) Multiply #1 by $25 to get the amount allocated for meals - and I need it done dynamically.

Now, I can get this to work using onblur in the two input fields for the dates, but that means users would have to put the focus within the input fields after they've done the calendars and tab or click else where in order for the values to take effect and the javascript to calculate the correct values for meal. It was suggested to try to use jquery, which I have been trying to no avail and I'm just wondering if I am doing this wrong. I thought .trigger or .triggerHandle would do it, but nothing seems to happen.

Here's my script I'm trying to use to activate these scripts:
<script type="text/javascript">
$("#en_date").blur(function() {
$("#input25").triggerHandler("blur");});
$("#input25").blur(function() {
$("#en_date").trigger("blur");
}
</script>

My input fields have this:
<br /><b>* Start date - </b>
<input type="text" id="st_date" name="st_date" maxlength="25" size="25" value="<?php echo $st_date; ?>" onblur="cal7();" />
<a href="#" onClick="cal13.select(document.forms[0].st_date,'st_date','yyyy-MM-dd'); return false;" TITLE="cal13.select(document.forms[0].st_date,'st_date','yyyy-MM-dd'); return false;" NAME="st_date" ID="st_date">
<img src="images/cal.gif" border="0" width="16" height="16" alt="Pick a date" />
</a><br />
<b>* End date - </b> .....

The End Date is tied to the Start Date, as you can tell above. For the calendar, I am making it launch with this command:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript" ID="js13">
var cal13 = new CalendarPopup();
</SCRIPT>
I've tried just using a simple if/then statement within my javascript that calculates the values, but it doesn't launch automatically, which is my problem, and it should launch immediate after the "End Date" variable has been entered. Everything else works.

JQuery :: Adding Input's Value To A Xml String?

Jul 14, 2010

I have a lot of checkboxes/input's and when they are clicked/filled out I need to add that value to the <COMMETNS> section of the xml string, which is the hidden input's value. Is this close to the right way? Again the xml string is the hidden input #AGREEMENTS value

<input type="hidden" id="AGREEMENTS" name="AGREEMENTS" value="<AGREEMENTS><AGREEMENT><CODE>XNNonproStatus</CODE><VERSION>KV000001</VERSION><DATETIME><?php echo $SubmitDATETIME ?></DATETIME><COMMENT>'SECQualified' + ( $('[name=SECQualified]').val() ),'InvestmentAdvisor' + ( $('[name=Advisor]').val() ), 'Subscribing' + ( $('[name=Subscribing]').val() ), 'Billed' + ( $('[name=BName]').val() )</COMMENT></AGREEMENT><AGREEMENTS>" />

Should I make a click function for each checkbox?

Adding Input To Div On Click With If Statement?

I'm trying to add a textbox to my div -- the code to add does work but when I add in the if statement to make sure that there won't be multiple inputs, the code does not work...

1. How do I debug my own scripts? I've been learning slowing but I don't know the quick way to catch an error and print to page.

2. Is there something I'm missing with this code?

if(!document.getElementById(post_id.id).innerHTML.indexOf('post_rep_box')) document.getElementById(post_id.id).innerHTML += "<input type='text' name='post_rep_box'/>"

I've also tried (post_id.id).value

Form Validation Adding Border Around Input?

Jan 15, 2011

Currently on my form if you your input dosn't pass my validation you will see an error message and red box will also appear around the input box. The issue is that if you will it out the box will not disappear until you hit submit. Obviously that is because I have PHP validate the form, but I would like for the red border to go away as soon as the conditions are met, which is why I thought, JS would be the best solution.

I know how to write a conditional state in JS but I am not sure ho to echo out different classes based on the conditions.

JQuery :: Custom Form Validator - Adding Span After Input

Nov 2, 2010

I am working with customised form validator..I've this html structure
<div id="tab-perfil"><fieldset>
<legend>Dados Pessoais</legend>
<div class="columns">
<div class="colx3-left-double required">
<label for="nome">Nome</label>
<span class="relative">
<input type="text" name="nome" id="nome" value="" class="full-width">
</span></div>

What I want to do is after the input add a span, I know how to do that, just use insertAfter('#nome'); but I have a class for the ERROR and a class for the OK. This is what I have so far
this.find("#formulario_criar-cliente").submit(function(){
var $inputs = $('#formulario_criar-cliente div .required :input');
$inputs.each(function() {
if ($(this).val() == "") {
$(this).addClass("error");
} else {
$(this).removeClass("error");
}});
return false;
});

When I add the class error I want to show a span with a class="check-error" and when I remove the class I want to show a span with a class="check-ok" but remove the error one. This is for multiple inputs... and I don't know how to achieve that =x

Adding Multiple Input Boxes And Getting A Total Different Number Every Time?

May 19, 2011

ave this form which gets created by pulling stock/products from a database using PHP and beside every product in the row is a little box for input and in there the user can input the quantity of the product they want. Sometimes only 2 products will be outputted and other times 10 or more.What I want to happen is when the user enters in lets say 3 for the quantity of a certain product I want to get a total for how much 3 of that product will cost so I just do 3 multiply by the cost (which I have from the database) and then display the total cost down under where the list of the available products are and I want all this to happen dynamically obviously not using PHP because I don't want the page to have to reload every time they enter in a new quantity.

I know how to display text and stuff in certain divs with certain ID's using Javascript but I just don't know how to keep track of a form and do what I want to do when the number of inputs in the form can range from 1 to 10 or more. Im thinking of some sort of counter which gives every input a different ID like add 1 at the end of the ID name of the input as the PHP script loops through the database query displaying the products but I still don't know how to go about the Javascript side of things

JQuery :: Adding Checkbox/radio Button Values To An Input For Xml String ?

Jul 1, 2010

I can't seem to get this working correctly. I have several radio buttons and checkboxes. Based on them being checked I need to add that value to an input (which will be hidden) to be passed as a form parameter. The input they are added to is wrapped in xml tags. Currently it is simply overwriting each value, not adding them to the string. One value "IKNTK" needs to be passed regardless.

Adding Forms But It's Limited To Text Input Forms?

Nov 14, 2011

how to add forms in javascript, but it's limited to text input forms.

<script type="text/javascript"><!--
function updatesum() {
document.form.sum.value = (document.form.sum1.value -0) + (document.form.sum2.value -0);
}
//--></script>

Where the inputs sum1 and sum2 are text fields you put whatever numbers you want in. That works fine. Great. Now what I'm having trouble with is modifying the code so that it will add one form with an input number with a form that spits out a randomly generated number.

<input type="button" value="D20" onclick="this.form.display.value = Math.round (20 * Math.random())" class="buttonHi" />  <input name="display" type="text" size="6" value="" />

This is what I'm using for my random number generator. So basically I want to be able to put, say, 5, into the input text field above this. And then click on the d20 button to get a random number, say, 15, and then have the first code add the inputted 5 with the randomly generated 15.

Sorting Dates

Jul 28, 2005

If I had a date in the format "01-Jan-05" it does not sort properly with my sort routine:

function compareDate(a,b)
{
var date_a = new Date(a);
var date_b = new Date(b);
if (date_a < date_b)
{ return -1; }
else
{
if (date_a > date_b)
{ return 1; }
else
{ return 0; }
}
}

I guess it expects the date in mm/dd/yyyy format.

Do I have to change:

var date_a = new Date(a);
var date_b = new Date(b);

so it recognizes a correct format?

Compare 2 Dates

May 15, 2007

A HTML Form has 2 sets of 3 dropdown select lists. The 1st set is for users to enter the start time & the 2nd set is for users to enter the end time. The 1st dropdown select list in both the sets is where users will select hours, the 2nd dropdown select list in both the sets is where users will select minutes (the 2nd dropdown select list in both the sets have 4 options - 00, 15, 30 & 45). The 3rd dropdown select list in both the sets is where users will select either AM or PM.

Now it's quite obvious that the start time can come after the end time (on the same date). For e.g. you can't let users select the start time as 9:00 AM & the end time as 6:00 AM.

How do I validate that the end time always comes after the start time & vice-versa?

Difference Between Two Dates?

I would like to know how to achieve this. I want to know the difference between two dates in months, how much days left over, and how much hours left over. I do not need days or hours equivalent to the months remaining. The problem is I also want it to consider February's less than 30 days and 29 days in leap year. I spend my entire week trying to figure out how to do it.

In the end I want values in variable months_left, days_left, and hours_left. I tried modifying several date deference scripts but I couldn't get them to work as intended.
