I am inexperienced in JavaScript. I have an html page with several numeric input fields which are an array. At the bottom of the screen is a running total of the numbers entered.
The html is like:
<INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME='array[0]' onchange='addup()'>
<INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME='array[1]' onchange='addup()'>
I have the following code that I wrote myself (except for the function isNumberKey). However, I don't know how to actually add the numbers together. My plan is to store the value entered in the forms as a variable, then manipulate the variables to get my final number. The final number would be stored in variable named Total and would be displayed after Total: at the bottom of my page.
I need to add 18 months to a date entered on a form and show the results to the user without the time. so a date like 1/1/2000 is entered and the results should be 06/30/2001. I am parsing the string and adding 18 months of milliseconds to the date. While I have gotten this to work, it is not correct because each month has a different # of days.
add 18 months to a date entered by a user?
Code: var str = document.form1.startdate.value; var d1 = Date.parse(document.form1.startdate.value); var d7 = d1+86400000*30*18;
I'm using jQuery validation on a form and I can't get it to only validate optional fields if the user enters something (should recognize the difference between this and the default value of the field, for text input fields). I know this is built in (I think) but I must be doing something wrong.
For example, phone number is optional but I want it to validate if the user enters something. Code for the phone in the JS file is:
When I just put "phone" as the class it validates the field even if it is not edited by the user at all. For the required fields I put "required" as the class to validate them but I just read in another post that this is not necessary with the plugin...? I guess I am not sure whether the field should be define as optional by a class or in the JS file, and if it's the latter, how to do that.
I am making a form using HTML and java where you enter a number and it uses an equation then spits out another number. My problem is I want to split the number you put into the form and add it up. Example You enter"457829"Press "convert"And the first step I want it to do is"4+5+7+8+2+9=sumA"Then"sumA/8"So far I can only do the sumA/8 if I manually add up the numbers then place the sum in the form, here's the code:
I have a JavaScript application that needs to preserve double quote marks and apostrophes (" and ') that are entered into form fields by the user. The form data is passed through several screens using hidden fields.
Right now, apostrophes work because I have the input fields coded as value="". I have not found a way for JavaScript to retrieve the field's value if double quotes are entered by the user. If I change the parameter to value='' (single quotes) then the apostrophes probably won't work.
Is there a straightforward way for JavaScript to retrieve the field value containing quotes, so that I can manipulate it into a different string that can be easily passed between HTML pages?
I have been looking for the past 2 days for a script that I can add and delete table rows.
I have found a lot but so far all of them add an input field but I desperatly need a textarea or ideally a section of input fields.
I have tried to change the code from input to text area but none of them worked.
Have you come across to a similar script.
I would appreciate any contributions.
What I am trying to do is a page where the user will add their employees details so we can order business cards for them. So I have fileds such as, Name, Tel Num, Email, Cell etc.
Basically i need help with input fields that when clicked the text (value) disappears but if the user has not entered anything in it would revert back to what was originally there.I have managed to get the value inside to disappear once clicked without the use of javascript but would love someone to point me in the right direction of how to revert the original value back if nothing was entered in if the user did click inside as the field continues to be blank.
I am re-developing my website and want to use some Ajax/jQuery in it (so I am learning as I go) and I am not sure if this is possible so that is my first question:I have a registration form and I would like to know if after the person registering has completed their first and surname and the 2 sections of their postcode if I can use jQuery to run a PHP script to see if they are already registered before waiting for the form to be submitted and running a script then.I am thinking onkeyup (or similar) after the last field is completed but I don't know how that would work needing to also use 3 other field values.If this is possible, can anyone give me any ideas of examples that do this or how I can go about passing all the variables and running the scripts at the correct time.
I have a pretty basic set of things I want to do: Capture key press, compare against an allowed list, block keys that are not in that list, replace a space by a dash if entered. As this is happening, I have a span I wanted to be updated with the live values. The username field at [URL] is exactly what I am trying to do, though I have trouble dissecting how they did it. Here is my attempt, which is off by one keypress for some reason.
I have a page setup where it lists an item. I have three input boxes. One for actual cost, one for actual shipping and one for actual total.
The first two are pre-populated with what it should be. Now the first two are editable. Basically I want the third box to keep a running total of the first two from the when the page generates up to someone changing one of the numbers.
How would I go about doing that. I have it setup now where ONKEYUP its adds box one and two into box three, but I am running into the problem were if its an odd number then the third box ends up with 68.039999999 instead of 68.04.
There are two input fields in a form, but only one of them is required, they are not required at the same time. Either A or B is required. ( A is required OR B is required). In other words, a user can input data to field A, or he can input data to filed B, but he can not input data to Both A and B at the same time. How to implement this constraint in Jquery form validation?
Is it possible to have a text box input searching for the entered text on another webpage in the same way Find In Page would do? I have a webpage that I want users to input an item, and that this will open the targeted webpage and bring you to (and highlight) the matched item(s) like find in page does. Is this possible or is the easiest way to just make users open the link to the target page and just complete the find in page search there?
I have a script that calculates the $ amount when someone enters a number. For example, if you enter 2, it's $200 if you enter 3 the total is $300.I then have code that adds a $ amount based on a check box. So if check box is clicked it's supposed to add $10. All of this works, however, my last piece of code which combines the two totals isn't working right.1st of all, it doesn't display the total right away w/o checking the check box. That is, people should be able to just enter a 2 and go on with their business. Instead my code makes them check/then uncheck the box to see the total. I've posted the code below in chunksHere I calculate the TOTAL based on how many they selectCode:
function CalculateTotal(frm) { var order_total = 0 // Run through all the form fields
I'm attempting to sum/add up values within 4 different form fields on the fly, but keep getting a result of NaN....not sure what I'm doing wrong....here's my code:
function calculate(totalElement) { for (var i=1,app_pend_end=0;i<5;i++) app_pend_end += what.elements['textField' + i].value - 0;
I have a script that I am trying to get working in IE. It works great in Firefox, but will only work one time in IE.
The idea is that the user is presented with a field. As soon as the user types in the field the script adds a new field under it. To keep from adding more than one field there is a variable called probURLnumKeep that gets incremented only if the field being typed in is the last field created. Code:
I'm working on what is currently a simple form, which will include a list of the users friends. However, seeing as everyone's going to have a different number of friends to submit, I'd really like to just have 1 "Friend" field and a button to "Add another friend" next to it.
The idea is that when someone clicks on the "Add Friend" button, another text field will appear (with another Add button), allowing the user to input more contact details.
I think I'm right in saying that I'd need JavaScript to do this, but other than that I really don't have any idea.
Would somebody be able to let me or know? Or post up a link to a relvant tutorial?
i'm trying to make a form in which a user can add additional fields by pressing on a button. At the moment, my code looks like this:
Code: <FORM id = "myform" name = "myform" method = "post" action = "somefile.php"> <table border = "1" name = "datatable" id = "datatable"> some html <tr> <td colspan = "7"><A HREF = "javascript:addElement(datatable);" name = "add" id = "add"> Add another searchfield</A></td></tr>
[Code]...
However already this doesn't work, and refuses to delete anything. The function does load successfully when the link is clicked ( I tested this by adding an alert).
I am having a form with two input fields. I want to enter some text in the first input field and then the second field should get the same text. Is there a simple way (maybe a plugin) to do this with jQuery? It would be perfect if I even could output all these input fields values as normal text in <p> or <li> tags.
How can I add more <input type="file" /> -fields by the click of a button? The idea is that the clients should be able to upload a number of files from the same form, but I shouldn't need to know how many fields they need to begin with. Would be good to have an option to remove fields as well.
I am new to the AJAX world and would like to do something simple, but have not found any examples of it. Maybe I am searching the wrong things.I have a simple form.
I want to add rows and columns on click. So, i have a table with columns and rows and I had a add and remove button. So I want the user to be able to add/remove more rows if they have multiple inputs/outputs.So what I want is when the user clicks on add.png, I want another row of Input and Description to appear underneath the current oneHere is my code..
we use sage crm which has a back end sql database and a web front end which is a combination of html and java script.on a particular screen we have 24 numeric fields, these have names / IDs which are flq_glh1flq_glh2flq_glh3.... and so oni would like to total these 24 fields and display the result in another numeric field called total_glh
