I would like to have a main form (written in PHP) that has a "lookup" button next to a text field. When the user clicks "lookup", it should open a new window that lets them search (child.page1). When they enter a name or DOB into the search form, it submits the form through PHP (via POST), to a results page (child.page2). This displays all persons in the database which have a name or DOB == to the search term(s), with a checkbox next to each match. They click the checkbox (or alternenatively, a link), and return the checkbox value to the main window.
I have everything working right now, except that (child.page2) doesn't recognize the main window. If the data is entered on (child.page1), it works fine. I'm not very familiar with javascript.. is this even possible? I've considered using frames, to keep the parent-child relationship evident to the computer, but figured I'd check to see if there's an easier way.
I am re-developing my website and want to use some Ajax/jQuery in it (so I am learning as I go) and I am not sure if this is possible so that is my first question:I have a registration form and I would like to know if after the person registering has completed their first and surname and the 2 sections of their postcode if I can use jQuery to run a PHP script to see if they are already registered before waiting for the form to be submitted and running a script then.I am thinking onkeyup (or similar) after the last field is completed but I don't know how that would work needing to also use 3 other field values.If this is possible, can anyone give me any ideas of examples that do this or how I can go about passing all the variables and running the scripts at the correct time.

I'm attempting to pass text from my website to another website that has a form setup on it. I'd like to fill in the pertinent data for my users on the page that I load for them. I cannot make any changes to the receiving page as it is run by another company. I've pasted some of the code that is available on the receiving form.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a JavaScript application that needs to preserve double quote marks and apostrophes (" and ') that are entered into form fields by the user. The form data is passed through several screens using hidden fields.
Right now, apostrophes work because I have the input fields coded as value="". I have not found a way for JavaScript to retrieve the field's value if double quotes are entered by the user. If I change the parameter to value='' (single quotes) then the apostrophes probably won't work.
Is there a straightforward way for JavaScript to retrieve the field value containing quotes, so that I can manipulate it into a different string that can be easily passed between HTML pages?
I have an webbpage, and in the middle of it there is an iframe to a php site. So i have used this code, so after some seconds the iframe will send the guest to another page. <meta http-equiv="refresh" traget="_top" content="5 url=http://mypage.com"/> But the thing is that i want the WHOLE page to reload, and go to that page after 5 seconds (we can say). With that code, only the iframe are going to another page. Is it possible to make the whole page send the user after some seconds, to another page and not only the iframe?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a site i'm building in Joomla! 1.5. I've got a form on page A and an iframe on page B. The iframe src is an asp page that returns real estate listing details based on values passed to the asp page in the URL. for example:[URL] I figured out how to create a form on page B that changes the src of the iframe by setting the target to the name of the iframe. so that works fine. but now, i want to put a similar form on the home page.
:confused: so here is my question... Is it possible to use JS (or maybe php?) to create a URL based on the values in the form on page A and then take the visitor to page B while changing the src of the iframe on page B to be the newly created URL? if so, how?
existing iframe code:
<iframe name="resultsiframe" src="URL-ONE"></iframe>
desired new iframe code (after form on page A is submitted):
<iframe name="resultsiframe" src="URL-TWO"></iframe>
I am writing a small data entry screen that will post the form data to a page and return a message. But i cannot get the Success or Error functions working properly.
Here's the code where strData is the posted querystring of:
I'm not sure whether it should be in a form and using the onsubmit or click of a button.
So my problem is that i can't send form data in FF without page refresh (though in IE7-8 everything works smoothly).
My code fragments:
I have a page A with form:
<form id="search" action="find.html" method="get">
... (some select options) ...
<input type="submit" class="submit" value="search">
this form look up some holiday destination which appears on this page with url: [URL] Now, I dont want to display result on this page, but on page B, in iframe.I found a way how to redirect output as a link to properly show in iframe on page B.
Page A contains:
<a href="pageb.html?http://www.domain.com/find.html?destination=italy&price=500">show on page B</a><br>
Page B contains:
<script type="text/javascript">
[code]....
In this case page B will properly load requested link in iframe.Problem is it is just a static link... I want to display search result from the form.
How can I pass form data from a form on one page, to a form on another.
Here is what I need exactly:
I am working on the following website code...
This means that the user will have to enter information for other fields but not for those already filled afetr data was passed on from the previous form.
Does it make sense?
I'm using jQuery validation on a form and I can't get it to only validate optional fields if the user enters something (should recognize the difference between this and the default value of the field, for text input fields). I know this is built in (I think) but I must be doing something wrong.
For example, phone number is optional but I want it to validate if the user enters something. Code for the phone in the JS file is:
jQuery.validator.addMethod("phone", function(phone_number, element) {
phone_number = phone_number.replace(/s+/g, "");
return this.optional(element) || phone_number.length > 9 &&
phone_number.match(/^(1-?)?(([2-9]d{2})|[2-9]d{2})-?[2-9]d{2}-?d{4}$/);
[Code]....
When I just put "phone" as the class it validates the field even if it is not edited by the user at all. For the required fields I put "required" as the class to validate them but I just read in another post that this is not necessary with the plugin...? I guess I am not sure whether the field should be define as optional by a class or in the JS file, and if it's the latter, how to do that.
I am using an iframe in my page to submit a form to so that it can upload a file - since you can't do this through the jquery ajax function. I have everything working, but I want to be able to hide the iframe and get the content of it, and put just the content inside of it into another div on the page. I have tried alot of things, but I think this one was probably closest:
$("#myframe")[0].contentDocument;
This ended up getting me a value type of "Object HTMLDocument", I just can't figure out how to get the content as a string so that I can put it into the div I want.
Does anyone have a good example of how to post form data onto a new confirmation page using javascript.

I would like this to be in the upper part of the page with the listings of the auction items, i just can't wrap my head around how to do this. I am writing a form that grows using ajax server responses to info as the form is filled in and everything is fine in standards compliant browsers but IE is having a problem. I have two js functions on the page that collect form data, send it to the server, and then write the server response as innerHTML to specified divs on the page. This works great in FF but in IE it runs the first function but fails on the second function and the two functions are identical except for the server routine.
The div that is populated with the server response so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the coding because if one works, and they are identical, the other should work too so perhaps IE is choking with the way it is handling two ajax objects on the same page? You will need to add something to the shopping cart first at [uRL] and proceed to checkout, then on the checkout page look in the url and change ste_chkout_proc to ste_checkout_proc and load the new url to see the dev checkout vs. the live checkout.
