This means that the user will have to enter information for other fields but not for those already filled afetr data was passed on from the previous form.

Nov 16, 2010I have been searching everywhere for the proper method to pass input from one html form to another. I have found a bunch of javascript that is supposed to break down a query string and populate the second form based on that, but no matter what i try i cant get it working. Basically, im trying to have a small form on the main page where a user would enter some basic info (name, etc.) and also choose from a drop down menu for one selection. Then on clicking submit, that would launch the full form, populated with the data they filled out, and including new input fields.

If a user selects an option or two in one of these divs, then fills in some fields, then hides the div... is it going to cause problems when they submit the form if the div is hidden?
edit: what if we add validation into the mix. What happens if a field in a hidden div does not pass validation?

Jun 19, 2011I have a form with allot of form items on it that posts to itself. I am trying to pass those form values to another page with out using the action attribute in the form. Is there a way to do this? I have tried jquery and javascript but coming up blank. Just trying to pass all the values at one time to another page. Seems a little difficult to me since im a intermediate javascript programmer. Here is what i am trying to do script wise. theform is the ID of the form. I have a switch statement that is based on the button pressed would get into that statement. So if one of the three buttons on the page is "excel report" it should get into that statement and pass the values of the form to another page. I have tried this:

Aug 2, 2009I have a PHP form with a html section at the bottom. There are 14 input text fields on the form and I want the form to send of the email as it should do and also take the name field, pass it to the following web page and display it in a <div> tag.
I think the relevant code looks like this

Can I capture the input from FieldData0 and send it to the next webpage by Javascript or as a cookie? Or to have then confirm their name in a second form and automatically capture it before the submit button.
I have no script on the following page yet.
Passing Data From Multi-page Child Form To Parent Form
May 23, 2010I would like to have a main form (written in PHP) that has a "lookup" button next to a text field. When the user clicks "lookup", it should open a new window that lets them search (child.page1). When they enter a name or DOB into the search form, it submits the form through PHP (via POST), to a results page (child.page2). This displays all persons in the database which have a name or DOB == to the search term(s), with a checkbox next to each match. They click the checkbox (or alternenatively, a link), and return the checkbox value to the main window.
I have everything working right now, except that (child.page2) doesn't recognize the main window. If the data is entered on (child.page1), it works fine. I'm not very familiar with javascript.. is this even possible? I've considered using frames, to keep the parent-child relationship evident to the computer, but figured I'd check to see if there's an easier way.

I'm attempting to pass text from my website to another website that has a form setup on it. I'd like to fill in the pertinent data for my users on the page that I load for them. Grabbing Variables From A Confirmation Page?
Mar 21, 2011Im trying to grab certain variables like orderID & Subtotal variables that are posted to the confirmation page. The reason im grabbing these is for a confirmation pixel that is displayed for commission junction. When some clicks on their link, then completes an order,heir tracking pixel fires grabs these variables and that way they can track the order confirmaton. The problem is they dont see the tracking pixel firing and its not grabbing the variables. I dont know what to do. Here is the code.This is the code that shows on the confirmation page. Jan 31, 2006Im writing a small app that will basically be like a wiki for family memebers to go in and make pages using my wysiwyg editor, update pages, ect..
the problem i've run into is trying to ensure they have saved the page.
I have a variable to detect whether or not unsaved changes exist. however the problem is now stopping the close event if the user clicks 'cancel' in the confirmation box.
Examples of when the 'navigation' or 'browser close' should be blocked:
1)i've made a small change on the page then clicked on a link, i should receive a conf message asking me if i want to loose changes.
2)i've made a change on the page then clicked the browser 'X' (close) button by accident. I should get the conf message here as well.
3) i've hit the refresh or reload button without saving. again i want the conf message.
Note, if they want to close, clicking OK should allow them too. furthermore, this function to block the close and produce the confirmation only will be called if there are unsaved changes on the page.

How To Show Confirmation Dialog When Leaving A Page
Apr 18, 2006I would like to know how to display a confirmation message when a user attempts to navigate away from a page. For example, if a users clicks the X to close the window, or chooses another link from his favorites, I want to display a message that says something like "Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page, click OK to continue, or Cancel to remain on this page."
I noticed this on meebo.com. After you log in, when you try to close the window you get a confirmation dialog like I describe above. I didn't think this was possible to show a confirmation dialog using the onunload event, but I could be wrong.

Nov 8, 2010I have a form on a page that allows users to enter/edit and delete calendar events. The form is handled with Alsup's .ajaxForm plug-in [URL]. I would like to add a delete confirmation to the functionality in the form of a "Are you sure?" dialog box. Regardless of whether I open the confirmation in the "beforeSubmit" callback or a separate button.click function, the problem is the same: the "beforeSubmit" callback isn't waiting for the confirmation dialog to close.

The first-to-mind hackish idea of

Only causes the browser to hang. And setTimeout would also fall thru without waiting for the response. And I ~really~ don't want to use the old alert() function, even tho that is precisely the functionality I want to mimic.

I would like this to be in the upper part of the page with the listings of the auction items, i just can't wrap my head around how to do this. I've gotten as far as the form for entering the bod and contact info. I have the php code to submit. i still have to get the validation js to make it more secure.
