Write Ja Function To Make A Field Editable In A Table
Apr 16, 2009
I am a newbie in this field and never have done any scripting as i dont belong to this field.Just now trying to learn html and javascript. I have written a very simple HTML code having a table containing some columns like market,account number,user id,racf id etc. Below given is my code:
Code:
<html>
<head>
<title>E 1.3</title>
<h3> Information regarding various markets is given below</h3>
</head>
<body ALINK="#FF0000" LINK="#0000FF" VLINK="#FF33FF" bgcolor="#FFFFCC">
<table border="1" bgcolor="#CCFFCC" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="5">
<thead>
[Code]...
This code i completely html but i am posting here in javascript forum because i need a javascript function which can be embedded in this html code so that the columns account number and and user id become editable. Means: this code is not complete as of now.In account number and user id column i can enter at the max three strings for every market.The whole page will be static only except the account number and user id field in the table.My question is how to make this particular column editable.Means i need to have two buttons.Clicking first button makes the field editable and i can edit the column and when i click the other button eg:save or something then the cuesor automatically goes away and the page becomes uneditable until i click the first button.
I'm trying to implement is a table with editable rows and columns that will feed back into a database. If I could do it with AJAX that would be great too, but I'm not too familiar with javascript. I don't need the code, I need more of an idea. The HTML Table is currently a recreation of the MySQL table minus a few columns. Its all in text, but if I could make the text editable, or better yet, make the text turn into input boxes it would be really cool. I'm not really sure what kind of methods and properties I would need, or quite how to put it all together. What do you think is the best way to go about the entire project?
i have some mysql articles and i would like to change the title when it displayed on the page by clicking on the h3 tag i have got the articles displaying on a while loop so i need something that would work with that i was thing of somehow changing the h3 tag to a input tag
that make editable a <p id=xxx> with an speial id I want to modify it to makeditable any of <p> with that id if it's been clicked and also i use this function on a button how I can avoid this function from multiple executing by multiple clicking by user?
I have a jsp page. It display a table contain 3 columns. 1st column display color name, 2nd for purpose of color like that.. Now i need the contents in td element to editable. This is the sample code. here status is a vector table.
How would I make an normal form input field go from editable (where someone can write text into it) to solid text (not editable) simply by clicking anywhere on the page away from the field And then.. ..the reverse. Clicking on the non-editable text would suddenly create a form field (with that text in it) once again editable. Possible with JavaScript?
I have several issues with my multilevel drop down menu The First issue is : the page has 2 iframes (one has the horizontal multilevel drop down menu on the top) the below iframe has my site address Now, when i hover over the menu it does not open or expand but when i open just the menu without any iframes it does This clearly means that the menu is not coming out of the iframe bring it on top of everything of the page Note: i have placed the menu in one iframe and a page opens below it in another iframe. The Second issue is : I want the navigation bar that is the multilevel drop down menu to be editable Which means i have a blog and a forum on my site but my visitor wants that the blog should not appear there and another link to play games should
be there and hence he/she can edit it And please also try to make it work on cookies so that the user info and preferences are saved in cookies and whenever he/she comes back they see the page their way. For you: I would like to tell you that IdeaLab has launched a Twitter Advertising, Widget and Search platform and the first 1000 people are getting $100 go to tweetup.com
First off, sorry if this is the wrong section. Adobe Forms isnt exactly Web Development, but its the only place I could find to post about javascript. If this isnt the correct section, Now, onto the question (please note, I am inexperienced with javascript). I have an Adobe form with a default text like this I have javascript that looks like this, so that when tabbing into the field, it skips past the default text:
function SetEnd (text) { if (text.createTextRange) { var FieldRange = text.createTextRange(); FieldRange.moveStart('character', text.value.length); FieldRange.collapse(); FieldRange.select(); } } SetEnd(this);
I was wondering if there is a way to make it so the default text cant be changed at all. Even better would be an alternative way of having the default text there but not "part" of the field, but at the same time, not being able to type over it either.
I am looking for creating a grid/table that is editable online. I have browsed online for solutions, but I am short of time & I seem to getting more confused the more I search.
Basically I am trying to create a staff rota that the admin staff can edit online and save out so it is viewable - but not editable by staff members.
I have created a table that allows the user to edit specific cells by clicking on them. Their new entered values set the value on the table. They then should be able to submit a form which sets several hidden inputs equal to the values in the table then passing the information to a php page to process. However, the php page doesn't output anything when it is submitted. This is the form layout.
I have a text box which will receive its value from a pop-up date picker. The user should not be able to edit this field with the keyboard or mouse.
I am using ASP.NET. If I set the readonly property of the textbox to true, it won't let the user change it and it can receive its value from the pop-op calendar, just what I need. Problem is, after a postback, value is lost.
So I think Javascript may come to the rescue here. Is there a way to make a field "non user-editable" without setting the "readonly" attribute? Maybe a trick to make the field reject focus?
I have a little bit of Javascript that runs fine, but I am trying to write some XML out so that it is the value of a hidden field. When I put it in the hidden field, it just shows the javascript instead of the value.
So, instead of showing the value of i++ it is showing <script>i++</script>
What I want it to show:
What it is showing
It works in the regular page, just not when I make it the value of the hidden form field. Sorry, kinda new to javascript.
getting data from a url and placing it into a table. I am trying to get the daily threshold securities list that is published daily on the nasdaq site. The data published today is for yesterday's threshold securities. The url changes everyday according to the date eg: [URL]. The script that I managed to hack together does get the correct url everyday, but I am unable to insert the data into a dynamically created table. Here is what I have so far:
Code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html lang="en"> <head> <title>ShoList</title>
I can't seem to get an alert to show me anything. The eventual result is not an alert, but a document.write to post the url contents to various form fields for firstname= and lastname= etc.
I am really having a hard time using the document.write function, and am not sure how to employ it, whether in the same script statement or in a separate script in the body.
I am trying to get this to work, but I feel like I am missing something simple.How can I get the JavaScript to write the value of a variable to a table cell? Could you take a look at the script and point me in the right direction?
Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head>[code]......
Basically all I'm trying to do is use substrings to write one random letter of the alphabet into a 2x4 or 4x2 grid or table.
I want to keep the code I have, as I'll need to do more with it later. Again, all I get 8 defined boxes each with one letter in each. I don't want to have any of the existing code changed
Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> var pairs;
this is my first thread here, but I've read your forum a lot as unregistered user. I've searched the web for a complete Javascript or some hint, but I didn't find an interesting script or article to implement what I've thought. There's a way to write text or number from the keyboard directly in a:
My application uses Web pages whose grid is defined by several tables. I noticed a funny behavior on IE and Firefox which is giving me pains.
Apparently, when the browser renders a <table> tag and before it reaches the </table> end tag, any document.write actions in Javascript get deferred execution till closure of table instead of occuring at runtime as they are parsed. Code:
I was wondering if there was a way to dynamically read a field input and respond to it later in the form. My situation is this: I have a question that asks how many workers are employed at a business. Later in the form, the user is asked to add as many workers as they have (section with information on each worker) ..Is there a way I can have something echoed or document.write above the latter section saying "Please add (Number of workers listed above) sections for each worker employed"
On the click of a table row I want to call a function and pass a that particular table row as a table row object to a function. I was wondering how I would do that? And also if I could grab the number of that table row as well.
