Editable Table (allows The User To Edit Specific Cells By Clicking On Them) / Form
Aug 29, 2010
I have created a table that allows the user to edit specific cells by clicking on them. Their new entered values set the value on the table. They then should be able to submit a form which sets several hidden inputs equal to the values in the table then passing the information to a php page to process. However, the php page doesn't output anything when it is submitted. This is the form layout.
I'm trying to implement is a table with editable rows and columns that will feed back into a database. If I could do it with AJAX that would be great too, but I'm not too familiar with javascript. I don't need the code, I need more of an idea. The HTML Table is currently a recreation of the MySQL table minus a few columns. Its all in text, but if I could make the text editable, or better yet, make the text turn into input boxes it would be really cool. I'm not really sure what kind of methods and properties I would need, or quite how to put it all together. What do you think is the best way to go about the entire project?
How would I make an normal form input field go from editable (where someone can write text into it) to solid text (not editable) simply by clicking anywhere on the page away from the field And then.. ..the reverse. Clicking on the non-editable text would suddenly create a form field (with that text in it) once again editable. Possible with JavaScript?
I am using jQuery and blockUI to prevent the user from submitting a form twice by double clicking on the interface: This is in my global js file and is called on every pages
I have a table that I wrote/borrowed a function to clone a row in a table. I want the new row to be cleared of data.
$("#addrow").live("click", function() { //clone last row to variable var row = $('#dataTable tbody>tr:last').clone(true); //clear text boxes
[Code]....
The code to clear the text boxes and selection boxes work great. The code to clear the text from the table cells that do not have a form element do not work at all. The .Client and .Project cells that I want to clear are populated by an ajax call and the .total cell is populated by a function that sums the values the text boxes.
I have this page - [URL] in which i want to make the table editable, for our members to enter their job details..
In the table, the title would have to be linked so i need some sort of function for user to link their text into a url link
The page will be viewable by all but only our members using password can edit the table and when they have press save the page will get updated - kinder like a cms
User enters integer values into an editable gridview. JS is meant to keep a running total in the gridview footer template while user enters the values. User clicks 'Save' button. The values are saved to database table.
Problems:
1. JS does not keep a running total if there is already values saved in a database table. (Explaination: If user clicks 'select all', the previously added values are loaded. Can edit these and running total works. But, if user is entering numbers for the first time into a blank editable gridview, the js does not work).
2. Cannot access label in gridview footer template. 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object'. If label is placed in normal gridview row, it is fine. However, it needs to be in the footer.
javascript function
Meant to be in footer template but placed in normal row for now:
I am looking for creating a grid/table that is editable online. I have browsed online for solutions, but I am short of time & I seem to getting more confused the more I search.
Basically I am trying to create a staff rota that the admin staff can edit online and save out so it is viewable - but not editable by staff members.
How in javascript can I swap the cells in a table? I know I can copy the innerHTML and style and other bits manually but can I just swap 2 cells in different rows?
I am confuseif i use JS.. its should be in <head> but table should be in <body>.. how am i going to use that.. and put images in that table cell using JS?
In my attempt to understand the workings of the code at: [URL].. I modified it a bit. My question is: What am i doing wrong with the 'testContents()' function? The rows of the table see to be added to the display, but I can not confirm that fact with the test function.
I am a newbie in this field and never have done any scripting as i dont belong to this field.Just now trying to learn html and javascript. I have written a very simple HTML code having a table containing some columns like market,account number,user id,racf id etc. Below given is my code:
Code: <html> <head> <title>E 1.3</title> <h3> Information regarding various markets is given below</h3> </head> <body ALINK="#FF0000" LINK="#0000FF" VLINK="#FF33FF" bgcolor="#FFFFCC"> <table border="1" bgcolor="#CCFFCC" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="5"> <thead> [Code]...
This code i completely html but i am posting here in javascript forum because i need a javascript function which can be embedded in this html code so that the columns account number and and user id become editable. Means: this code is not complete as of now.In account number and user id column i can enter at the max three strings for every market.The whole page will be static only except the account number and user id field in the table.My question is how to make this particular column editable.Means i need to have two buttons.Clicking first button makes the field editable and i can edit the column and when i click the other button eg:save or something then the cuesor automatically goes away and the page becomes uneditable until i click the first button.
I have written a simple webpage that presents a table. A JS function allows the viewer to click on a cell and each cell with the same content has the background color changed to lime green. Each cell that was previously highlighted has the background color changed back to white. This works great with Firefox but does not work correctly with IE. In IE, none of the previously highlighted cells has the background color changed back to white. How can I modify the syntax so that it will work in both browsers? Below is the JS function...
but if I once resize the block called res, it always select block called drop and I'd like to split the cells only if I just resizing the block called res.
I know that JQuery is a very powerful library and was just wondering if it had the following capability that I really need.
Lets say I need to insert new cells into a table row, I know how to do this basic task, but I need to insert my cells in a highly unusual way due to some of the requirements that are needed for the new cells.
I need to be able to insert cells a certain distance into the row, For example, if a row was 1000pixels wide, is there a feature in JQuery that would allow me to insert the cell 250pixels into the row and have a cell width of 50pixels and insert another cell 500pixels into the row with a cell width of 100pixels. I know how to set a cells width using JQuery, just not distance into a row.
The values wont ever be the exact same as above though because they are actually read from a database, so for example, one cell would have the following values [code]...
I have a query regarding the hide/show of the cells in a table.
The first column is 'Yes and No' options using combo box, 2nd option is 'input field', 3rd column is also 'Yes and No' option using combo box, and 4th option is also 'input field'.
What I want is to make a table using JAVASCRIPT, in which if i select 'No' from the first row first column, i want to hide the remaining 3 cells of the first row. Otherwise if i select 'yes' from the first row first column i want to show all the 3 other options of the first row. Also in between if I select 'No' from the first row third column i want to hide the first row fourth column cell. Selecting 'yes' from the first row third column will show the first row fourth column.
I want apply the same setting of hide and show cells into the remaining columns also.
By selecting 'no' from first column -> hide other corresponding cells of the row by selecting 'yes' from the first column -> show other corresponding cells of the row
AND ALSO
By selecting 'no' from third column -> hide fourth cell of the corresponding/same row by selecting 'yes' from the third column -> show fourth cell of the corresponding/same row
I tried to add links to open local xml files in browser in a dynamic table cells. I tried all ways but I think I miss something. I can open them without table just by document.write(xmlfile location).
Here is my code. function showResultsTable(searched, srchedname) { // get the reference for the body var mybody = document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0]; // creates a <table> element and a <tbody> element mytable = document.createElement("table"); mytable.setAttribute('id', 'resulttable'); mytablebody = document.createElement("tbody"); // creating all cells var mycurrent_cell = new Array();
// appends the row <tr> into <tbody> mytablebody.appendChild(mycurrent_row); } // appends <tbody> into <table> mytable.appendChild(mytablebody); // appends <table> into <body> mybody.appendChild(mytable); // sets the border attribute of mytable to 2; mytable.setAttribute("border", "2"); }
I'm trying to remove onchange events from <td> attributes but I can't get it working. I have tried many ways of doing this but this is the way that made most sense to me and still didn't work.This function adds a new row to the table "searchTableResults" and I'm trying to make it remove the onchange attributes on all cells from the previous row. This is sort of the same effect when adding records in Access (a row is added every time you add data in a cell in the last row)
function addSearchRow() { var mydiv = document.getElementById('searchTableResults').getElementsByTagName('tbody')[0]; var newRow = document.createElement('tr');
I have a query relating javascript hide/show cells in a table
I have created a table of 5 rows and 5 columns. The first row is drop down menu having Yes and No option and remaining cells in the row are two text box and two drop down menu.
I want to hide (or may be block) the other four cells as per the option selected from the drop down menu in the first row. If i select No from the drop down menu from the first row i want to hide the remaining cells in the row and if i select Yes I want to show the remaining cells in the row.
I have a page that has a scrolling ticker at the top and streaming video in the middle. I want the scrolling html marquee at the top to refresh every 30 seconds but I can't reload the entire page or the video will restart.
I know that javascript could do this but I have no idea where to start or how to do it.
has anyone done this and can paste me some code to use?
I'm dynamically creating an HTML table using JQuery. I'm not assigning id's to the tr or td tags in the table. The reason I'm not, is that it seems complicated, given that the table is initially loaded and then the user can add and delete rows. I'll also need to sort the table on demand.
I maintain the current row the user has clicked on as a global variable (curRow) using this... $("#prodTable tbody tr").live('click', function() { curRow = $(this)[0].rowIndex; });
I want to do input validations on certain cells based on values in other cells in the row. for example, the value of cellA cannot be greater than the sum of the values of cellB-CellD. The question is, given a certain table rowindex, how can I access the cells in the row? Is this not a good approach?
