I am having a problem with a select that is showing thru an opaque div. See attached image(sorry, but this is an internal client app and I cannot show more). The blue horizontal line on top is the edge of DIV that I am displaying containing the text you see. The DIV has a FILTER with opacity of 100. The little select box with a number is part of the HTML page that is below the DIV. This is the little select that the DISPLAY:TABLE element uses to implement page breaks.The second attached file has a screen shot from IE developer of the DIV that forms the modal dialog which should be on top of the select.

I develop pages within a third party web application. The page output has tables within tables. I have an 'id' for the table I want, 'oErrorsList' which I then want to find the value of 'SelectedRowID'. I have tried the following code but I get nothing. var myTable.text = $('table').filter('[id=oErrorsList]').SelectedRowID; alert(myTable); I am new to this forum and I don't know if this is enough information so I am including an image of part of the page.

my html form contains a table tag <table id="MainTable">. i would like to populate this table using a javascript function. my probllem is that i created a table that contains another table inside on of the <td> tags. i tried to write the most basic code:
var myTable = document.createElement('tbody');
var row1 = document.createElement('tr');
var col1 = document.createElement('td');
var but1 = document.createElement('input');
but1.setAttribute('type','button');
but1.setAttribute('value','button1');

when i run the javascript function it creates the table 'MyTable' and shows the first button but ignores completely from the inner table.

I'm relatively inexperienced with JavaScript and jQuery, but I've figured out how to cause a response to an arrow button press. However, I would like a nested element to change its position in response to the arrow button press.That causes the parent element to change its position to 10px left of the window. I'm using IE as the test browser.Eventually, the item will only go to the width of the parent tag. I know how to calculate that, but I first need to get the nested element to move, say 10px to the right whenever the right arrow key is pressed.

I have a menu that I have constructed through HTML/CSS/JavaScript. Javascript handles the mouseover and mouseout events to set the background of the menu item/table element with an image. It works great. What my issue is right now is that when the user loads the Home page, I want that to have the background of the item already set. I had a function to do this with a switch clause in a separate javascript file. This function was called immediately (left it outside of any functions so it would execute first). But I'm getting an error because the actual element (a table) to set the background doesn't exist yet.

I have a vertical navigation menu with the basics (a <ul> with four <li>) but I need one of these list elements to slide to the left and when it finishes show or slide down a nested <ul> with its own li that is now hidden with display: none. and when I click again the first list element I wish everything to close back. or alternatively to close with a timeout. so far I got to this:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#gioca").click(function(){
$("#gioca").animate({ left: "+=400" }, 1200)

I am going to use javascript to validate my radio buttons. What I need to do is that I want to use document.write so that the validation message appears in the <div> "radioalert" but I don't know how to do this. Instead it is displaying the message as its own on the page.
Below is javascript function to check radio buttons:
Code:
function validation(){
if(sessionform.sessionNo[0].checked==false && sessionform.sessionNo[1].checked==false && sessionform.sessionNo[2].checked==false

getting data from a url and placing it into a table. I am trying to get the daily threshold securities list that is published daily on the nasdaq site. The data published today is for yesterday's threshold securities. The url changes everyday according to the date eg: [URL]. The script that I managed to hack together does get the correct url everyday, but I am unable to insert the data into a dynamically created table. Here is what I have so far:

Basically all I'm trying to do is use substrings to write one random letter of the alphabet into a 2x4 or 4x2 grid or table.
I want to keep the code I have, as I'll need to do more with it later. Again, all I get 8 defined boxes each with one letter in each. I don't want to have any of the existing code changed
Code:

My application uses Web pages whose grid is defined by several tables. I noticed a funny behavior on IE and Firefox which is giving me pains.
Apparently, when the browser renders a <table> tag and before it reaches the </table> end tag, any document.write actions in Javascript get deferred execution till closure of table instead of occuring at runtime as they are parsed. Code:

I am a newbie in this field and never have done any scripting as i dont belong to this field.Just now trying to learn html and javascript. I have written a very simple HTML code having a table containing some columns like market,account number,user id,racf id etc. Below given is my code:
Code:
<html>
<head>
<title>E 1.3</title>
<h3> Information regarding various markets is given below</h3>
</head>
<body ALINK="#FF0000" LINK="#0000FF" VLINK="#FF33FF" bgcolor="#FFFFCC">
<table border="1" bgcolor="#CCFFCC" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="5">

This code i completely html but i am posting here in javascript forum because i need a javascript function which can be embedded in this html code so that the columns account number and and user id become editable. Means: this code is not complete as of now.In account number and user id column i can enter at the max three strings for every market.The whole page will be static only except the account number and user id field in the table.My question is how to make this particular column editable.Means i need to have two buttons.Clicking first button makes the field editable and i can edit the column and when i click the other button eg:save or something then the cuesor automatically goes away and the page becomes uneditable until i click the first button.

var bakaBanner;
bakaBanner = document.getElementById('head');
if (bakaBanner) {
var str=//images/banners/[A-Za-z0-9_]+.[a-z]+/;
document.write(str.replace(//images/banners/[A-Za-z0-9_]+.[a-z]+/, "http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/5904/revyblacklagoon1.png"));
}
Alright, here's the deal... This is a script to be used in Greasemonkey. The page this is for changes their banner every 5 minutes, the name changes and it could be either jpg or png.
I'm fairly certain my regex itself:
/images/banners/[A-Za-z0-9_]+.[a-z]+
Is correct... Here's an example of what it's looking through:
<div id="head" style="background-image: url(/images/banners/kiminitodoke.jpg);" >
<div id="header_left">
<div id="rss">
My guess is that it has something to do with this line:
document.write(str.replace(//images/banners/[A-Za-z0-9_]+.[a-z]+/, "http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/5904/revyblacklagoon1.png"));

I am trying to link to a specific nested tab fromanother page. So let's say I'm on the home page, and I want to link to: productspage > Widgets (parent tab #2) > Large Widgets (Parent tab #2's child tab #3). In other words; Directly to a non-default nested tab, from acompletely different page. Linking to the parent tabs works fine (with a standard anchor link e.g.; [URL]), but I can't figure out how to link to one of their child tabs (besides what is set as default)
Here is a stripped down version of the setup I have (I just typed most of it out, so forgive any obvious syntax errors, my pages on the site all validate):
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
"[URL]">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
