I have a form that is calling a js function that does the actual submit. The action of the form points to a page on another server that I do not have the ability to edit.
My problem is that I need a way of tracking submissions and I'm having a hard time thinking of a way to do that. Anyone have any thoughts?
I have a form that captures users email addresses when they sign up for a enewsletter. I want to add this form submission into my google analytics and from what I have read the best way to do this is by tracking an event? I have added some jquery that I mashed together and I just want to know will this work? I added it today and I can only find out if it has truely worked by waiting 24 hours. I downloaded a program called fiddler (recommended in dot net magazine) to see tracking requests in action instead of waiting 24 hours but I can't see any of the field names displaying like AMF signup?

I have a page with the following properties:
Several non-form input elements (a text field, a few buttons).
There is an "add file" and a "remove file" button. Whenever the "add file" is clicked, new_file_count is incremented and a form is created (ID: "nc-" + new_file_count, NAME: "ncform", enctype: "multipart/form data"). Whenever "remove file" is clicked, the last form is removed, and new_file_count is decrimented. Each form has a hidden submit element named "NEW_SUBMIT".
There is also a text field button, when it is clicked, a hidden field in each form is updated, along with the text in a span element within each form. This works properly.
Finally, there is the non-form "Check in documents" button. When this is clicked, the function LAC_NEW_CHECKIN_CLICK is called (see end of mail). This should iterate through each form, and submit it, and the alerts I put in the validation function would suggest it is doing that.
However, when the actual LAC_submit_checkin function is executed, the checkin is not being executed as AJAX (I'm redirected to the json output of the first form).
The AJAX setup/trigger is in LAC_submit_checkin
i want to display contents of a form in a plane text format.
for that i want to track a number of textfields in the form.....
do i need to write a seperate line for each textfield ?

I have a js counter which keeps track of how many chars are in a field on an asp form. When the user clicks a button further down in the form, the form generates more fields. This also causes the js counter to reset to its original value, as the page is 'reloading' in a way. How can I check this value and keep it the same when the user clicks this button?

I am using cookies to track form data the user inputs. The data only needs to be available during their session. I have well over 80 fields. How can I combine some of the cookies to cut down on the amount. I am storing them with JS and retrieving them with php.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi have created an option on a website to give the possibity to the user to change the font size (smaller, bigger, reset), like the famous x3 'A' that we see in most of the websites. the code i have is based on a plugin copywrite to [URL]. now i'm facing a problem with different font size for different elements. to make the text bigger and smaller works like a charm but to reset the font size is not working so good. here is the code of the plug in the reset part:

here is how i'm calling the function: fontSize("#container", "#content *", 8, 12, 20); container is where i have the images to make the text smaller or bigger content is the div that has the content that i want it to be changed 8 is the smallest fonr size 12 default 20 max now the thing is that i have different font sizes in the page and some of them don't have a class just the <font> ....</font> when i'm clicking the rest button then i'm getting everything with size 12 and this is what i want to change. i want to remember the current font size and set it back.
I have a form which is submitted via $.post(). This posts data to the server script and then a response is sent back to the client script. I would like to prevent the execution of this post for 10 seconds after the first execution. This function is for a quick reply method, so naturally i dont want people to post replies every second, therefore i would like an interval between quick replies to discourage multiple spamming.

I'd like to have a bar at the top of my page (if you need an example, something simliar to FedEx to show where you package is along the way) that will get updated upon each page move so the user knows how far along they are in the process and how much farther they have to go?

I have around 30 check boxes in a form and I need to keep track of their status if they are checked or not and based on that change the data in the dom.
I am stuck on the logic of how to implement or code for 30 check boxes. I was using the below example code but there will be a lot of if statements as I need to always know what their status is. Is there a better way I can manage so many check boxes ?

Right now, I have multiple draggable windows on my site. The problem is, that only the most recently created box is draggable and I clicking the other box doesn't work.
Where you can click and drag different boxes. The problem is I don't know how to implement this. When the two boxes are up and I click on one box, it completly ignores the other box. I realize in my code I need to update widget1 but I'm not entirely sure how I can do that. I call the method below using: document.onmousedown=selectMouse; in my javascript

So I made a small Paper-Rock-Scissors game but I need to keep track how many times say "rock" has been clicked, what function should I use for that?
(For example, if the user has clicked rock 4 times, the computer will automatically assume that the user will continue with rock and says paper so it'll win the game.)
I'm running a test on my site for the mcafee secure logo, such that the mcafee logo will be shown to some visitors, and we track conversion rates with and without the logo. Naturally, mcafee have to keep track of the user vir the whole session, through to any 'thank you for buying' page. The code you place on the site is just an image, which includes in the url a reference to your domain.
The tech guy I spoke to suggested that the tracking happens via a cookie. But can this be done, when no script has been called from their server? The headers returned with the image show Content-Type: image/gif.
So basically I'm asking can cookies be set this way? If not then all I can see is that they're tracking urls only, which will be far from reliable.
How can I detect if a scrollbar inside a DIV is at the bottom of the track?
I have a div with overflow: auto. New content is added every 5 seconds, and if the user scrolls up to see old info, after 5 seconds it scrolls to the very bottom. I am trying to make it not autoscroll if the user isn't already at the very bottom of the scrollbar track.
Does anyone know the best way to detect and track a visitors screen resolution. I know the javascript to detect the users resolution but I am a bit confused on the best way to track and save this. Should I save it to a database or is it easier to save it to a text file?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have setting some cookies to track visitors to my site. I have my pages in folder music and in sub folders. I can access my site by typing: [url] So the domain will be: [url] and the path: /sara/music/
But the broblem is that other cookies are attached to my cookieby going to [url] or any link in it.
Is the problem from setting the path? If not how can I filter my cookie so i can just display my cookies only, I use one function to display all the cookies.
without outside extensions (http://remi.org/2009/01/06/using-firebug-to-debug-unobtrusive-javascript), how does one debug javascript events on a webpage that primarily relies on unobtrusive JS events? for instance, i have a website i log into that has a "submit" button. the button itself only has this code:

obviously, the only way that it can submit the form is to use javascript. and it's obviously unobtrusive in this case.consider the fact that it isn't my webpage, and i don't want to try to put random breakpoints everywhere blindly.
