How can I track the mouse coordinates outside the active window? No
one can tell me its not possible because Google Spreadsheets and
EditGrid both do it. When you drag down to select cells these
spreadsheet programs are capable of properly selecting the cells based
on where the mouse is, even though the mouse is way outside the
browser. I haven't been able to find any info on it or figure it out
myself. How is this possible?
I am trying to capture the mouse coordinates of a mouse down to a variable.Then on the mouse move event capture mouse coordinates again and compare the two in order to produce a difference that will ultimately trim an element.how to use these two functions to capture the coordinates into these two varibles.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been having an issue with Safari when it comes to getting mouse coordinates after clicking on an element - specifically the Y coordinate. For some reason, the 0 position is the bottom left corner of the window. The further down the page, the lower the number gets. This is crazy behavior - I have this stupid thing working in every other browser, but Safari.
My script is modeled after the standard Quirksmode script:

I have a Div that is set to display:none with CSS, and I have it set to appear when the mouse is hovered over an anchor. It all works fine and dandy, but I want the div to appear at the coordinates of my mouse cursor and follow it around until it's taking off of the anchor, when the div will be hidden again.

Are there javascript functions to find the cursor position of a mouse? Also, are there javascript functions to find if the mouse cursor is within a listbox? A C# code sample is shown below:

Now, the code I have now works perfectly fine, as advertised, but I had a bit of a hack with my mouse coordinates. The program is a simple one that creates an image at the spot where the user clicks.

The other problem I have is that it doesn't create the zombies at all in Chrome or IE. I believe it has something to do with the

because I've had troubles with that before.

But I do know that it can be used to "listen" for mouse clicks and such. So I am wondering how to go about it. Can I somehow, listen for mouseclicks a user makes, tracking what they clicked on, when they clicked on it, etc. inside a iframe, then pass the values thru php into my DB? I have also just started learning about cookies too, The other 'offer' sites I am a member of, and I would like to duplicate, (ex. www.inboxdollars.com) say sit uses cookies to track user actions for verifications.

Where you can click and drag different boxes. The problem is I don't know how to implement this. When the two boxes are up and I click on one box, it completly ignores the other box. I am still designing the website and want some flexibility. I am capturing the mouse clicks fine on top of an image, but the coordinates are absolute and not relative to the image. How can I capture mouse clicks relative to the image so that I can move the image anywhere in my website?

So I have to listen to the onmousedown,onclick events on parent document from a iframe and have to display the selected element's attributes like(tag name, id, name etc).
Is there a way to listen the mouse events (infact all the events) from the iframe.
Note: The parent document is from another domain.
Using onclick=window.open function in js to open a pdf file link in a new popup window. Works fine to display the file onscreen, but not if the user wants to save the file client-side to their computer. The right-hand-button context menu for the mouse will allow the user to download, but the file saved will be a html dump file for the webpage and the name of the file will be that for the webpage. Of course I can use the easy <a href> method for download links and the mouse context menu options will be as expected, but I can only use target="-blank" or target="_self". I need a popup window to open.
Could use :
oncontextmenu="alert('Left click the link to open, and then SAVE from with the pdf viewer')
to advise users how to save the file, and could use:
"javascript: void(0)"
To eliminate most mouse context menu options, so the user won't bother try. So how can I get a link to a file which can be viewed in a popup window and downloaded using mouse right-hand context menu?
I'm creating a script which causes the page to scroll when the mouse is held down within 1/3 of the page height of the window edge.
