want to swap the contents of two textarea fields in my form when a hyperlink is clicked.i have the hyperlink and layout donw just want to know how i access and set the form fields to their new values,
I was wondering if anyone had come across some javascript that would allow me to have a chart of say 20 music tracks, and be able to move each track up and down the chart using up/down links? I am sure I saw one about 3 years ago.
Consider this: A table with a form around it. Each row of the table is numbered 1 to 20. There will be a form field on each row for Artist, Title, Label, Mix and Genre. There will also be an up and down arrow to move the contents of each row up and down.
I need to create 2 javascript functions. 1 to swap the contents upwards, and one to swap downwards.
The link to go up or down will pass the row number to the function, and the fields that need swapping. The function will then take the values and swap them over.
Is this possible? And will it work cross-browser cross-platform? Any ideas?
The following form validation script works, currently if one of the five fields are completed, a message appears the remaining field(s) must be completed etc. Although the information the user has inputted in the first field is cleared. How can this information be available, if there is one problem in the form it doesn't make sense that the user must re-input all the information again. I look forward to hearing your response,
I have 2 fields in a form, field1 is type hidden while field2 is type text. Both will have numbers in them. I need to compare these 2 in my form validation and having issues getting it to work right. If I do something similar to the following:if ((passForm.field1.value) < (passForm.field2.value) ) {alert.....It runs, but is running the validation, but is reading the values as text and literally left to right.
so for example If field1 = 12 and field2=3 it does not run the alert (wrong) If field1 = 12 and field2=100 it runs the alert (wrong)
I have a form which is used to write recipes. I have a part of the form to list ingredients which uses 3 for fields, one for quantity one for measurement and one for the ingredient.Quantity is a text field and the other two are selects. The measurement select options are hard coded and the ingredients available are retrieved from a db and added with PHP. Under this I have a button that I would like to use to get the values of these form fields when clicked and apend to the value of a hidden form field which will be a multi dimensional array of those three values for each ingredient used. I would also like it to get the text values and print them to an empty element so the user can see what they are adding.
I am looking to build an expenditure calculator. What I am having problems with is I am using radio buttons to multiply form field values [radio1] = x 1 (week) [radio2] = x 4 (month) [radio3] = x 52 (year) So if you fill out a field and select [radio2] it multiplies the field by 4. If you then select [radio1] it reverts to the original value. Using JQuery what's the best way to do this. The issue I am having is I need to know the previous selected radio as well as the new one so I know whether to divide or multiply.
I have an ajax function which passes form field values to a PHP script which in turn saves the data to my database. all works great.
I now need to add a file input to my form and pass the file upload ot the same PHP script.
I have read an article [url] which explains how to do this but this would suggest it is a completely separate function.
My question is, is there anyway I can expand my existing function (below) to inlude the file upload process to save having 2 functions doing the same process?
etc.... and each one is different, related to an input field, and as you can see it is a radio input array, and all radio inputs are named add_id[1], add_id[2], add_id[3] and so on i want a javascript function that will swap all the values of these radio buttons to whatever the first on is set to, either 'yes' or 'no' Code:
i'm quite new to javascript and have an issue with an image swap script. I have three images that should change based on the value of a text field (total), however, there is only one image that is swapping. Please see the code below:
Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> //This is where we decare our function to validate the HTML form function validateform()
I have a web form with several fields. If I copy & paste from a RTF document into a field, the javascript validation and field length are bypassed and cause the form to fail.
Not exactly sure this is the right forum to post this but just to give it a shot.I am relatively new to programmming...I am currently working on a web appliation using MySQL DB and use PHP/SQL.I have a web form i have created. What i want to achieve is that when a user fills in one of the fields...a text field, i want 8 other fields to be AUTO filled with different values related to the one the user filled in
i have been tryin for a long time to get both of the javascripts(for the thumbnail to main img swap and the navigational arrow swap) to work in synchit needs to be so that after clicking on a thumbnail then on an arrow, the correct image in the correct order appears. as of now they are running separately and one has no influence on the other. forgive me if im not being clear. i keep trying to replace the id that one script is looking for with the same id from the other but this will not work..why?
I have seen this technique on a couple websites, but haven't been clear on how it's done. What I am looking for is to have a form with x-options. The technique is that when the first option is selected it auto updates the other options to correspond. For example if I was looking for specific cities in a state. Once a state is selected I am only given specific cities. The end result is to combine this with php and mysql, but I am sure if I understand the javascript aspect I can run with it.
i think this will help people a lot, cuz i couldn't find any simple answer by googling 3 hours...i need a very very simple jquery form field reset.here is the picture what i need:
HTML Code: <script type='text/javascript' src='http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.6.4.min.js'></script> <script>
The number of fields for each block varies because the page is constructed by a server function. What I want to implement is move up and a move down buttons on each block to move what the user has entered in say, block 4, to block 3 (and move the block 3 contents to block 4). And the contrary too.
my javascript code is only validating one field at a time (as in it validates on field then submits the form, instead of going through the entire thing and then returning it as true and submitting it...) I'm not sure what to do to be honest, I've looked up google to no real avail.. my variables are declared in a seperate file to the actual even handlers and I have heaps of comments through out it, so please don't judge lol i'm still learning Quote:
//Event Registrations (Variable Declarations) found in validation_chkr.js //Validate Entire Form using validate_join() function validate_join()
Is there a way I can calculate a field in a form based on another field in the same form. When clicking submit, both values should be posted to the next page. I want to be able to type in a value in one field, and automatically in a second field the value*1,36 should appear.
I have a site for property bookings with 2 calendars to enter start and end date. The calendar im using doesnt have any obvious facility to copy yhe date to 2 fields so each one has to be done, months in advance this can be a real pain.
Does anyone have any ideas how i can take the data inserted into one field and copy it to the second?
Can someone explain how I can use javascript (I am assuming this is the best way to do it) to add two field values together. I.e. field 1 plus field 2 equals field 3 (this is in a php form)
Also how can I set a field to be a value depending on what the user selects, i.e. they may have eight items to select from and each one has a different value.
The above javascript will then use that value to add to another field value to give a me a total value....
If member clicked 'remember me' on confirm alert after entering the loginid and password, browser will save this information. But if some other clicks on register/join on the same browser, the login and password fields are populating by default. If member didn't say 'remember me', like saying 'not now' or 'never for this site', it is not populating. Note: Both the form names have the same name. Is there anyway to fix it without changing the form name.
I type something on the current textarea/input and all the values get removed after I add another field.
<script language="Javascript" type="text/javascript"> <!-- //Add more fields dynamically. function addField(area, field, limit) { if(!document.getElementById) return; //Prevent older browsers from getting any further. var field_area = document.getElementById(area); var all_inputs = field_area.getElementsByTagName("input"); //Get all the input fields in the given area. //Find the count of the last element of the list. It will be in the format '<field><number>'.
If the //field given in the argument is 'friend_' the last id will be 'friend_4'. var last_item = all_inputs.length - 1; var last = all_inputs[last_item].id; var count = Number(last.split("_")[1]) + 1;
//If the maximum number of elements have been reached, exit the function. //If the given limit is lower than 0, infinite number of fields can be created. if(count > limit && limit > 0) return; //Older Method field_area.innerHTML += "<li><textarea id='steps' name='steps[]' rows='5' cols='40'>
