I'm searching for a pre-made cookie script or a tutorial on making a simple session cookie. Just a cookie to make sure users are getting most current copies of HTML pages on my site.
Up till now I've just had messages on each page instructing them to refresh to make sure the have the latest version.
I'm trying to create a simple checkout system that utilizes cookies to pass information from page to page. Currently, my entire script works fine except for the read cookie portion. I cannot figure out what is wrong with it. It has been validated and the syntax is fine; it just doesn't work. I use the function with the onload call on my html file such as:

I'm not very good with Javascript so I need you help for page on my website. Basically what I need to do is to make a DIV shown only first time someone visits page, and then when he/she revisit it I want that same DIV hidden, and I want it hidden for next 24 hours... so in that way DIV would be shown only once a day, and only on first page load.
So to make that happen I need to do fallowing, and I would need your help for that: I need a script that on a page load checks if cookie (which is 24h cookie) is set, if it is then it should hide that DIV, if it is not set then it should set it, so that DIV would be hidden on next page load..
I have an embedded video set in an iFrame (the page is called on.php). When someone clicks the stop video button, the iframe is re-directed to off.php, and the video is replaced with a play video button -- which when clicked takes them back to the video (on.php).
What I want to do is install a cookie that will permanently 'remember' which page the user has selected (on.php or off.php)... and then from that point forward will always load the appropriate page.
I've seen all sorts of tutorials about setting cookies and stuff, but nothing that would clue me in on how to accomplish what I'm trying to do specifically.

The code is working correctly but due to the page load time - there is a delay in the new header image appearing when switching pages.

Is there anyway to avoid this delay or will i be forced to grin and bear it due to the weight of the pages i�m loading in.
The original page is visible for a very short moment, before the modifications done with the javascript are visible. This is logic to me, sinceI add my javascriptat the end of the page, as recomended. For the user it is a little confusing. Is there a way that the user sees only the page with the javascript modifications?

Basically, I want a page to load, and then every 5 seconds be able to check a file to see if it has been modified since the last time the page loaded. If it has refresh, if not then wait 5 more seconds. Is this possible using javascript?

MY PROBLEM:
OK, if you load this up into your browser, you can see I have two lines of text that show/hide themselves by clicking on the other line. I know how to set the cookie name and the two different values ("show_hide_cookie=line1", "show_hide_cookie=line2") and I can see that they are there when I view my browser's cookies. But I've spent hours trying to figure out the javascript code to get it to read the cookie and remember the preferences. Right now of course, if you click on the first line and then refresh your browser, it resets the second line back to the first line.
I have found a useful script at [URL] which shows the date a page was last modified. I have put it at [URL] where it works perfectly. But the same script with a PHP file extension as here [URL] only shows the current time. There is no PHP in the page, but somehow the PHP processor seems to be upsetting it.

So I have a working version of a pop up that loads 10 seconds after I open a page. I also have a working version that sets a cookie for when the pop up is closed. However, I need to get a little more functionality with this.

1.) My first task it to combine the two. I still need the popup that comes up after 10 seconds, but I also need the jquery to check if a cookie is set. (I load the jquery cookie plugin for this code)
2.) If there is no cookie and the pop up comes up there are three ways of closing the pop up.
- x button on the top right corner: if this is clicked, a 24 hour cookie should be set

Sometimes it doesn't fully execute for the user because they close or click onto another page before the javascript is completely done. Is there anyway I can let all of the javascript load first and slow down the actual page load of the website.

I am using a very simple search-type page to enable users to input a model number and its page appears in a inline frame. Its not a true search as it is simply relying on a person entering the correct html page name to find it. But this works perfectly in my application.The problem I have is that I cannot get the type box to accept enter key as a submitt, only a click of the mouse will submitt the request. If enter is pressed the box loses the users input but no action is taken.I think this may be a javascript issue. I have posted the code below.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with the status bar in Mozilla and Netscape showing that
it is still waiting on the page to load even after it is finished. This
problem does NOT occur with IE.
In summary, I am using a onLoad event in the BODY tag to communicate back to
another server each time a page finishes loading. I do this by using a "new
Image()" and setting the .src property to the server. The .src includes a
value in the querystring so I know what request it was that finished
loading.
The challenge here is that the status bar still shows "Transferring data
from www.mysite.com..." despite the image being loaded. It never clears and
leaves the user with the impression that there was a problem loading the
page. My web server logs at the mysite.com show that the browser does
indeed make a request for the image and I get the querystring just fine and
it returns a status of 200 so the image is being found and served ok.
I've tried everything I can think of to solve this and really could use your
help please. Bottom line is that if you use the "new Image" statment from
within the OnLoad event of the Body tag, Netscape and Mozilla never seem to
update the status bar to show "Done" despite it succesfully loading the
image.
