I'm not very good with Javascript so I need you help for page on my website. Basically what I need to do is to make a DIV shown only first time someone visits page, and then when he/she revisit it I want that same DIV hidden, and I want it hidden for next 24 hours... so in that way DIV would be shown only once a day, and only on first page load.
So to make that happen I need to do fallowing, and I would need your help for that: I need a script that on a page load checks if cookie (which is 24h cookie) is set, if it is then it should hide that DIV, if it is not set then it should set it, so that DIV would be hidden on next page load..
I am absolute javascipt newbie so please threat me like that I need the following functionality to my webpage: Let's say I have a div with some unique ID on my page. Now, what I need is to show this div on my page only the first time visitor opens a page, and then not show it every next time he/she opens it for next 24h.
So I need to set a cookie that hides div from page if it has already been shown to visitor, for next 24h,so that the content of this div will be shown to each unique visitor only once for a day.
I'm searching for a pre-made cookie script or a tutorial on making a simple session cookie. Just a cookie to make sure users are getting most current copies of HTML pages on my site.
Up till now I've just had messages on each page instructing them to refresh to make sure the have the latest version.
I have an embedded video set in an iFrame (the page is called on.php). When someone clicks the stop video button, the iframe is re-directed to off.php, and the video is replaced with a play video button -- which when clicked takes them back to the video (on.php).
What I want to do is install a cookie that will permanently 'remember' which page the user has selected (on.php or off.php)... and then from that point forward will always load the appropriate page.
I've seen all sorts of tutorials about setting cookies and stuff, but nothing that would clue me in on how to accomplish what I'm trying to do specifically.
I am currently using onload="document.getElementById("hidepage").style.visibility="hidden";" to try to hide a div box. Yet this will not work. I've tried FF, IEpp4 (IE platform preview 4) and IE9beta. This is the correct <div> id, and I do not know why this will not work.
Im using iframes and i want to hide a url in my status bar while page loads. I have got many status bar scripts but all works after the url displaying in status bar.I want to hide a url on page load or a script that can hide/disable my status bar in I.E 8 , Mozilla and Chrome
I am trying to use javascript to hide a div before the page loads. Unfortunately for a brief second I can see the div on the page before the java script hide it. Is there anyway to set the javascript to hide the div before the page completely loads?
P.S. I'm using the hide function within the moo.fx.js file found @ http://moofx.mad4milk.net/. If there is an easier way to di by just write the javascript out in the onload function please let me know.
I have small online shop and in the top section I have a mini cart, which a user can click on and expand an area to see what products they have added to their cart. The problem I am having is that for a brief moment when the page initially loads the expandable area becomes visible until I the .ready (hide) function kicks in. Is there any way that I can actually hide the cart on page initialisation so its not visible even for a brief moment?
I am trying to hide tables when a page initially loads and only display them when a button is pressed. When the page loads the tables show and I need then to be hidden. What am I doing wrong? I am new to this.
Here is the code that I have so far.
<Script = text/javascript> function show_hide(tblid, show) { if (tbl = document.getElementById(tblid)) { if (null == show) show = tbl.style.display == 'none'; tbl.style.display = (show ? '' : 'none');
onClick event binded on <li> tag with live() works fine. But I need to hide some tags immediately after ajax call. The jquery script is included together with some HTML code in returned HTTPrespons content data. Is it possible to do this without setting css display:none property?
I am working on a page currently:my test page. As you will see, i have a jcarousel slideshow loading on the right side of the homepage. You may also see that when the site loads, you can see the images in the UL list loading before they turn into the carousel. How can I hide this/clean this up?
I need to see if I can shorten this AND see if I can have a "show all option" added. The page is setup like so.. I have the following javascript working.. I'm running jquery... being a semi newbie it took a while to get this running.I have 4 DISTINCT queries that load up select boxes. There are 4 select boxes .. on change, the queries will see what option was selected and re-run DISTINCT SQL queries so all the select boxes only have related info.. so no one ends up with a "zero" results.I'm hiding these to help walk through in a logical order. However I need to1) Have a show all and let them select anything they wish and show all 4 boxes. How can I add a "show all" to the script below2) I noticed on page load the boxes show and then slowly hide. THis looks messy.. how can I alter that?3) This seems long for what I'm doing.. is there a way I can shorten this code? What if I expand to 8 boxes.. then I'll have 8 simple if statements.. but it seems unnecessary.CODE that is working is
$(document).ready(function () { if ($("#pMaterial option").is(":selected")) {
I am trying to finish a script that shows a particular div based on the last 2 chars in the cookie value. I have the cookie part done. how to show hide part.
I have a script I am trying to use to show or hide a div id. It uses a cookie, set on link click, to remember if the div should be displayed or not.
It works, but I'm having two problems:
1) The function only shows/hides the first instance of the div, not all instances.
2) Reloading the page after an initial cookie set causes the div to always initially be displayed regardless of the last cookie value (cookie seems to automatically re-set itself to 'tutor-show').
Here is the code:
You can see it in action here: uomeds{dt}com/cbl/cbl-2.htm
I'm basically looking for script that uses hide show functionality. with the addition of save state ability based on a cookie that remembers what item the user last expanded for his/her previous visit.
In other words lets say a user expands a link that has a list of information.
Then the user leaves the page and comes back to the same page. It would be ideal if that page remembers(via cookie) what the user last expanded.
Does ANYONE... know where or can perhaps paste some sample code?
I have cpa gateway on a site that when the customer completes a function of the gateway. The external js of the gateway sends a command to the website to reload the site.Is there any way I can have some sort of event listener to know if that command is sent or not? The problem I'm having is its causing a loop in my existing JS.So it keeps looping the page. I would like to be able to set a cookie when the command is sent and then just have the cpa gateway not load.
MY PROBLEM: OK, if you load this up into your browser, you can see I have two lines of text that show/hide themselves by clicking on the other line. I know how to set the cookie name and the two different values ("show_hide_cookie=line1", "show_hide_cookie=line2") and I can see that they are there when I view my browser's cookies. But I've spent hours trying to figure out the javascript code to get it to read the cookie and remember the preferences. Right now of course, if you click on the first line and then refresh your browser, it resets the second line back to the first line.
I have a single webpage that contains information on all 50 U.S. states. There are 50 links at the top to jump down to the state you want, and at the bottom of the information for each state a Back to Top link.
I'm making the Back to Top link into something more complex, and it will require three or four lines of code.
So that I don't have to repeat the code 50 times, and create a burden when I need to edit it, I want to place it in a .js file and call it x. Then below the information for each state I'll simply have:
Does calling code from a .js file 50 times slow down the page load? Which method would load faster?
So I have a working version of a pop up that loads 10 seconds after I open a page. I also have a working version that sets a cookie for when the pop up is closed. However, I need to get a little more functionality with this.
Here is what I have now, the code that makes pop up come up 10 seconds after
1.) My first task it to combine the two. I still need the popup that comes up after 10 seconds, but I also need the jquery to check if a cookie is set. (I load the jquery cookie plugin for this code)
2.) If there is no cookie and the pop up comes up there are three ways of closing the pop up.
- x button on the top right corner: if this is clicked, a 24 hour cookie should be set
- remind me later link: if this link is clicked, the same 24 hour cookie should be set
- dont show again: if this one is clicked, a longer cookie is set
Now I am having problem the remove attributes are written on base of .change if I load the cookie at first then typeo option's disable attribute not getting removed. how can I use remove disable attributes and load cookies?
I have some javascript code that does some GET and POST requests that are required. Sometimes it doesn't fully execute for the user because they close or click onto another page before the javascript is completely done. Is there anyway I can let all of the javascript load first and slow down the actual page load of the website.
I'm trying to use the cookie plugin to remember the state of a navigation menu from page to page. Here is the snippet of code from towards the top of my page where I am including the jquery files and cookie plugin. The second part of the sample tries to determine whether the cookie exists.
I'm trying to create a simple checkout system that utilizes cookies to pass information from page to page. Currently, my entire script works fine except for the read cookie portion. I cannot figure out what is wrong with it. It has been validated and the syntax is fine; it just doesn't work. I use the function with the onload call on my html file such as:
Is it faster/more beneficial to have two snippets of code be generated by php at 2 different urls and then have a load function for each url? Or have the two snippets on one page, surrounded by id's and then load them that way?
I am a middleware developer for a design and manufacturing software. We recently have gone from using Crystal reports to using xml based reporting. I am just begining to write reports using xsl, css and java script and transforming to html. The report I am working on has several tables each in a separate div. These tables are populated based on the xml file output form a job file. Base on job settings one or more tables may have no information in them. What I would like to do is hide the divs with empty tables when the page is loaded. I have looked through the forums here and on other sites and have found perhaps hundreds of examples of java script for showing and hiding divs with user input or by being set to a hide state by default. However I need it to be more dynamic.
