Hide Div Using Cookie If Page Has Been Already Loaded?

Apr 24, 2009

I am absolute javascipt newbie so please threat me like that I need the following functionality to my webpage: Let's say I have a div with some unique ID on my page. Now, what I need is to show this div on my page only the first time visitor opens a page, and then not show it every next time he/she opens it for next 24h.

So I need to set a cookie that hides div from page if it has already been shown to visitor, for next 24h,so that the content of this div will be shown to each unique visitor only once for a day.

On Page Load, If Cookie Set Then Hide Div?

Jun 15, 2009

I'm not very good with Javascript so I need you help for page on my website. Basically what I need to do is to make a DIV shown only first time someone visits page, and then when he/she revisit it I want that same DIV hidden, and I want it hidden for next 24 hours... so in that way DIV would be shown only once a day, and only on first page load.

So to make that happen I need to do fallowing, and I would need your help for that: I need a script that on a page load checks if cookie (which is 24h cookie) is set, if it is then it should hide that DIV, if it is not set then it should set it, so that DIV would be hidden on next page load..

Hide Or Display Form Field When Page Loaded?

Jul 6, 2011

I have a form with three fields. When the user changes the value of field1, the form displays either field2 or field3. This works fine for NEW records.However, I'm running into a problem when trying to EDIT an existing record. When the form is loaded, I need to test the value of field1 and display either field2 or field3. I've tried using the form onload event, but do not know how to access the value of field1.I'm using Javascript and div tags.This is what I have so far.

Show - Hide A Div Based On A Cookie?

Dec 28, 2009

I have a script I am trying to use to show or hide a div id. It uses a cookie, set on link click, to remember if the div should be displayed or not.

It works, but I'm having two problems:

1) The function only shows/hides the first instance of the div, not all instances.

2) Reloading the page after an initial cookie set causes the div to always initially be displayed regardless of the last cookie value (cookie seems to automatically re-set itself to 'tutor-show').

Here is the code:

You can see it in action here: uomeds{dt}com/cbl/cbl-2.htm

Cookie Based Hide Show Div Tag ?

Oct 17, 2011

I'm basically looking for script that uses hide show functionality. with the addition of save state ability based on a cookie that remembers what item the user last expanded for his/her previous visit.

In other words lets say a user expands a link that has a list of information.

Then the user leaves the page and comes back to the same page. It would be ideal if that page remembers(via cookie) what the user last expanded.

Does ANYONE... know where or can perhaps paste some sample code?

Hide Image Until Fully Loaded

Sep 15, 2011

I am loading some content dynamically using the .load() function in jQuery.So once the content is loaded, div#slider moves to reveal the new content. The div will move once all the text is loaded but not the images, which is fine. The images will be loading when the viewer first clicks on a.load-button.What I'd like to do is to hide the image until it is fully loaded into the cache, have an animated 'loading' gif as a background image, then BOOM, the image appears in one go with .show();I'm a little unsure how to approach this, since I'm already using the .load() callback function. I've tried using $(window).load(function(show image)), but jQuery dosen't like that.

Can't Get Cookie To Remember Simple Show / Hide Preferences - Fix It?

Feb 3, 2009

FIRST THE CODE...

MY PROBLEM:
OK, if you load this up into your browser, you can see I have two lines of text that show/hide themselves by clicking on the other line. I know how to set the cookie name and the two different values ("show_hide_cookie=line1", "show_hide_cookie=line2") and I can see that they are there when I view my browser's cookies. But I've spent hours trying to figure out the javascript code to get it to read the cookie and remember the preferences. Right now of course, if you click on the first line and then refresh your browser, it resets the second line back to the first line.

JQuery :: Hide Until Background Image Loaded?

May 17, 2010

I have a set of divs on my portfolio page that all share the common class 'module', with an additional class that determines the background image.I currently have this function that I thought would keep each instance of .module hidden until it had loaded:

$('.module').ready(function(){
$('.module').fadeIn('9000');
});

I'm not certain but I think the 'ready' only refers to the HTML content and ignores the fact that the background image (defined in css) isn't ready.Is there any simple way I can make each div stay hidden until the background is loaded, then perform show() or fadeIn()???
The page in question can be found at http:[url]....

JQuery :: Hide Part Of What Loaded With .load()?

Sep 22, 2011

I'm working on an embedded device and I want to display only part of the original configuration page by building a jQuery page on top of it. Unfortunately, the code that generated the pages was not ajax friendly in the sense that the only way I have to identify the parts I want to show or hide is the class attribute. Up to now, I've been able to load the page with the simple code:

If you want to load some content into a div and then manipulate it afterwards ((ie: loading something your use a template for a message window and then want to change the message contents) you *must* do it by wrapping it in the completed function handler..

Don't just throw it a few lines down, you'll get random chances that the selector will

Hide CSS Background Images Until Fully Loaded?

Dec 2, 2009

I'm using a double background image for a site - basically two containers around everything, one with a gif with patches of different colour, and above it a semi-opaque png with a very faint texture. I'm doing it this way as it makes for much faster loading than one jpg with the image and texture combined.

The only problem is that you see the gif load first, then the texture goes over it. Is there any way, perhaps with JS, to hide these background images until they're both fully loaded, then display them together?

JQuery :: Calling .hide On Dynamically Loaded Content - Without Using Click Or Similar?

Oct 30, 2010

which works once the page hasn't been loaded using.load $(".toggle_cat_container").hide(); How do I adapt it to work when the page is loaded with .load? I am familiar with needing to use .live on click functions.

i.e.
$("a[id^='mydiv']").click(function(e) {
needing to be changed to:
$("a[id^='mydiv]").live('click', function(e) {

My problem is that $(".toggle_cat_container").hide(); would trigger when the document was ready but when its loaded it won't trigger. What adaptation do I need? I suspect something similar to the below - just not getting it right $(".toggle_cat_container").live('onLoad', function(e) {

JQuery :: Triggering Click Event On Parent Page From A Page Being Loaded Via .html()

Jun 9, 2010

<span id = "edit">Edit</span>
<div id = "cont">

[Code]....

Unfortunately this does not seem to work, entirely. It does trigger the click event but it messes up the post for some reason. I have played around with it for the last 45 minutes or so and it seems like the click event trigger is what is messing things up, if I comment it out it works fine. Could anyone tell me why they think this is? note this is an over simplified version of my actual code, but the structure is the same.

Dynamically Change The Font Family Of The Loaded Html Page Of The Main Page?

Nov 4, 2010

On my webpage, I dynamically create an iFrame when a button is pressed, then load a html page from within my own domain into the iframe, based on what html page is loaded into a variable. My question is, can I dynamically change the font family of the loaded html page from the javascript of the main page? My code to create the iframe is:

function setSubTxt(){
var par = document.getElementById('parentDiv');
par.innerHTML = '<iframe src="'+subTxt+'" style="width: 375px; position: fixed; height: 365px; left: 400px; top: 145px; border=none;" name="subIframe" frameBorder=0></iframe>';
frames['subIframe'].window.location=subTxt;
document.subIframe.document.body.style.fontFamily = "Arial";
[Code]....

the variable "subTxt" has the url of the html page to be loaded (always on the same domain). The code: document.subIframe.document.body.style.fontFamily = "Arial"; was my attempt to dynamically change the font, but it didn't work. Also, it should be noted that there is no font family set in the html pages which would override this.

Set A Cookie When User Enters A Page?

May 22, 2010

I'm trying to set a cookie when a user enters a page. The cookie is for youtube to make videos default to widescreeen.

I know that the cookie name is wide, the value should be set to 1, the domain should be .youtube.com but I dont know how to do it properly. Ive been trying to set it from a link, so when a user clicks the link and it opens in a frame, the cookie is set so that the youtube video opens as widescreen in the frame.

however, whenever I look at my list of cookies, it isnt being created.

is this the best way to do this?

(I found how the cookie is created by checking the values of the cookies when I pressed the 'right turn' arrow on a youtube video)
