JQuery :: Hide A Web Element On Page Load?

Oct 13, 2011

I have small online shop and in the top section I have a mini cart, which a user can click on and expand an area to see what products they have added to their cart.
The problem I am having is that for a brief moment when the page initially loads the expandable area becomes visible until I the .ready (hide) function kicks in. Is there any way that I can actually hide the cart on page initialisation so its not visible even for a brief moment?

<script type="text/javascript">

Clean Way For Disabling Dhtml Functionality Until Page Is Fully Loaded ?

Jul 23, 2005

I am finishing up creating a fairly complex page that is very rich in
DHTML. In addition to updating it self every couple of seconds,
various components on it support sync and async communication with
various web services.

The problem is that if a user tries to click on any JS driven content
before the page is fully loaded, it will not work properly since it
relies on many onLoad scripts that initiate webservices etc.

is there a clean way, to simply disable any page functionality before
it loads ?

other than explicitly enabling every control in window.onload() event.

Hide DIV Box Upon Page Load?

I am currently using
onload="document.getElementById("hidepage").style.visibility="hidden";"
to try to hide a div box. Yet this will not work. I've tried FF, IEpp4 (IE platform preview 4) and IE9beta. This is the correct <div> id, and I do not know why this will not work.

Load Images After Loading A Page?

Feb 24, 2009

[URL]

I have an image gallery here on the top left. It works by the user clicking a thumbnail and displaying the larger thumbnail above it. Currently, all of the images are preloaded, including the large image above the thumbnails which takes up unnecessary loading time.

How can I make it so for example, AFTER the user clicks on a thumbnail, THEN the bigger thumbnail loads. NOT BEFORE the whole page loads.

Here's my javascript code: [URL]

On Page Load, If Cookie Set Then Hide Div?

Jun 15, 2009

I'm not very good with Javascript so I need you help for page on my website. Basically what I need to do is to make a DIV shown only first time someone visits page, and then when he/she revisit it I want that same DIV hidden, and I want it hidden for next 24 hours... so in that way DIV would be shown only once a day, and only on first page load.

So to make that happen I need to do fallowing, and I would need your help for that: I need a script that on a page load checks if cookie (which is 24h cookie) is set, if it is then it should hide that DIV, if it is not set then it should set it, so that DIV would be hidden on next page load..

Hide And Show Div On Page Load

Apr 2, 2006

I am trying to use javascript to hide a div before the page loads. Unfortunately for a brief second I can see the div on the page before the java script hide it. Is there anyway to set the javascript to hide the div before the page completely loads?

<script type="text/javascript" src="prototype.lite.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="moo.fx.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="moo.fx.pack.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var forgotpass = document.getElementsByClassName('forgotpass');
window.onload = function() {
forgotpass = new fx.Combo('forgotpass', {height: true, opacity: true, duration: 500});

// Hide Div
forgotpass.hide();

}
</script>

P.S. I'm using the hide function within the moo.fx.js file found @ http://moofx.mad4milk.net/. If there is an easier way to di by just write the javascript out in the onload function please let me know.

Page Load The Boxes Show And Then Slowly Hide?

Jun 23, 2011

I need to see if I can shorten this AND see if I can have a "show all option" added.The page is setup like so.. I have the following javascript working.. I'm running jquery... being a semi newbie it took a while to get this running.I have 4 DISTINCT queries that load up select boxes.There are 4 select boxes .. on change, the queries will see what option was selected and re-run DISTINCT SQL queries so all the select boxes only have related info.. so no one ends up with a "zero" results.I'm hiding these to help walk through in a logical order. However I need to1) Have a show all and let them select anything they wish and show all 4 boxes. How can I add a "show all" to the script below2) I noticed on page load the boxes show and then slowly hide. THis looks messy.. how can I alter that?3) This seems long for what I'm doing.. is there a way I can shorten this code? What if I expand to 8 boxes.. then I'll have 8 simple if statements.. but it seems unnecessary.CODE that is working is

$(document).ready(function () {
if ($("#pMaterial option").is(":selected"))
{

JQuery :: Using .load() To Load Up Images?

Nov 26, 2010

I tried creating a small widget that when a user clicks on one of the 4 buttons (links), instead of it taking the user to a new page it will load a specific div from another page is the div container above it.

HTML (excerpt):

<div imagePane></div>
<div buttonLinks>
<ul>
<li class="button1"><a>BUTTON 1</a></li>

[Code].....

The problem I'm having is that the content of the other page's div container loads, but that actual image that I set as the background does not.

I attempted to use .load() to serve up an image instead, $('#imagePane').load('path/to/graphic.jpg');but that didn't seem to work at all. Is there another function for this type of thing?

Ajax :: Loading Images - Big Images Don't Seem To Load Consistently?

Jul 26, 2009

I'm having difficulty loading images via Ajax on a site that I've been working on.I'm performing the ajax by using the Request.HTML object of the MooTools framework. Basically, I'm just passing some parameters to a php script which outputs some image tags and then I insert that HTML into a pre-defined content div. For some reason though, it seems that big images don't seem to load consistently when using this technique. Usually, they will just show up as broken images, but when I navigate to the url of the image that is 'broken', it displays just fine. Also, occasionally after navigating to the actual url of the image, my browser will cache the image and then it will display just fine when loading it through Ajax.

Which Method Will Make The Page Load Faster - Calling Code From A .js File 50 Times Slow Down Page Load?

May 12, 2011

I have a single webpage that contains information on all 50 U.S. states. There are 50 links at the top to jump down to the state you want, and at the bottom of the information for each state a Back to Top link.

I'm making the Back to Top link into something more complex, and it will require three or four lines of code.

So that I don't have to repeat the code 50 times, and create a burden when I need to edit it, I want to place it in a .js file and call it x. Then below the information for each state I'll simply have:

Does calling code from a .js file 50 times slow down the page load? Which method would load faster?

RTE Clean Up Pasted Text?

Feb 25, 2011

Lots on the web about this, but finding it difficult to piece everything together.I have a simple (jquery) RTE I've built using usual tools (IFRAME with execcommand functions).I want to be able to strip all html tags from anything copied and pasted into the iframe (specifically to remove the residual junk from MS word).I have this to capture the paste event (which works)

Code:
$('iframe#rte').contents().find("body").bind('paste', function() { alert('pasting!'); })

MY question is this: How do I target the pasted copy (only) and strip out the tags?I was previously doing this with PHP on submitting the page, but can't do that as I obviously want to keep the valid html tags added by the RTE itself - I changed the PHP to just remove <span> tags - but this is no good as some browsers write execcommand(bold) as <span class="bold">text</span>.

JQuery :: How To Hide Images In Table

Oct 23, 2011

This is a part of education test. I have a div, with images like this:
<div>
<img src="..." onmouseover="zoom(this);"><img src="..." onmouseover="zoom(this);"><img src="..." onmouseover="zoom(this);"><br>
<img src="..." onmouseover="zoom(this);"><img src="..." onmouseover="zoom(this);"><img src="..." onmouseover="zoom(this);"><br>
<img src="..." onmouseover="zoom(this);"><img src="..." onmouseover="zoom(this);"><img src="..." onmouseover="zoom(this);">
</div>

There can be more images in a "table" like 4x4 or 6x4.. When I move mouse cursor over one of images I would need to hide all previous images and all next images, relative to image that fired the event. This is my question how to do it. Next step is to zoom the image with .addClass("zoom") and on onmouseout to removeClass("zoom") (no problem with this). And last step is to make all images visible if mouse is out of images. I want to keep the DOM structure as it is, for compatibility with other JS code.

Clean Contents Of Table And Put Them Into Their Own Divs?
