where it says image i am adding an image, that colum is controlled by the header so i added a div in there for the image.
what is happening is that since the image is small and the slideshow is large, when the page loads the single image pops up for a second where the slide show is, then it moves down on the page where it should be. I know this is caused by the fact that the image loads faster than the slideshow so we see the image first in that space.
what i am trying to do is pause the single image load until the slideshow loads, but i dont know how?
I cant move the image down and load it in the body because that left side column is controlled by the header slideshow it has to be part of it when it loads.
has to be a way to make the slide show load on the page and then the image.
I have got this great script from the JS anthology Figure 15.13 - folder tree menu. Basically a user clicks on a section link and all the subpages are shown for that section. It is ideal for an interactive sitemap on the homepage.
However, the problem is that when the home page first loads all the links are shown and it takes about 20 seconds for the menu to close up so that only the links to section pages are shown.
Any ideas for how to make only the section pages appear immediately onload?
I've adapted code from theslideSwitch.js tutorialby Jon Raasch, which is basically a fading slideshow. The script promotes the 'active' slide to a higher z-index and animates the opacity for a fading effect. It's working fine with a pause added to stop the slideshow temporarily on mouseover. The issue I'm having is I'm trying to stop the script from queuing up when repeatedly mousing over/off the slideshow. When this happens it flickers and goes berserk. I've experimented withstop(true, true)in various locationsbut haven't got it working properly. Where to insert this in the following code?
Code is below... // slideshow function function slideSwitch() { var $active = $('#hp-featured div.active'); if ( $active.length == 0 ) $active = $('#hp-featured div:last'); var $next = $active.next().length ? $active.next() : $('#hp-featured div:first'); $active.addClass('last-active'); $next.css({opacity: 0.0}) .addClass('active') .animate({opacity: 1.0}, 1000, function() { $active.removeClass('active last-active'); });}; var playSlideshow = setInterval( "slideSwitch()", 5000 ); // pauses the slideshow on mouseover, then plays again on mouseout $(function() { $('#hp-featured div').hover(function() { clearInterval(playSlideshow); }, function() { playSlideshow = setInterval( "slideSwitch()", 5000 ); });});
I have some javascript code that does some GET and POST requests that are required. Sometimes it doesn't fully execute for the user because they close or click onto another page before the javascript is completely done. Is there anyway I can let all of the javascript load first and slow down the actual page load of the website.
I am at a loss for what to do next to get these slideshows functioning. You can see the current iteration here[url]...
I am using hte plug in galleria, and I have got it working in a stand alone version with the same images and and folder structure. The difference may be that I have the content nested in these div tags? to create tabs. i really don't know.
Here is the structure within the portfolio tab, under the Identity heading: ( there will be more images once I get this working [code]...
i am working on a facebook like photo viewer. I have used javascript to declare an array of about 200 images. I have the following approach to pre-load the images.I preload all the images when the page loads:
The problem is the page tries to load all the images when opened. And when the user clicks "next" to view other photos, the other photo is still loading where as some are already loaded.I would like the code to be able to load the photo that the user is currently viewing as the user gets to that picture, before the page tries to finish loading all the photos. In other words, if the user wants to view a particular photo directly, that photo should get the priority of loading quickly.
Is there a way to ensure that only the first image in my image slider shows while the page is loading? Currently all of the images appear stacked on the page until the page has finished loading.
I'm having probs with append(). When the page loads I add a function to certain images:
But after appending a now row, with a similar image, the onclick function on that row doesnt work, seems like it needs to be reinitialized or something.
I tried making a function of:
But when I call that function after appending, the new image is not clickable and the images that were already there, get an extra function on click.
I have a slow loading external JavaScript that displays a calendar widget. When I put it in my sidebar, while the page loads, it cuts off where the calendar should be until the JavaScript for it finishes.
How can I make the script load after the page finishes loading? I tried creating a function at the end of the HTML and calling the function in the sidebar, but I think because the function was being called before the script was executed, it didn't work.
I'm trying this Cycle Plugin, but whenever I load, lets say I have 5 images in the rotation pool, they all show up (briefly) whenever the page reloads, and then they dissapear (starting the rotation). Is there any way to avoid this? The images I'm using are 960 x 220, so it pretty much fills the screen before it hides.
I have an ajax based page, which loads content from external page (html +js) So if i have a div "update_div" being updated with external content (html+js)
Let me be more specifig
Step1: Ajax content along with js loaded into update_div from a.html
Step2: Ajax content along with js loaded into update_div from b.html
What happens to the js loaded from a.html? Is it lurking in the memory or automatically/magically removed from the browser memory? I am afraid of memory leaks, if the js is still lurking in memory, the more ajax calls made, the more js is going to be held up in memory. Unless am totally wrong; i have no idea of the mechanism happening.
It seems like when I load javascript code into a page, that each item I add, such as an accordian vertical navbar, image slider, etc, that each time I add one, the page loads a second or so slower with each one added. I would like some of these features, but is this just a part of life, or are there tricks to avoid the slower load time? It is not major time but after the 2 items I mentioned, it added on about 2 seconds.
I read that $(document).ready(function() might slow me down but I do not see that statement in any of my .js files.
I am implementing a fairly large Javascript file that has many if/than's that decide whether to load new content into div's. I have noticed this is causing high client side CPU utilization. Is there any better way to do this besides having the example script below repeated many times... i need to keep CPU usage down.
Code: <script> $(document).ready(function() { //ajaxTime.php is called every second to get time from server
I have to do a slideshow with images of different widths... am using cycle plugin, which I like very much... I have a little test slideshow here, http:[url]....it's not centering imgs in containing div (I made div width of widest image.. this will work for my situation, in which imgs will be hard-coded..)if you inspect img element in firebug (#slideshow img), it shows that the plugin adds a style of position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px .to the img; why does the plugin do this.. how can I center the images in containing div...
I'm in need of a solution perhaps with javascript to pre cache my web page content. Which is basically 8 swf files. I need these to load into the browser prior to the page being served. I understand that the best solution would be with preloders within the swf files themselves but I've been through this already with flash developers and this has not assisted. I tested with an html code that reloads the page and that did the trick, but the problem was that the code went into an infinite loop reloading the page every time and I need a solution that reloads the page just ones, and I mean just reload and not refresh because I'm not looking for fresh content but the old content is what I need to stay in the cache.
I´ve just launch my website-portfolio, well it´s not yet the final version but it is almost and despite I am satisfied with the final result I´ve detected a really strange bug that only happens sometimes. The thing is when the first introduction Slide appears (the one with the hand-made drawings), sometimes the images shrink from the normal size to small tiny images. This doesn´t happen always and if you refresh the page it disappears.
Follow the link to the page were the bug happens - [url]. I'm using jquery cycle plugin, check it out.
I have an image gallery here on the top left. It works by the user clicking a thumbnail and displaying the larger thumbnail above it. Currently, all of the images are preloaded, including the large image above the thumbnails which takes up unnecessary loading time.
How can I make it so for example, AFTER the user clicks on a thumbnail, THEN the bigger thumbnail loads. NOT BEFORE the whole page loads.
I am using a nice little jquery image slider. Mostly working well - but when any of the pages load -all of the images in the viewer briefly flash down the page on page load. this won't work. Here is a link to the issue:[URL]... Is this an image preloading issue? I have a preloader script in there - but not sure if it is working as it should.
I'm using JQuery Cycle for the first time and am needing to rotate 4 images ina bannercontainer div.The page in question is Here. identify required changes to ensure that this works correctly?
