Load Certain Images Before Website Loads?
Oct 3, 2011
However my website now has over 200 images on the website and now its taking way too long to load the images.
My question's are:
1. Is it possible to either load the site when its around 20% or even 50% loaded?
OR
2. If its possible to give certain images a tag?? and when these images are loaded then the site loads? :confused:
Heres a link to the site - must warn you need broadband and a high speed connection takes way to long to load. code...

I have some javascript code that does some GET and POST requests that are required. Sometimes it doesn't fully execute for the user because they close or click onto another page before the javascript is completely done. Is there anyway I can let all of the javascript load first and slow down the actual page load of the website.

I have been working with this code:
Code Java:
function heroSliders() {
var $active = $('#slideshow img.active');
if ( $active.length == 0 ) $active = $('#slideshow img:last');[code]....
When the page loads all the images kind of load very quickly causing a flicker, and then the slideshow begins.

I'm trying to add java script to my website so it loads my background image. I followed a tutorial from here, http://thecodecentral.com/2008/02/21...t-image-loader and so I copy and pasted this code into note pad:var loader = new ImageLoader('http://www.website.com/htdocs/image.jpg');
loader.loadEvent = function(url, image){
//actions to perform when the image is loaded
//alert(url + ' is loaded');

I'm trying to add java script to my website so it loads my background image. I followed a tutorial from here, [url] and so I copy and pasted this code into note pad:
And saved the file as imageloader.js. I didn't put the actual website or image in this post because I don't want it to get referenced when searching my website in google. When I open the page, there is no loader, the image takes a couple seconds to load when you first go to my page like usual. Am I doing something wrong? did I call the file a wrong name? should I reference imageloader.js in the html code of the webpage?

i am working on a facebook like photo viewer. I have used javascript to declare an array of about 200 images. I have the following approach to pre-load the images.I preload all the images when the page loads:
HTML: <body onload = "lodpic()">
JAVASCRIPT:
function lodpic()
{
for(i=0; i<=199; i++) {[code]....
The problem is the page tries to load all the images when opened. And when the user clicks "next" to view other photos, the other photo is still loading where as some are already loaded.I would like the code to be able to load the photo that the user is currently viewing as the user gets to that picture, before the page tries to finish loading all the photos.In other words, if the user wants to view a particular photo directly, that photo should get the priority of loading quickly.

Anyway, I'm stuck. Do I need to add a div within the body? Or is there something else I need to do.

I'm having probs with append(). When the page loads I add a function to certain images:
But after appending a now row, with a similar image, the onclick function on that row doesnt work, seems like it needs to be reinitialized or something.
I tried making a function of:
But when I call that function after appending, the new image is not clickable and the images that were already there, get an extra function on click.

I have a slow loading external JavaScript that displays a calendar widget. When I put it in my sidebar, while the page loads, it cuts off where the calendar should be until the JavaScript for it finishes.
How can I make the script load after the page finishes loading? I tried creating a function at the end of the HTML and calling the function in the sidebar, but I think because the function was being called before the script was executed, it didn't work.

i have a photo slideshow that loads in the header so when the page is loaded the slide show is there on the left.
it looks like this (page layout)
header
--------------------> slideshow
content
---------------------> image
footer
-----------------------
where it says image i am adding an image, that colum is controlled by the header so i added a div in there for the image.
what is happening is that since the image is small and the slideshow is large, when the page loads the single image pops up for a second where the slide show is, then it moves down on the page where it should be. I know this is caused by the fact that the image loads faster than the slideshow so we see the image first in that space.
what i am trying to do is pause the single image load until the slideshow loads,
but i dont know how?
I cant move the image down and load it in the body because that left side column is controlled by the header slideshow it has to be part of it when it loads.
has to be a way to make the slide show load on the page and then the image.
here is the setup on the header..
<table border="0" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%">
<tr><td height="10px">
</td></tr>
<tr><td valign="top">

how to do a custom lazy load ???You know for instance... lets say I got 500,000 images to load on a page... it's inside a dive... well I want to load the images when it's needed.So not all 500,000 images will load all at once. I want like 10 to load at a time.. this will make the div scrollable.so when the user scrolls down to the 8th image it will load 10 more images and so on.
how to make their own function like this?how do you detect if the user scrolled to the 8th image? I am pretty sure I can use a function.... that will send variables to a php script that will use the mysql limit. The javascript would send a value which is where to start loading from the 10th image in the database.. meaning start grabbing the images from the 11th image onward for a max of 10 total images to display.

I'm trying this Cycle Plugin, but whenever I load, lets say I have 5 images in the rotation pool, they all show up (briefly) whenever the page reloads, and then they dissapear (starting the rotation). Is there any way to avoid this? The images I'm using are 960 x 220, so it pretty much fills the screen before it hides.

I'm having difficulty loading images via Ajax on a site that I've been working on.I'm performing the ajax by using the Request.HTML object of the MooTools framework. Basically, I'm just passing some parameters to a php script which outputs some image tags and then I insert that HTML into a pre-defined content div. For some reason though, it seems that big images don't seem to load consistently when using this technique. Usually, they will just show up as broken images, but when I navigate to the url of the image that is 'broken', it displays just fine. Also, occasionally after navigating to the actual url of the image, my browser will cache the image and then it will display just fine when loading it through Ajax.

I have an ajax based page, which loads content from external page (html +js) So if i have a div "update_div" being updated with external content (html+js)
Let me be more specifig
Step1: Ajax content along with js loaded into update_div from a.html
Step2: Ajax content along with js loaded into update_div from b.html
What happens to the js loaded from a.html? Is it lurking in the memory or automatically/magically removed from the browser memory? I am afraid of memory leaks, if the js is still lurking in memory, the more ajax calls made, the more js is going to be held up in memory. Unless am totally wrong; i have no idea of the mechanism happening.
