Show - Hide Form Fields Based On Checkbox State

Mar 4, 2010

I'm trying to get the two followup questions underneath the checkbox to show up only if someone places a check there, but for some reason the way I've got it set up now it's simply hiding the area I want to show up altogether, and the checkbox has no effect on it.

Rather than waste tons of space pasting it here, here's the pastebin: [url]

Alternatively here is the live version:[url]

I'd prefer to have the form collapse when the additional questions are hidden, though if i can get this working at all.

JQuery :: Show / Hide Images Based On Checkbox State?

Apr 13, 2010

What you can see is that I have a bunch of images which form a chart, each of the images has multiple classes.I want to write a function which when called fades in/out images dependant on whether all related checkboxes are checked or not.Checkboxes are related to the images by id on the checkbox and class on the image, as I'm sure you can see. I will be calling this method each time a checkbox is checked.

Show - Hide Div Based On Checkbox ?

Aug 21, 2011

I know from scouring the Web that this is a very common Javascript question, but I have a twist on the question which is giving me headaches, and I hope some of the brilliant minds here at DaniWeb can help show me the error of my ways.

Say a user has checked a checkbox when submitting a form. I have a PHP script that records that check in a MySQL record. Later when they visit the page, the PHP script shows the checkbox as being checked. That's all working fine.

Now here's what I'm TRYING to do: Since the checkbox is checked when the page loads, I want a certain div to show up. And when the user UNchecks the checkbox, I want the div to go away. Simple, right?

Here's the Javascript I've placed in the header:

In the CSS, I've styled a div thusly:

And here's what I'm doing in the <body>:

This should show up when you click Yellow Box. And it should go away when you click it again. </div>

When I uncheck the checkbox (first click), nothing happens: the div still shows up.

Then when I re-check the checkbox (second click), the div goes away.

And then when I un-check the checkbox again (third click), the div comes back.

In other words, it's doing the OPPOSITE of what I want.

It seems that when I click the checkbox the first time (to uncheck it), the Javascript pulls an empty value. Only with the second click is it finding a value ('none').

I have a form with a shipping address area and a billing address area. Right now I have a checkbox that fills in the billing address information if its the same as shipping information. Instead of having that so the form isnt so long when people first look at it I would like for the billing address fields to be hidden when you first come onto the page, and only if the address's are different the person will click the check box and the billing address section will appear. I know this has to be done in javascript but I have never done it

Show And Hide Form Fields?

Mar 23, 2011

I have a drop down selection where it shows and hides form inputs depending on selection. When the page loads it shows the drop down selections with no form inputs. After user selects drop down it shows the form fields. It works great but I want it to show the same form fields after the user hits the submit button which submits the page to itself. It currenlty goes back to the default selection list and doesnt show any of the form fields. Basically it hides all the form fields after the user hits submit button. How do I make it keep the last shown form fields after the user hits the submit button?

<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

JQuery :: Change Field Value With Ajax Call Based On Checkbox State?

Mar 31, 2010

I've created a registration form with sponsorship options hooked to checkboxes. My original form used ASP to keep values in hidden fields to use for totaling everything at checkout time.

Now I'd like to use PHP and Ajax to place the value into the text field related for each option checked.

I'm able to do that making an Ajax call. My problem that I need help with is this: If the visitor decides to uncheck a sponsorship option, the value placed in the associated field remains on the form. How do I replace that value with a null or empty string if they decide to uncheck their original choice?

I've tried JavaScript to no avail so far, both in the client side and server side code. I'm very new at this and I need help. Will jQuery work without having to change a bunch of code?

i.e. if Choice 2 is selected I'd like to display a new <tr> with the
following:

<tr>
<td>New text field:</td>
<td><input name="newField" type="text size="20"></td>

if any other choices are made, I don't want to display anything.
I've tried several onchange() functions but can't achieve what I'm
looking for.

JQuery :: Show/hide Form Elements Based On Radio Button Selections ?

Mar 17, 2011

I have a set of radio buttons on my pricing page:

And a corresponding text_field input element div I'd like to display based on which radio button the user selects:

When the page loads, I'd like to see:

When the user clicks on a (different) radio button, or clicks one for the first time, I'd like whichever div is currently showing to be hidden, and the newly selected one to be shown.

Right now I have jQuery code at the bottom of my page that looks like this:

For each of the four options.

When the page loads, the correct div is shown, and when I select a new button, the new div is shown, but the already showing one isn't hidden.

I've read some posts that suggest using change() instead of click(), but others indicate that's problematic in IE.

Hide Fields When Checkbox Clicked

May 24, 2010

I have put the following code into a sharepoint aspx page. So that when I change the value in a drop down box it runs a function (in this case it displays "Works").

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function getField(fieldType,fieldTitle) {
var docTags = document.getElementsByTagName(fieldType);
for (var i=0; i < docTags.length; i++) {
if (docTags[i].title == fieldTitle) {
return docTags[i]
}}}

function TestFunctionName() {
alert("Works");
}
getField('Select','DropDownBoxName').onchange = function() {TestFunctionName()};
</script>

What I'd like to be able to do as well is when a check box is changed or clicked on the same thing happens. I dont seem to be able to achieve it though. I've change the line...
getField('Select','DropDownBoxName').onchange = function() {TestFunctionName()};
to...
getField('Input','CheckBoxName').onchange = function() {TestFunctionName()};
and
getField('Input','CheckBoxName').onclick = function() {TestFunctionName()};

Toggle State - Trigger Open State From Id Based URL?

To say I'm new to JavaScript is a bit of an understatement so bear with me. I have a site set up with a variety of layers of toggles. When you enter the site all of the items are collapsed and you click the headings to expand. Each of the toggle-able items have ids. It works great for users who start at the homepage.

However, when I send people to any of the inner topics, all they see is the initial collapsed state of the site. I want to be able to provide a URL that will set the toggle to open, and show all of the content for that section on entry.

Here is my code and js, can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have a script I am trying to use to show or hide a div id. It uses a cookie, set on link click, to remember if the div should be displayed or not.

It works, but I'm having two problems:

1) The function only shows/hides the first instance of the div, not all instances.

2) Reloading the page after an initial cookie set causes the div to always initially be displayed regardless of the last cookie value (cookie seems to automatically re-set itself to 'tutor-show').

Here is the code:

Cookie Based Hide Show Div Tag ?

Oct 17, 2011

I'm basically looking for script that uses hide show functionality. with the addition of save state ability based on a cookie that remembers what item the user last expanded for his/her previous visit.

In other words lets say a user expands a link that has a list of information.

Then the user leaves the page and comes back to the same page. It would be ideal if that page remembers(via cookie) what the user last expanded.

Does ANYONE... know where or can perhaps paste some sample code?

Hide / Show Various DIV Based On Function

Aug 6, 2009

I have a script to show and hide various divs based on a function & var. The problem I am having is that when ANY of the variables ('hate', 'ok' and 'love') are passed all 3 different feedback forms ('FeedbackHate', 'FeedbackOk' and 'FeedbackLove') appear, not just the one I want.

Here is the JS:
function sitesurveyswitch(emotion) {
var e = emotion;
document.getElementById('site_survey_hate').style.backgroundPosition = '0px 0px';
document.getElementById('site_survey_ok').style.backgroundPosition = '0px 0px';
document.getElementById('site_survey_love').style.backgroundPosition = '0px 0px';
document.getElementById('FeedbackHate').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('FeedbackOk').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('FeedbackLove').style.display = 'none';
if (e == 'hate')
document.getElementById('site_survey_hate').style.backgroundPosition = '-80px 0px';
document.getElementById('FeedbackHate').style.display = 'block';
if (e == 'ok')
document.getElementById('site_survey_ok').style.backgroundPosition = '-80px 0px';
document.getElementById('FeedbackOk').style.display = 'block';
if (e == 'love')
document.getElementById('site_survey_love').style.backgroundPosition = '-80px 0px';
document.getElementById('FeedbackLove').style.display = 'block';
}

And here is the code related to this function:
<div id="siteSurveyBox">

<span id="site_survey_ok" onclick="sitesurveyswitch('ok');return false;"></span>
