I am trying to show a field based on another field's value and hide it it initially... like when you want students to select their schools if they have gone for education ortherwise the school field remains inactive...I have the folowing scipt but it is not being fired on page load...

Im using a jQuery script to show/hide a div based based on the selection made via a dropdown.

The problem im having is that the value used in the dropdown lists are price values eg 10.00
Consequently jQuery seems to interprit these as css notations, meaning the code doesnt work.
I want to know that "how to show hidden fields when a user selects a particular option in the html form"
I want the fields to be hidden first,then when the users selects:
Option A- Particulars fields which have I will create for this option must be displayed.
If
Option B-Particular field which I will create for this option must be displayed.
I want this code to run as soon as the user selects a option.Not on a button click
I'm trying to get the two followup questions underneath the checkbox to show up only if someone places a check there, but for some reason the way I've got it set up now it's simply hiding the area I want to show up altogether, and the checkbox has no effect on it.

what I would like to do is concatenate two fields and assign the results to a 3rd field.

I have created a user form in which visitors can fill in sections, some of which are hidden or displayed using the onclick to trigger a DIV to display or hide then submit the results to a database using ASP. All works fine with that, however... I have created another page which retrieves the results for an individual's form submission, and I want to hide the sections that were not completed (hidden when submitted). How can I get my page to hide or show DIVs, depending on the value retrieved from a particular field within the database? i.e. if Question1Response="A", show Div ID="A Section" If Question1Response="B", show Div ID="B Section" etc.

I have designed an online registration system for a non profit in ASP/SQL. After the members register for classes they are automatically redirected to an invoice page with class fees. At the bottom of the page I have a Total Fees field of all the classes. The member is supposed to pay this amount to our organization.
Question: We decided to do an online payment this year and would like to calculate a 2% additional amount on the Total Fees. This amount is paid to the Payment Merchant site. We cannot afford to lose the 2% since we are a non profit.
1) Add a new field under the Total field
2) And calculate the 2% additional fees and do a Grand Total.
I have two drop down fields. When I select any value in the first drop down i want the second dropdown to automatically populate the value related to the first one. For e.g i have the first field as name and the second field as measured in. If I select 'Potato' in the first dropdown then the second drop down should populate 'kg'.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an HTML form which contains two date fields to accept airport taxi bookings, sometimes clients book one way, sometimes they book return journeys, some cases even involve 3 or more journeys.
Now there is a field for the date of each journey all contained within one HTML form:
date0, date1, date2 etc... depending on how many legs there are to their journey.
What I'd like to do is set an initial value for all date fields based on the value the user enters into the first.
So if the user enters: 24/04/2009 into [date0] field then [date1] should be automatically set to be 7 days later and [date2] 7 days after [date1] etc.
The user must be able to overwrite the initial values, without affecting the previous dates.

On a registration form I have 4 fields that are all dropdown select fields. NAME, CLASS-1, CLASS-2, CODE
1) I would like to activate the CLASS-1, CLASS-2, CODE fields only if the NAME IS Selected from the dropdown.
2) Also would like to make the CLASS-1, CLASS-2 as required fields if the NAME is selected from the dropdown.
How can I achieve this? Can I use some kind of a server event to activate / deactivate the fields on the form?
I have a registration form that I am working on in which I need to assign a price to each option in a selection box then write that price in the document.Then I have a radio button that will add (different amounts based on selection) to that price before it is written. Then I have another radio button that just needs to write a price based on its selection. Both of these values will be written and then totaled. (See below for a less confusing explanation)

I need to be able to change the fields of a form based on a drop-down list. Like if someone picks option A field 1 shows and if they change it to option B field 1 and 2 show up without reloading the page.

What is a good starting point for this, and would it be possible to send out the order as an email with the total price sent to the business owner.

Currently, I have a php form with various inputs, and a div where I am embedding an (initially) empty open flash chart object.Right now, I am calling a php file on the submit of the form, which takes the form data, calls a python script to process the form data, and then creates an open flash chart object using the data the python script returns.There are a few problems with this:
1. When the submit on the form is called, it goes to a different page where the chart is displayed, when I would really just like to update the contents of the chart div where I initially embedded the empty chart.
2. The processing of the form in the python code can take some time, so what I would really like is to have the chart "check" the output of the python script periodically and update the chart each time, adding the new data points to the old ones.
I know I can do all of these things with javascript and Ajax, I just can't seem to find any tutorials or examples that are exactly what I am looking for.
I've got a form that automatically fills in fields based of an employee name. What happens is, the admin start to type the Emps name, a autocomplete shows up, and once the select the employees name, the form is filled in with their DB data. Now in FF, this works perfectly, but in IE6 and IE7, it acts differently. When i use the split command in JS, FF interprets 'null' vars but it seems IE does not. So if a field is null, IE will populate that field with the next available data.

I've hacked together a calculator, it features one row to begin with that accepts user inputs to specify height (from dropdown), width, depth, qty (text fields).It then performs a calculation (width+depth) * multiplier +12
The multiplier is defined by an IF based on the selected height.I want to add 10 or more rows which are identical, and then get a grand total for all the rows' totals added together.Where I am stuck is how to change the drawerPrice function to handle extra rows.I basically know nothing about js, this is a result of day 1.

I have a form that collects information about up to 5 items. I would
like the user to be able to select from a drop down menu how many items
for which they want to compare information, and then have the form
change the number of input fields accordingly.
In other words, if the user selects enter info for 3 items, then input
fields for only 3 items are shown, if they change it to 4 items, then a
fourth column shows up in the table with the appropriate input fields.
I am building a Point of Sale system and I have a web form where the clerk enters the items being purchased... The product and the quantity. Then they click a button and an AJAX request adds the item to the sale in the database and fetches the price - the price is filled in, the total updated, and a new row is added to the form so they can enter the next item.
What I'd like is to that automatically when they tab out of the last field in the row to save time by not using the mouse... (tab and enter is a lot for some of my users)
What's the best way to do this? leave the buttons and have them activate on focus? an on blur on the last field?

I'm using PHP to update a database and the page just refreshes when it's done. I'd like to set the URL to something like [URL]
So if the URL had ud=y in it, it would show a div with a specific ID.
