I am trying to pre-populate form selections by evaluating a string. I will import a dynamic string later, but wanted to focus on the search function. If the value has a match in the string then write "selected" in the input tag to select it for the viewer. What am I doing wrong?

I would like to have a main form (written in PHP) that has a "lookup" button next to a text field. When the user clicks "lookup", it should open a new window that lets them search (child.page1). When they enter a name or DOB into the search form, it submits the form through PHP (via POST), to a results page (child.page2). This displays all persons in the database which have a name or DOB == to the search term(s), with a checkbox next to each match. They click the checkbox (or alternenatively, a link), and return the checkbox value to the main window.
I have everything working right now, except that (child.page2) doesn't recognize the main window. If the data is entered on (child.page1), it works fine. I'm not very familiar with javascript.. is this even possible? I've considered using frames, to keep the parent-child relationship evident to the computer, but figured I'd check to see if there's an easier way.
I work for a very large company that has zero communications between IT and the employees...so there is very little possibility of having any code changed.I need to use a web based system that submits orders for my department. The problem is i must order by "task number". I could have 20-30 task numbers so to complete the order I need to go to my company's page and fill out 15 form fields and submit for each task code. It is a terrible pain. 14 of the 15 fields are the same for each order... only the task code changes.

It consists of 5 drop down menus and each value in the drop down needs to have an image, a price, and a rule attached to it. The image sits above the drop down and changes with the selection, the price adds to the option prices selected in the other drop downs and give a total, and the rule affects what options are available in subsequent drop downs. I've got all of these working separately but can't get a single value to have all 3 functions.

I would like to be able to pass a multi-dimensional Javascript array through a form to a server-side script I am running. Any suggestions as to how to do this? I know how to asign a Javascript variable to a hidden field (basic stuff ), and if it was a single-dimension array I would join() it, but I don't know how to treat a multi-dimensional array. Any suggestions?

This sounds like a standard form, but this is a little different. I have files in megabyte sizes, from which people would choose what they wanted, and the total deciding how many dvds would be needed to store that many files...and this total could then be added to a js shopping cart. By the way, there is nothing illegal or pirated with the files in case you have any concerns.

I have written a 'predictive text' widget using JavaScript/AJAX. When user enters a string of letters into form, the list of possible matches is displayed under the form. This works well and good, now I am trying to make it so that when the user clicks on a certain word, the form input filed is populated with that word. I have tried like this:

The xml is valid and I can autocomplete on the names and it fills out the form on the screen with the names of the contact. What I need to do is add the value"" of the input so that it will go into my mysql table when I submit the form.

This form collects info of the customer who wishes to select add-ons that would be applied to their digital photos. Examples of add-ons:
Photo makeover
Add object or person
Crop image

Once a customer selects one of the options (Photo Manipulation or Photo Restoration for example - radio buttons) and then one or more Add-ons (check boxes in the Html form), enter their details and upload a photo, they hit the submit button and it then takes them to the PayPal checkout page where the total amount is shown. (see image below)

The Issue:
In the PayPal page, it now shows the total amount whichever add-ons you select, however it keeps showing "Add object or person" as well as all the 5 main options (radio buttons on the form) no matter what I select. This will be an issue as I will not know exactly which add-ons the customer has selected.

In order to send the options/add-ons the customer selects I may need to use the onX and osX variables (Where X is a number starting with 0 and incrementing by 1 see below), These can be used to set options for the add-onsthey select. The onO is the "option name" and os0 is the "option choice". So for example:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a form where a user may select a box from above which will query the database and autofill in the fields. This works properly for all of my input text fields but I have a select box where a user selects their state that I am unable to get to properly populate.
The select box is populated on page load in the following format....

Everything populates correctly except where I try to set the val on the state select field. It does not change at all. I need it to display the statename with the value of the state (number).
Have a WAMP setup with Apache, PHP and Mysql service and I�m working on a HTML form which will have two drop-down controls where information is extracted from two tables in my DB.The first drop-down list called (name="sel_ControlArea") will decide what information the second drop-down list will have.So far I have managed to populate them when the page is loaded using PHP but run into problem when I make a change on the first drop-down list.Question one: What is the best/correct way to solve this problem?Is it to load all information into PHP arrays and then translate these to Javascript arrays, or should I go for AJAX, or XML or are there any other better ways ?I have tried to solve this using the first method, put data in a PHP array but run into problem with this data not properly loaded.This is first time for me to pose a question so please let me know if I have left out some important information or if I should describe this problem in a different way.

I have a page that runs a lot of calculations.The math is computed on the fly using java scriptwhen all the calcs are in, prior to form submission the user needs to evaluate which numbers they prefer, and from there, once they select them, the form, based on those choices, will perform one last calclets say we have 3 result fields

For example, if the field is for a customer code - the user can either type in the customer code directly, or use the popup to search on available customer codes using various criteria and finally select the customer code he or she wants to use, and have that customer code populate back into the original input field.
I have been looking around the various components in jquery but can't quite see how to do this.
I'd like some direction on creating a small piece of Javascript that will populate my <select> boxes. Basically, I have a form for users to create events, with a start time and an end time. (These are the two select boxes). For example:
