Populate A Form's Field (via Hyperlink) Without Access To The Form's Code?
Mar 3, 2011
I work for a very large company that has zero communications between IT and the employees...so there is very little possibility of having any code changed.I need to use a web based system that submits orders for my department. The problem is i must order by "task number". I could have 20-30 task numbers so to complete the order I need to go to my company's page and fill out 15 form fields and submit for each task code. It is a terrible pain. 14 of the 15 fields are the same for each order... only the task code changes.
I know not one word of Javascript and wondered if there was an easy way to pre-populate a form field in a similar manner to populating an eMail 'subject' field? -
The following populates the subject field in an eMail: a href="mailto:me@anwhere.com?subject=USER ID 12345
How can I populate the first field of a form (or can I?) with the same information - i.e. the USER ID located on the HTML page calling the form?
The xml is valid and I can autocomplete on the names and it fills out the form on the screen with the names of the contact. What I need to do is add the value"" of the input so that it will go into my mysql table when I submit the form.
I have a form where a user may select a box from above which will query the database and autofill in the fields. This works properly for all of my input text fields but I have a select box where a user selects their state that I am unable to get to properly populate.
The select box is populated on page load in the following format....
Everything populates correctly except where I try to set the val on the state select field. It does not change at all. I need it to display the statename with the value of the state (number).
Is there some example js that shows how to populate a text field on a form, based upon what option is chosen in a select form field? The options can be hardcoded and it would be great to also have a default if js is off on the client side.code...
I would like to set up an image gallery so that when customer clicks on their chosen image, the image caption populates into the associated field in the form below the gallery, on the same page.
I am not really a coder, I only know this and that
Tried searching but didn't seem to find a solid solution to my problem I'm trying to pass a value to an input form field, from a function. Here is my code
PHP Code: <script> function createDiv(sceneNum, startTime, endTime, dialog, notes)
I have a web form with several fields. If I copy & paste from a RTF document into a field, the javascript validation and field length are bypassed and cause the form to fail.
sample code, whereby if I change a field value in a web form (from a drop-down list for example), the value shown in another field is automatically updated to show the needed value for that selected option?
I've put together what I think is an illustration of my problem at [URL] Quite simply, I need to be able to access the elements of the form without referring to them by ID as the whole form is intended to be cloned. I intended to do this using parentNode and childNodes[] together with the 'this' keyword. My understanding of 'this' in this context is that it should refer to the HTML element calling the function, i.e. one of the radio button inputs. However this gives the error "Error: this.parentNode is undefined"
I'm getting an incredible behaviour of internet explorer. I have a generated html page with one form and many input of checkbox type.
Those checkbox are grouped in 4 lists and each list of checkbox contain checkboxs with the same name so I can easily retrieve on my server side (java) wich checkbox are checked with a request.getParameterValues(). (Each checkbox has a value corresponding to the id of the row) Anyway that's not on the server that the problem is.
Here it comes. When more than 132 checkboxes are checked, my form submit generate a javascript error. When 132 or less checkboxes are checked it submit without problem.
I tested the page with firefox, the problem is not here with that browser and it can submit liek for example 400 checkboxes.
Then I tried to make a workaround, on submiting I browse the elements list of my document and I create a big string containing all the ids checked and then I uncheck all checkboxes and submit. there again it fail to work.
I'm really affraid I'm looking at a nasty bug of Internet explorer here and I'm going to engineer a more deep workaround if noone can point out a solution to me.
I should precise that I have no iframes on that page. I indeed saw that some people got 'access is denied' on submit form but in my case it works when not too much data is going to be submited !
i think this will help people a lot, cuz i couldn't find any simple answer by googling 3 hours...i need a very very simple jquery form field reset.here is the picture what i need:
HTML Code: <script type='text/javascript' src='http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.6.4.min.js'></script> <script>
Just wondering if anyone knows how to use javascript to submit a form when a hyperlink is clicked, or if anyone knows where i can find a script that does this? i need to do this so i can pass hidden fields when client changes pages ...
I have a fairly simple question regarding a simple form i am creating.
In the form, there is to be one "input", which is a "download" link.
When the user clicks that link, it prompts a "Save Picture" dialog box, where the user can download the image to their computer.
What I want to do is create some sort of form validation, where in the "Save Picture" dialog box, if the user selects save and saves it to his/her computer, he/she is brought to a thank you page. If he/she clicks "cancel" nothing happen and the page should return false back to its orginal state. Code:
I've have a function to take the value entered in a form text box, add 50 to it and put the result in another text box.
When I enter 650.5 I get 700.5 exactly how I'd expect. But when I enter -650.5 instead of getting -600.5 I get -650.050 as though it is failing to parse the float due to it being negative. My understanding of parseFloat was that it recognises negative numbers. Is there a nice simple way to get this to work?
I need to pass user input from a form to one database field. I'm relatively new to JS but the idea I had was to have several form elements and use JS to collect the users input and send all the values through a hidden element. What's happening is the variable names are being sent rather than the values. The code below is only passing to the next page. Limitations: I am editing an intranet site built by a 3rd party so a lot of the files we've been given are encrypted. I cannot change the method to post.
I've set up a mock registration form page so I can learn a bit about javascript's form validation. (newbie) I want to try to attempt to style the border of a form field green when the user enters the correct info into the form text field and red on all other fields if the user doesnt enter any info into them. When i test it, enter the right info into the username field, leave the others blank, and hit the submit button it styles the username field green ok but it doesnt make the next fields (password and so on) red. just for testing purposes I've put return false on everything so it displays a message when everythings ok.[code]
I am having a problem with the following script. It sometimes works and sometimes does not. For instance, I placed the HTML code on my desktop and saved the text as .htm-
Open the file in IE and click to accept blocked content. Then I entered a number. Sometimes it works and goes to the document.location url.. but sometimes it just goes to code...
Am creating a framed chat application and when the user types a message in the form field and clicks the submit button, the message gets sent to the display frame, but the message stays in the form field. How can i get the form to submit the message AND reset the form field to blank too?
i am trying to fire a form which after the call to retrieve the data, populate the form with the data. i can see from firebug that the json data is being captured, but cannot seem to be able to populate the form with it. i am using a jquery plugin facybox, that opens the form, but the fields are blank. i have attached my code and would be grateful if someone could tell me where i am going wrong?
I have written a 'predictive text' widget using JavaScript/AJAX. When user enters a string of letters into form, the list of possible matches is displayed under the form. This works well and good, now I am trying to make it so that when the user clicks on a certain word, the form input filed is populated with that word. I have tried like this:
I have created my second Form to File Web Form but basically I took my First Web Form coding (with the Java Script) and manipulated it so that it suited my needs for my 2nd Form (both are very close to being the same). For some reason, I can't get my Java Script validation to take effect. I was wondering if some one could try to pin point why it isn't functioning properly? Again it could be the most obvious thing, but please bear with me as I learn.Just for a little more clarity, I am going to list the things that I have changed to possibly make it easier to pin point:[code]
This form collects info of the customer who wishes to select add-ons that would be applied to their digital photos. Examples of add-ons:
Photo makeover Add object or person Crop image
Have a look at the form [URL]
Once a customer selects one of the options (Photo Manipulation or Photo Restoration for example - radio buttons) and then one or more Add-ons (check boxes in the Html form), enter their details and upload a photo, they hit the submit button and it then takes them to the PayPal checkout page where the total amount is shown. (see image below)
[URL]
The Issue:
In the PayPal page, it now shows the total amount whichever add-ons you select, however it keeps showing "Add object or person" as well as all the 5 main options (radio buttons on the form) no matter what I select. This will be an issue as I will not know exactly which add-ons the customer has selected.
complete the coding so that the add-ons show on the PayPal checkout page.
In order to send the options/add-ons the customer selects I may need to use the onX and osX variables (Where X is a number starting with 0 and incrementing by 1 see below), These can be used to set options for the add-onsthey select. The onO is the "option name" and os0 is the "option choice". So for example:
