Oct 8, 2009
Say I have a website, that I want to use an iframe with. Would be possible, to use Javascript to change the logo image of an iframe of myspace (just for the example), to one on my site? So switch the logo of myspace with one on my server? Is this possible?

I'm try to set up a webpge that will play a live flash video on the left-hand side(got that part working) and display one slide of a presentation(jpg) to the right of the video. I would like to be able to control when the slide image changes by having some js check a text file on my server. The text file could contain something as simple as "Slide1.jpg". I will manipulate the text file with some code I've already written. Is there some simple js code I can put in my page that will cause it to check the text file every 5 seconds, and if the content of the file has changed, to refresh the image on the page with the new image? I'm try to get away from the "clicking" sound that is caused by doing a simple refresh of an Iframe.

I am working on a client's site and he has some external javascript code that his affiliates can put on their websites to fetch some data. However, when my client's site goes down, the affiliates' sites cease to load thus taking their sites down with it.
Is there any way I can have the javascript check to see if the website is up before loading, and if it is, run this: Code:

I'm trying to use an image rotator on a site. I've been told that we are set up to use Jquery plugins. But I'm not exactly sure what that means. Do I need to upload the jquery files to my server? Or can I just link to them? Here are the two files.
[URL]
Also, currently the rotator moves too quickly. How can I slow it down? Here's the entire script.
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://cloud.github.com/downloads/malsup/cycle/jquery.cycle.all.latest.js"></script>

This is a "can I" or "is it possible" question:
If I have one main html file that calls an external JS file that contains only an array (infoArray), know I can do this code...
Now the question...
Instead of 2 different main.html files, to load the different inforArray.js files, can I somehow overwrite the contents of the infoArray
AFTER the information has been loaded from the first external JS file?
I have seen code that adds elements to the <head> section as the page loads,
is there something similar to load/change array information during or after page load?
Or is this something that should be done by having text information in the file and loading with ajax and processing to an array afterward?

Order entry project. I am using an iFrame to pull external forms that I can not change. Once our employee enters in the information and submits I would like to redirect the existing window to a new page.
I've tried many variations of:
<script type='text/javascript'>
function iHistory() {
var hist=history.length;
if (hist>1){
parent.window.location = "orderentry.php";
}}
</script>
Since I have no control of the external form I have been using OnLoad() in the iFrame tag to call iHistory(). The script works great unless the browser history is >1 If possible, I would like to also setup like a 5 or 10 second delay so the employee can see the framed confirmation page before redirect. So the function needs to check current history.length, when that changes delay 5-10 seconds and redirect parent window to orderentry.php

trying to make my javascript menu load underneath these two. I have put
the src="menu.js" after the two jpg's in the code but it always loads
above them in the browser.
Is there a way of getting my menu as the third item down from the top
or will javascript always load to the top?

I have found a solution for showing an element on page load (it should be hidden if JS is blocked), but the CSS and the JS go into the <head>. I prefer to keep all such code in external files, so how do I adapt it to support that approach? Found code is as follows (if it can be improved on, feel free to say so):
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
document.write('<style type="text/css">#myDiv {display: block;}</style>');
</script>

I am in a bit of a rut in the self-teaching with JS. I am trying to get links to change the external js file currently on the main page without reloading, the external files are basically long document.write sections with a few interactive functions.
The closest I have found for help with this so far is a rotating script, but I want a manual change from a link (button, image, etc) instead of timeOut rotation. I am not sure what I need to do for the links to replace the timeout function to change the dynamic section.

I want to use an image map for something unique. The image would have about 10 to 15 (religious) symbols. When the user clicks on a particular symbol it will search the site for a few strings relating to that symbol. For example: Symbol 1 would be a cross when clicked it search the site for "christ, crucifix, christianity". I am sure I can make the image map but how do I make the image map call a function instead of a link.

Normally in CSS you can use background: to bring in an image or a swf file and then display a logo over it from within the HTML as below.
<css>
.row-logo{ background: url(banners/boats_harbor.jpg) 0 0 no-repeat; height:172px;}
.row-logo img{ width:387px; height:110px; margin:0 0 0 0;}
<html>
<div class="row-logo"><a href="index.html"><img src="banners/ehba_logo.png" alt="" /></a></div>
However, I am currently working on a banner that rotates through images via javascript that I want to have in the background under css and still be able to display a logo from within the HTML code. As shown above, that is easy with a picture, but how do you call the javascript and then its ID from within the HTML?

this is where the animation stuff is controled. If you want it should be pretty easy to figure out. Otherwise I will look through it later and figure it out...
