I have a function to fetch remote content from other different domain into to the site. I need to stop the continuous execution of the script (say the script has gone to infinite loop). My below script stop the continuous request after 8 seconds on the same domain but it does not work for the cross-domain.
I've used JSON as AJAX are not supported on cross-domain architecture.code...

I'm curious if anyone knows how to fix this. Most of the content of my page is 940px wide. The superfish menu, expanding as it should to fit my drop-down heading text, is only about 700px wide. I want to apply a color background to the div that the superfish menu is housed in so that the menu appears to be 100% width.
For some reason, in webkit and firefox, the color of the div that the menu is contained in does not show up, so there's just an empty space in that last 25% or so of the bar.
In IE, it looks correct, though. (the color of the containing div shows through the blank space in the menu, making the menu bar appear to fill the entire width).
Am I missing something in the Superfish menu that makes it appear at 100% width?
What I've already build can be found on demo. The Idea:I wanted to build a menu that when you hover the menu button the menubuttons slides up, when it is ready all the menubuttons will slide down. The next may slidedown when the first one is ready, etc.When you leave you mouse outside the picture, all the menuitems must slide up (like to have them slideup like it works when they slidedown) and the menubutton must slide down.The idea works, so that's not the problem, maybe the code could be better, but I thinks that's for later.The problem:When a user hovers very fast between menubutton and outside the picture the menubutton is slidedup, down etc. When you do this even faster the menuitems are stuck and shown, and that is not what I want.

I am trying to incorporate a javascript form field detection function that alerts the user that they have not submitted their changes if they try to navigate away. The detection works as designed, but the problem I am having is when the form is submitted, the script senses an unload and still fires the alert. The form submits to itself and updates the database and then reloads the page with the new values. Is there a way to have the script ignore the forms submit url and skip the form check?Here is the code ( NOT mine, found it somewhere else.)

The following code is my form, if one of the fields is left blank (and there will usually be one left blank) the calculation returns NaN and will not perform the task needed. I initially had the form set to calculate in metric kilometers and liters, when I converted the math portion to miles and gallons it started doing this.This is the line giving me the problems:

I have a three field contact form on an HTML5 page. Using CSS3/HTML5 techniques, the fields change state as the info is entered properly (green OK symbol if good, red "!" if not, etc). That all works as expected in all browsers.
My final hurdle is preventing the form being submitted with nothing entered in the fields. I have done hours of research and have tried several ways of writing the checkFeedbackForm function. My problem is that none of the solutions I've found are recognized by FireFox (mac and pc) and IE. They just ignore the javascript and allow the empty form to be emailed.

When a user has entered text into form fields and hits the Save button, the text is saved into local storage. When they hit the Load button at a later date, the text fields are populated.If the user does NOT enter text and hits the Load button, the default empty text fields are populated with the word "undefined." The <div> (id='name') is displayed if nothing is entered and the user clicks submit, however if the user then enters a value into the text field, and re-submits, the <div> still appears.

I'm trying to throw some validation in here which I can do in php (a language that I'm much more proficient in) but can't figure out how to get the two together. I want to be able to do a select against another table I have for both the frompdc and the topdc.

I am trying to validate a web form. Someone else wrote the Html code and implemented it with an iframe using asp and php. I didn't want to mess too much with the code so I decided to use javascript to make the form validate, before it was sending email alerts with every field blank. I want the tree to be displayed on all browsers (well, within a decent range). Of course, on older browsers, the menu won't be as functional.
Now, I'm going to be combining the javascript with a server-side language (asp.NET) and I'll be able to do some basic browser detection on the server.
But, I read about javascript object detection and am wondering how well that works exactly.
Like, what if a browser that doesn't support objects period tries to run some object detection code? Also, which browsers support user defined objects?
See, I'm thinking of breaking down the script in 3 categories. Browsers that won't get any javascript... these would be the browsers that don't support object detection, browsers with basic javascript... with these I would be able to code my own object and I would test for different features. And then there would be the browsers that can run it all.
So, basically, my question is what browsers support what features and how should I break down my code between them? A long time ago (back in the Netscape 4 / IE4 days) I did some javascripting, but since then I haven't really done any. I remember that NS4 didn't support div tags but supported layers... anyway, it got really messy.

I'm having trouble using the stop() function. I'm trying to make a dynamic menu using jquery library. This menu is now working pretty correctly but I can't manage the problem of multiple queued animations. My menu is made in two parts. The first one contains buttons. When they're hovered over, the second level of the menu appears just underneath. But when several buttons of the first menu are hovered over, I can't stop the second level to appear and disappear anarchically. Here is an example of code of the second menu :

This script made it possible to show Google suggestion while typing in an input field. The Google suggestions are retrieved over here: [URL] The problem is that all of the sudden it stopped working! For apparently no reason because Google is still 'providing' the suggestions online. So I have two questions: Why is it stopped working? Did Google restrict the suggestions to third parties?
