CSS And Form Validation - Changing The Font Color Of Labels ONLY When Stop The Form From Submitting Due To Blank Fields
Nov 2, 2011I'm having trouble changing the font color of my labels ONLY when I stop the form from submitting due to blank fields. I'm not sure whether if just changing my CSS will achieve what I want, or am I going to have to add somethig to my if else statement, or both? I would think I would need to change CSS to :

but a little confused on what else.

Run A Webpage Where The User Clicks On A County And A Window Pops Up With Either "No Data" Or The Name Of The County?
Apr 1, 2010I am trying to run a webpage where the user clicks on a county and a window pops up with either "No data" or the name of the County.
Here is my query code with the output fields:

The else part of the code works fine. It gives me the name of the county, but if I select LEE county it does not give me "No Data". I don't think I have the correct quotes/brackets in place.

Pass Non-mandatory Fields Onsubmit Even If Empty (or Tabs Or Blank Spaces)?
Mar 26, 2010I would like to passwith the help of javascript empty non-mandatory fields to my perl script (and replace them with a custom value). The form mailer script only passes the mandatory fields. When non mandatory fields are filled , these are added to the list of passed field values, otherwise the list includes only the mandatory ones. I'd like to pass all values even the empty ones so that the person receiving the submitted data via email can easily export them to a database via a macro written by somebody else. Another requirement from client: The predefined values must not show up in the form fields when loading the page with the form.
How can I check for empty values as well as for tabs or blank spaces and replace each of these fields with a value = "not available"? I tried to do solve this for empty fields (no tabs, no blank spaces) but my solution does not work properly. It requires me to click the submit button 3 times before the form is submitted (because with every click the "not available" value is added in each empty field.

May 12, 2010I'm not having this issue with Mozilla Firefox, but it seems that the results of the code below are being cached in EI 8. When the browser makes another asynchronous call to the server with different results from the database, those results are not being displaying on the wepage. How do I fix this problem. As I mentioned above the code works fine in Mozilla Firefox. The page displays data in EI 8 with no errors five seconds after the page has loaded, but as the information in the database changes, I'm not seeing those changes reflected on the page in 5 second intervals.

However, I would want that value to be displayed to the user as well before they insert it, just so they can verify that the value is correct. But how do I go about and do this?
It is probably very simple, but I'm a PHP programmer and have very little knowledge of JavaScript. Basically this is what I would want:
<field 1> -20 +(or -, depending on user input) <field 2>
Result of that to be displayed in <field 3>
However, I only want the -20 to calculated when something is entered in <field 1> so that it does not say -20 in the output field before the user even started typing a value.

Mar 29, 2011I was developing a site search for someone and I got it fully functioning-- the php calls on the input field with #searchField.All the user has to do is begin typing and the results appear underneath without ever having to click submit or enter/return.However, the customer was wondering if I could integrate the Wolfram Alpha Computational Search as well.So that a page visitor or user would type in the search field the results searching his site would appear below, as mentioned above; but, if one typed a query and hit enter then it would search WolframAlpha.I first made a page, here, that uses the code Wolfram Alpha's developer community was giving to developers that creates an input field and searches wolfram Alpha one hits enter. (It writes the necessary html in a messy way and includes this base.css file)Here is a screenshot of the html code that the wolframAlpha.js file writes from chrome dev tools.
After doing so, I put the code of the page I developed for my client and the above page together and what I got was two separate input fields, one that searches the site (top, but it doesn't work due because I did not attach that file as where this is located can't parse PHP) and one that searches wolfram alpha (bottom -- does work).You can see the result of the combined code here.

Jan 28, 2011I made this function to duplicate form elements with a little html-code surrounding the input fields. First i clone the html of the first child found (always gets rendered by php). Then, everytime the add-button is pushed, i append a cloned piece of that stored html. It's working fine except for the delete button.
It's seems that whenever a cloned html is removed, the other cloned elements aren't recognized anymore by the delete buttons (although the delete buttons are in them)

I have found a lot but so far all of them add an input field but I desperatly need a textarea or ideally a section of input fields.
I have tried to change the code from input to text area but none of them worked.

Jul 20, 2005I have multiple fields in a form with the same name. Lets call the fields with the same name "junk_array". My first field of junk_array is a input type=hidden. All the others fields in junk_array that follow are type=text. I can reference this first hidden field in IE with document.form.field[0].value. In, fact my form works absolutely wonderful in IE 6. However, netscape 4.7 does not recognize my first field in the array as the hidden field. Netscape sees the first visible text field as the first field in the array, subscript 0. What totally and utterly perplexes me, is that, from a previous thread, I can do this and get 9999 back in an alert
box in Netscape and IE. So, this proves Netscape doesn't have some evil code that disregards hidden fields. I guess...

I even copied these fields directly below the opening <form> tag in my form and both Netscape and IE see the first hidden field as as

However, my form is much more complicated. I have tables within tables and about 30 other fields. In my form I cannot for the life of me get Netscape to recognize the first hidden field of junk_array to zed as index 0.
Somehow, If I make the first type=hidden fields visible, netscape does work nicely. Why when I toggle type=hidden to type=text does Netscape cooperate. What is happening here? Anyone else have this problem with hidden fields in Netscape? I could post the code to my form but it is

Extracting Fields From A Db Depending On The Number Of Fields?
Jan 7, 2011I have used this piece of code which is working great. It allows me to add different items from combo boxes to my order form. The problem is that i dont know how to extract the data from my db to display in a form view when i want to amend the i.e the number of items. Each record has a different number of items in it but are all lnked to one id. Is this possible to do. Any help on this would go along way.
