Having a few problems with a form validation script. Its supposed to stop sending the form if key fields are missing, but it just sends them anyway!

From what i can see the fields match, it all links up correctly but still it will allow blank forms to be sent.
I'm having trouble changing the font color of my labels ONLY when I stop the form from submitting due to blank fields. I'm not sure whether if just changing my CSS will achieve what I want, or am I going to have to add somethig to my if else statement, or both? I would think I would need to change CSS to :

I am using the ultimate form validator [URL] but the form is still submitting even though it says which fields are missing..

( A is required OR B is required). In other words, a user can input data to field A, or he can input data to filed B, but he can not input data to Both A and B at the same time. View 17 Replies View RelatedI have a form on my website that takes registrations for my classes. The form currently is sent to a php that checks for empty fields. If all is good, they are passed to a thank you page. If any empty, they go to a page that reminds them to fill in all required fields, where I've provided a history-back button. Problem is that 1) the captcha image isn't refreshed, and 2) with 14 fields, they have to find the missed field!
This is where I thought that This Script would work great. It adds a "sentence image" in red when a required field is missed. This would keep the person on the same page, and highlight the missed fields!
My Problem; I've tried to adapt the script to my already existing form, but when I click the submit button, I quickly see my tables "expand" from the inserted image (haven't sized the image to fit yet, so it enlarges the table), but then immediately proceeds to the php script!

I have a working contact form with 3 of the fields requiring validation and they work well. I have added extra fields to the form (StatusClass, Project, CameFrom). These 3 fields return fine but I need to validated them. My problem is that the new fields don't show in the behaviours/validate panel even though they are within the form tag.

I'm having trouble validating a form with javascript before sending it to a php script. Even when the form fails validation it still sends to the php. I believe it's to do with my validation script. You can see the script live here: [URL]

I have a couple of forms which use JS validation and if the validation checks out the forms action is a new php page which sends the form (see code below). It all works fine but occasionally blank emails come through. After researching some people say I shouldn't use client side validation. Is there an easier way by tweaking the code I have rather than changing it all completely?

Here is one I cannot seem to figure out. I've got a set of text boxes with the change event bound to a function that will do some validation and add some numbers together. If the user enters something that is not a valid number I want to alert them and then put the focus back on the offending field.
My problem is that the event that I'm capturing is not the actual tab key or mouse click. So even though I set the focus in my event handler, the initial event that started the whole thing still moves the focus to the next field or where ever the mouse was clicked.
I've tried preventDefault, stopPropagation, returning false, and a bunch of other things to no avail. I hope it is something I'm missing or not seeing. If not it seems like my only choice is to capture all the events (key presses, mouse clicks etc. and handle them all which seems rather tedious.

The attached page has 3 entries to be made. Now I want to validate them, that is, if the form is submitted with even one blank field an error must be indicated. I have put the validation code but it doesn't work upon empty form submission.

For example, if someoneforgets to prefix http:// before an url, I can just do that, instead of returning error messages. Or sometimes, a field needs to be lowercased and I can just do that, too. I've found ways to do that, but it feels like a hack. Am I missing a feature ?

I have a large form. One part of it is a column with selects. All drop-downs initially set to "No". The only other option is "yes". I need to make sure that at least one select is set to "yes". Any number, even all of them can be changed to "yes", but only one is required. I can easily add a rule that requires all the fields of the certain class to have certain type of value, but can't think of a way in js to only have one required. I can easily count number of "yes" values with PHP and prevent submitting on the back end, but would really like to have jquery do it first.

Now at the moment it simply displays a "Required field" message, but i want it to highlight the text boxes in red instead, take a look at the link below, hit the submit buton and see what happens.. Now I got in trouble by having a Form which will get extended by user inputs. To explan in detail: I have a Form with static fields and so on. But then if the User selects in the form the amount of Persons, I append Name and Surename Text Fileds to the static form and give the form fileds dynamically generated names. now have the problem to validate the dynamically generated text fields in that form!

I have a form that has 4 "required fields" that validate using JS. I am now trying to add a 5th "required field" (the difference is that this field is a "radio button input as opposed to a text input).
I have it working so that when the 1st radio button is selected, the form will go through. However, when the 2nd radio button is selected, it comes up with the "please fill in all required fields" error.

I am using javascript to validate a form, and my code works in Firefox, but in IE6 and IE8 it is acting as if it is missing some of the form entries. One of the missing form options is created by using a php function, and the other is created dynamically using javascript. However, there are other dynamically created form entries that IE can read just fine.

I am having a problem with the submit() method that is driving me nuts. I'm using document.form.submit() with large text fields (approx. 2000 characters) and am getting a "Invalid Syntax" error. If I do the same thing with a text field of under 1500 characters, it works fine.
Is there some size limit here that I don't know about?
We're using Malsup's form plugin v2.82 and jQuery core 1.6.2. We're having issues in IE7 where, on a form with file upload, form fields are being dropped before the form is submitted to the server.We tracked it down to the `fileUpload` function, specifically line 196 where each field in the form data has `.attr('disabled',false)` run against it. If we change this to`.prop('disabled',false)` it all works fine.I don't see a clearly marked place to submit bug reports for the form plugin, and wanted to verify that others see this as well,

I have a form that has a reset button, and when it's closed, the form is reset. However, at least in testing on my own machine, I notice that the form fields are remembering past input (on Firefox 4 anyway). Once this goes public, I don't want the form remembering anything in case the website is viewed on a public machine. How can I keep the form fields from remembering any past input?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am re-developing my website and want to use some Ajax/jQuery in it (so I am learning as I go) and I am not sure if this is possible so that is my first question:I have a registration form and I would like to know if after the person registering has completed their first and surname and the 2 sections of their postcode if I can use jQuery to run a PHP script to see if they are already registered before waiting for the form to be submitted and running a script then.I am thinking onkeyup (or similar) after the last field is completed but I don't know how that would work needing to also use 3 other field values.If this is possible, can anyone give me any ideas of examples that do this or how I can go about passing all the variables and running the scripts at the correct time.
