Js Stop Working - Show Google Suggestion While Typing In An Input Field

Dec 12, 2011

I had a beautiful script written by @rnd me that looks like this:

Code:

function el(tid) {return document.getElementById(tid);}
function addScript(u){
var head=document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0],
[Code]....

This script made it possible to show Google suggestion while typing in an input field. The Google suggestions are retrieved over here: [URL] The problem is that all of the sudden it stopped working! For apparently no reason because Google is still 'providing' the suggestions online. So I have two questions: Why is it stopped working? Did Google restrict the suggestions to third parties?

Show A Larger Input Field With Mouseover?

Nov 9, 2009

I'm showing in a field the name of the file the user has chosen. I would like to show the whole name as the title when passing the mouse over the field, in case the name is too long. I swear this was working, but it's not anymore (I'm testing with FF). I don't know how it was working, maybe I used a different combination of quotes or semicolons or I don't know. I can't make it work again. When you pass de mouse over the field it is showing the code instead of the innerHTML referenced:

Ajax :: Perform A Request As Someone Is Typing Into A Text Field?

Nov 30, 2009

I need to perform an Ajax request as someone is typing into a text field. But I don't want to trigger a request on every key press. What I need is to perform the request if a key has not be pressed for x number of milliseconds.I seen an answer here - Time Restraint - but I'm having difficulty applying it to my situation.I'm using jquery and this is a trimmed down version of my current code:

javascript Code:
Original
- javascript Code

I don't know how to change this function to use setTimeout in a way that lets me execute a trigger function on a control relative to the current field. Ideally I need to pass $(this) as a parameter for the function setTimeout calls, but I don't know how to do that when the function call is passed as a string.

If User Types In The Correct Info Into An Input Field - Then Show A Submit Button

Jul 2, 2009

I'd like to create a quick and dirty validation method for a form. It's not meant to be very secure.

The way I picture it working is this - there is an input field that asks for a password. If the user types in the password correctly, the "submit" div tag will change from "none" to "block". , which will display the submit button. I just am not familiar with JS enough to know if that's possible.

Here's what I'm starting with:

JQuery :: Two Input Fields / Give Second Input Field Always Same Value As Input Field One

I am having a form with two input fields. I want to enter some text in the first input field and then the second field should get the same text. Is there a simple way (maybe a plugin) to do this with jQuery? It would be perfect if I even could output all these input fields values as normal text in
or
tags.

Stop Google Chrome Loading A Frame Before It's Ready?

Feb 23, 2010

I have a website which includes stories with multiple chapters. These chapters have a set of clickable arrows at top and bottom to take you forwards and back through the chapters, including a "last chapter" arrow.When a story is in progress, the URL of the last chapter changes with each chapter added. Rather than having to go back into every previous chapter and change the URL of the last chapter by hand, I set them up so that the "last chapter" arrow is actually in an inline frame. That way, I only have to change the URL once, in the file go_end.htm which is the source for the frame. So both the picture of the arrow and its hyperlink are being accessed from outside.

My web pages are also set up to run on all major browsers and to detect the window width and resize all the artwork to fit, regardless of the browser and whether or not it accepts percentage sizes. Go_end.htm is no exception - it contains Javascript code which resizes the arrow so it is the same size as the ones which are actually in the parent page, outside the frame.This setup works perfectly in IE and Netscape, but Google Chrome either fails to display the arrow or makes it huge so it doesn't fit the frame. This seems to be because their superfast new Javascript editor is *too* fast. If I bung an alert command into go_end.htm, asking it to say the value of picWidth (the variable which sets the width of the arrow) as it loadfs, what happens is this.

Google Chrome displays an alert saying that picWidth is zero, then loads the first instance of the inline frame with no got-to-end arrow. Then it displays an alert giving a proper value for picWidth and loads the second inline frame with the arrow correctly displayed and sized. If I take out the alerts, it doesn't load the arrow in *either* frame. It's obvious that inserting the alert command somehow forces it to recognise the value of the variable which it then retains for long enough to load the arrow on the second pass.Any ideas for some command other than alert which would trick it into not loading the image until it's recognised the variable? If I put a time delay on loading the frame I can't see that that would help - the problem is that from the point at which it starts actually loading the frame it needs to wait for the variable to be set.

Stop Google Analytics Setting Cookies On Subdomain

Jul 7, 2009

I'm trying to serve static content from a cookieless subdomain s.mydomain.org.uk, so that image/css requests from pages at [URL] don't get sent with needless cookie data. The trouble is that Google Analytics insists on adding its cookies (_utma, _utmz) to those requests anyway!

My code is:

try {
var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("xxxx");
pageTracker._setDomainName("www.mydomain.org.uk");

How To Show Address Balloon Tip On Google Map

Jun 15, 2009

I'm using this script to display an address on a Google Map and if there's more than one plausible point, then a "Did you mean" function is run. It woks fine:

//
if (GBrowserIsCompatible()) {
var map;
var geo;
var reasons=[];
function load() {
map = new GMap(document.getElementById("map_canvas"));
map.addControl(new GLargeMapControl());
map.addControl(new GMapTypeControl());
map.setCenter(new GLatLng(20,0),2); .....

It works perfectly, but once a marker has been put on the map, I would like to display a balloon tip with the address and maybe some additional info. Just like in this [URL] example from Google. I guess I'm supposed to use this line:
marker.openInfoWindowHtml(address);
But I don't know where to put it.

JQuery :: Stop Queuing With The .show() Effect?

Dec 6, 2010

I'm just trying to get used to jquery. I decided to try and make a simple drop down menu so I used the jquery show/hide effect with mouse events. I just have issues with this effect and wonder if I am going about it in the right way. here is my code for the show/hide:

$(".menu").mouseenter(function() {
$(".submenu", this).show("fast")
});
$(".menu").mouseleave(function() {
$(".submenu", this).hide("fast")
});

If I move my mouse over the mouse event area the menu opens the way I want it to and If I move my mouse off the mouse event area it closes the way I want it to. But if I do it rapidly its like jquery has to open and close the menu for each instance I go over or out of the area and it has to play "catch up". My mouse could be inactive and somewhere off in the corner and the menu is opening and closing "x" amount of times to complete all its tasks. From what I understand this is called "queueing" in jquery and this feature can be turned off so I tried something like this:

$(".menu").mouseenter(function() {
$(".submenu", this).clearQueue().show("fast")
});

Doing this causes a worse problem because now if I go rapidly eventually they won't even open at all. In the best case I would like the menu to have a slight delay when I move the mouse off of it and then when I return the mouse to the menu I would like it to cancel the previous "mouseleave" event.

It is possible through the show effect or should I should I be using the animate effect to create a custom animation. If so what do I "animate" with the animate effect. I tried ".animate({dispaly: "show")} but all that does it quickly shows the menu and then it disappears.

to explain the basics of my menu design the class "menu" has the top level menu title within that element itts child is the submenu element with all the submenu items on it. The submenu is set to absolute positioning so it doesn't effect anything when it opens/closes and by default the display is none. This all works great with the ".show()" effect except for the queueing issue.
