How can I use jQuery to submit multiple forms with different types, values, and actions? For example:
Code:
<form name="form1" method="get" action="submit1.php">
<input name="value1" type="text" value="">
</form>[code]....
Can I start the jQuery process from within a function when clicking on the submit button?

Maybe this has been tackled in another post but I couldn't find it through some searching so here goes...I'm using an Ajaxy method to update an administrative form and what I would like to do is update multiple text fields when the onchange fires from a dropdown list. Basically, I pull up a business name in the dropdown and fields for address, city, postal, phone, fax, etc... is updated.
The script that I've cobbled together is really good at updating one item via the XMLHttpRequest() responseText property and I could send a string of variables that I could break out into an array to loop into the innerHTML of each item but I was hoping there would be a more sophisticated way to do it.Is there a way to pass a responseArray instead of just a string of text?

I have the data of every user inside an XML file, such as address, username, email etc. I want to add markers to the map depending on the address and I want every marker to display a info window with data of the user in that location. The problem is that I get an error when I try to pass the other data with the getLocation method of the geocode. The markers are displayed in the map but the data in the info window aren't.
Code:
GDownloadUrl("mysql_to_XML.php", function(data) {
var xml = GXml.parse(data);
var markers=xml.documentElement.getElementsByTagName("marker");
for (var i = 0; i < markers.length; i++) {
var username = markers[i].getAttribute("username");
var email = markers[i].getAttribute("email");
var address = markers[i].getAttribute("address");
geocoder.getLocations(address, getCoordinates(email, username));
}});
function getCoordinates(response, email, username) {
place = response.Placemark[0];
//Retrieve the latitude and longitude
point = new GLatLng(place.Point.coordinates[1],place.Point.coordinates[0]);
var marker = createMarker(point, username, address, email);
map.addOverlay(marker);
}

This question may appear opposite of most, but I'm learning JS using a book and I can't understand why/how this particular code works. I'm working on simply retrieving and passing information to and from html forms. This is a very simple script that will change what is selected in the drop down box depending on a button push.
Here is the script:
Code:
function flip(pizzatype) {
if (pizzatype.value == "Veggie Special") {
document.forms["pizzaform"].topping.value = "veggies";
} else if (pizzatype.value == "Meat Special") {
document.forms["pizzaform"].topping.value = "meat";
} else if (pizzatype.value == "Hawaiian") {
document.forms["pizzaform"].topping.value = "hampineapple";
}}
And here is the form's html:
Code:
<form id="pizzaform" action="#" onsubmit="return false;">
<p>
<input type="button" name="veggiespecial" onclick="flip(veggiespecial)"
value="Veggie Special"/>
<input type="button" onclick="flip(meatspecial)" name="meatspecial"
value="Meat Special" />
<input type="button" onclick="flip(hawaiian)" name="hawaiian"
value="Hawaiian" />
</p>
<p>Main Topping: <select name="topping">
<option value="cheese" selected="selected">Cheese</option>
<option value="veggies">Veggies</option>
<option value="meat">Meat</option>
<option value="hampineapple">Ham & Pineapples</option>
</select></p>
</form>
The way I see it is the button onclick will call the flip function and pass it a var, for example "veggiespecial". I understand the code that will perform the actual change on the drop down menu. What I don't understand is the if statement.
if(pizzatype.value == "veggiespecial")...
Shouldn't it be just (pizzatype == "veggiespecial")?
Why does it have to be pizzatype.value? Where the heck does the .value come from???

I have a database that shows about 5 to 10 recorrds on a page that contain forms for the user to fill out. The number of rows is unknown and depends on the user query.On the page there can be 2 or 10 records displayed ..each containing a form that needs to be validated.How can i use that. The IDs of the elements would have to be generated dynamicly i suppose. Anyone of you got an idea how to do that ?

I'm trying to write some javascript code that will give a user one of two messages (Correct or incorrect) base on whether they answer a question correctly. I have 2 issues that I was hoping someone could help me with:
1) My "incorrect" and "correct" messages all appear on the page load. Is there anyway to start without them being there?
2) More troubling: No matter what I put into the input boxes, the "incorrect" message pops up. Basically I need to better understand how to grab the actual input value (it's commented down below so I think that this should be a quick fix!)
Code:
function showAnswer(blurred,response)
{
var form = blurred.form;
var rbs = form[blurred.name];
[Code].....

I have a list of products where they have minimum quantities in a hidden input. Some products have multiple colours, though the same minimum quantity and I'm trying to implement a jQuery check that entries made are at least equal to the minimum.
Blank or '0' entries are fine but if it's below the minimum quantity it should set to the minimum.
HTML:
Is there something obviously wrong with this? It isn't performing the minimum check and I'm really not sure why.

I'm currently working on a website called 'eXtreme Gaming' I've almost completed it, apart from two things.
- Adding two values on my checkout page for the Grandtotal (I've tried everything, but I'm too much of a noob and have probably missed something small).
- Validation of forms (I don't know where to start here, I've looked on w3schools for tuts etc but I'm having difficulty incorporating it on my site)

I'm trying to create a dynamic form, and for the most part it's working out fine.I'm using javascript with onclick and onchange on checkboxes and select boxes to change the form as the user makes selections.However, there's a few issues I'm running into that are giving me problems.
One is that when the user reloads the page, all of the javascript inserted or removed form elements are reset, but the choices on the checkboxes and select boxes aren't, which looks very strange to the user. How can I avoid this? I'm currently including scripts tags in the body of the html, but this is pretty messy and hard to manage. Is there a better way? Second is that I'd like to be able to insert javascript function declarations into text that is dynamically inserted by javascript.However, when I do so, the browser does not recognize the functions. The reason I'd like to do so is that I am using Ruby on Rails, and would like to be able to keep the scripts in the partials to which they relate. I have to use inline javascript, because the scripts are having element ids inserted based on Ruby variables. Is this a lost cause, or is there a technique that enables dynamically inserted javascript to be loaded?
Lastly, my dynamic form's javascript shows or hides portions based on what it encounters while loading. The main reason is that I want to show the whole form for users without javascript, and then hide advanced or obscure details unless they are activated with a checkbox on the form for users with javascript. However, this is creating a jarring pop-in effect, where on first load, the pre-javascript formatted page is shown for a split second, and then the javascript kicks in and fixes everything and the page visibly jumps and changes. Is there a way to avoid this to create a more polished effect?

I have been looking around on the webs but have not found anything. I can find how to add multiple fields, but what if they reside on different forms on the same page?
For example, here is my code with two forms:
<FORM name="form1">
<b>Size</b><input type="text" size="12" value="" name="size">*
<b>Qty</b><input type="text" size="4" value="" name="qty"
[Code]....
In this example, I want to sum the two fields named "tw1" (the last field on each form) into a text box.

I am trying to update a site that has a cookie feature enabled so that a certificate can be retrieved later on.I am using a form to collect and put the cookie, but I have to use two buttons to get the information stored and then direct the user on through to the rest of the site.My question is:Can I combine these functions into the same button? I have scoured the web for solutions, but I can't seem to find anyone doing this exact thing. I know that websites do this type of thing all of the time.

How do I reference a div in a form when there are multiple forms on a page? Each form will have a unique id. I'm trying to change the style.display of a div in a particular form. I can alter elements inside that div (whether they have id's or names), but I can't seem to reference the containing div. For example, I have a div with an id=customOrder. Inside the div I have 3 objects. I want to be able to change the display value for the div instead of having to change each objects' display. I'm currently passing (this.form) on a button click (which is what triggers the display of this div - well hopefully eventually). I've tried several things, but I guess I'm not getting the right combination.
The ultimate thing I'm trying to accomplish (and maybe this is part of my issue) is I have a series of 2 drop down menus I want to use for numerous items for purchase. I've included the drop down menus as "php includes", so when the page renders out, there will be multiple instances of the drop down menus (multiple instances of id's and names) - unless there is another way around this, I've got to work this way. I've got so far as to be able to distinguish which form's "add to cart" button was clicked and its corresponding drop down values. As of now, when I code a textarea to be hidden, it hides ALL textareas on the page (because I can't figure out how to reference a div on a formID by formID basis... If I need to supply a mock-up example, I can put one together...

I have a form, and i am trying to add the values of 5 fields into one javascript variable. Then i need an ajax function to search a directory for a php file made from these variables and return a "file exists" or "file doesnt exist" message to the form.
For example, assume the following values have been inputted into the fields;
Field1 (Manufacturer) - Kawasaki
Field2 (Model_Name) - GPZ500
Field3 (Nickname) - None
Field4 (Market) - UK
Field5 (Year) - 2000
Then javascript needs to add the values of Field1 - Field5 (and add a few bits)to create (for example):
Kawasaki_GPZ500_None_UK_2000.php
Then i need ajax to search a web directory for the file above, and if it exists return a link, or if it doesnt exist tell the user it doesnt exist.
im hoping that i can use ajax to do this search without clicking any buttons etc. unfortunately i have very little knowlegde of javascript and ajax and dont have a clue how i can go about implementing this.
i know how to do it by posting the variables to the next page and doing the check using php - but i would like instant validation as soon as the form fields have been entered.

I have two forms with identically named arrays on each. I need to copy the values to the second form's array. Here's a simplified version of the HTML:
<form name="mainform">
<input type="text" size="10" name=firstnames[] value="Joe"/>
<input type="text" size="10" name=firstnames[] value="Bob"/>
<input type="text" size="10" name=firstnames[] value="Pat"/>
[Code]....
I'd like to be able to submit hiddenform with the firstnames array equal to ['Joe', 'Bob', 'Pat']. But I seem to be getting an awful lot of ['', '', ''] no matter how I go about it.

I'm trying to develop fast, simple, html-based front ends
for some Windows application programs. My idea:
1. Use html forms to let users supply run parameters (title,
run options, etc.)
2. When the user presses a submit button:
a. The selected options for all the form fields are
written to an external file (e.g., c:projectinput.txt)
b. The application program, say, prog.exe, is executed.
This program then reads the run parameters from the file
input.txt and proceeds. Code:

I'm using the autofill forms plugin for firefox which can be found here: [URL]. I use it to automatically fill various web forms. But I would like certain values to be chosen randomly from a list I create. I contacted the developer and he said the add on probably does not need a new feature because there is a 'dynamic tags' function to fill certain forms with dynamic values (e.g. the current time or date). He has given over the project to another developer and told me I probably would find a solution in a good javascript programming forum.
Basically, I just need a javascript code which chooses on item from an array randomly, I guess? Here are sample dynamic tags from the plugin:
<datetime> new Date().toLocaleString()
<useragent> navigator.userAgent
<langcode> navigator.language
<resolution> screen.width+'x'+screen.height
<clipboard> this.getClipboardText()

I have a JSP page with several forms on it. Some of these forms are
generated dynamically, and each of them submits some information to a
database.
Handling one form is easy, as I can simply make the form post to
itself, and handle the
data using a single bean. Since I have multiple forms, I now have a
problem. Several of the forms on the page handle the same type of data
(same input names), and a 'setproperty *' call for each of the form
beans would change data in several beasn, not just the form/bean that
sent the data.
I am attempting to write a separate JSP with a single bean that
handles a form submission. However, I'm not sure how to make this page
go back to the referring page from which the data was submitted.
