There is another annoying thing about pop-windows in IE, they seem to hang your browser, if you have more than a couple (4-5 or more) browser windows open.
Anyone else experience this? I think has to do with the way the popup is coded. I discovered if you don't specify a name in the Javascript call ther seems to be no delay.
false; - where the '' is where you normally would name the window.
Can a form be setup so that when select an item from a drop-down menu you are automatically forwarded to the page? I'm trying to do this to circumvent using a submit button or pressing "Enter."
I want a form that people fill in their name, email address then click a banner to submit the information to my site admin email address but as they submit using the banner, I want the site the banner is advertising to open up in a new window while the main page will go to a 'thank you' page.
OK, never seen anything like this before. I have this AJAX shopping cart I am developing where they add a product and the side bar of the site updates what's in the cart automatically. Works perfect in all browsers except IE (6 and 7).In IE it works the first time you add a product then after that the sidebar does not update AND there are no JavaScript errors. The cart is actually updated because when you refresh the page all the items you added are there.... got me scratching my head to say the least.Here's the scripts that run it (a little messy because I am still tinkering with it:
I began working on a "best" solution for screen res widths of 1024+ for centralised fixed width pages with potentialy large (or any size) left and right margin graphics and have come up with something I'm very happy with: an outside wrapper set to 100% + overflow hidden (removes the horizontal scrollbar on all screen res)
a wrapper inside that set to 1000px with margin auto (allows the central page to be in the middle of, or to fill the page of all screen res - brilliant because originally one main objective was for a left margin not to push the page to the right and out of view on a lower res screen) an inside wrapper inside the centralised one above set to for example, width 1800px and left 400px, allows both margins to be viewable for all screen res larger than the central page (1000px+)ok, so the final hurdle in what for me would be a perfect solution is for any screen res lower than 1000px - currently the horizontal scroll bar is removed - therefore the central page has its right potentialy chopped off.... and so with some research, I've put together the following JavaScript:
<SCRIPT language="JavaScript"> if (screen.width<1000) {document.getElementById('outsidewrapper').style.cssText='overflow: visible;';} </SCRIPT>
This is my best effort at JavaScript - I am slowly and steadily learning more. I feel its on the right track, to return the overflow on the outer wrapper would bring the horizontal scroll bar back, but on IE (lower than 1000 res screens) this causes an error and does not work on any browser.how to get this code to work, it'd make for me today a good day, if any of this is difficult to understand without seeing, the site is: http:[url]....
I've been banging my head against this for a bit now and have been reading all kinds of things - but, everything I try has failed. So, I thought I'd ask.I've just begun working with Javascript/Ajax .. in the last day to try and accomplish a task but, I can't seem to get this code to work in IE it works fine in Firefox.Perhaps someone can enlighten me - Basically, this is calling back from a php file that updates from a database to choose dropdowns/checkbox based on the users choices.
function getSex(theSex, myParent){ var ajaxRequest; try{
I have an html file with an Ajax form submit which works perfectly locally but when I upload it onto a server it works partially except for the:success: function(){}doesn't initiate, it actually inserts the data into the database and everything like it's supposed to but it doesn't process that it's successful.
I am trying to make comments system and i want to add smileys.the content of each comment is written in TEXTAREAI have a JS code that gets a "smiley code" like :) and adds it into the TEXTAREA. i mean it adds :) :( XD ;) or what i sent to the function.the TEXTAREA code:
I have some javascript the works in conjunction with a flash video player. When a user selects a video in the Flash video list and new video is called and begins to play. Also, when that video is selected a function called "doOnMediaLoad()" is called and inside of that function I have put a call to another function that I wrote in the same script.function that is called when user selects flash player video list.
function doOnMediaLoad(e) { vcomments_changed(e.id); //call to my function }

I'm using the Google AJAX APIs, but some reason google.load works when run through normal javascript, but if I call the method from my jquery ready function it doesn't work. Code and output is below
window.loadFirebugConsole is not a function If I comment out line 3 in code.js, the console debug runs okay, so the ready function is running okay. Even though there's a reference to Firebug, the same error occurs in Safari too. Nothing on the page loads.
I'm using jQuery 1.4 to hide a div (#cartPop) when the "close" link inside of it (#cartPop a) is clicked. Since I'm using animate() to fade the div out (opacity), I also have to use hide() to get rid of the div once it has faded out (otherwise the invisible div, which is on a higher z-index, blocks the elements on a lower z-index).
Code:
The problem is that the hide() function calls immediately without waiting for the animate() function to run. Even if I append a delay() function before hide() like so:
I'm wanting a table cell click event to remove and replace the table it was clicked on, however I'm finding that as it's deleting the original table object the actual running event code is being replaced and the function is bailing.how I can call the delete/refresh function from outside the event's function scope?
I have just started learning JQuery and have a doubt in the below code. $.get('myhtmlpage.html', myCallBack);The doubt is should the 1st parameter of the get function be a HTML file or can it be a unction name?
I want to call java function in javascript.In which we pass one parameter to function and its returns String value which I want to display in alert message.
I have a real perplexing issue. In two separate "projects" I had code that displayed checkboxes - when clicked, they would fetch information from a db and display it in the div below. I had code that displayed a jquery date-picker - when clicked, it would fetch information from a db and display it in the div below. My issue comes with this:
I have a function I call to see if people leave form fields empty. I have been asked by a client to check to make sure of the person's date of birth as well. They gave me the script, however, I am unsure how to do implement it. How do I add this to my existing checks? Code:
I am trying to minimize the amount of script that I use on my website. I have sections of each page; each section has the same basic layout. The divs and images that I want to make appear and disappear all have nearly identical ids, the only difference is the number at the end of the id.Is there a way to get one script to automatically detect which id number has been clicked and then show all elements with the same number at the end of the id? I would also like it to hide the elements in the hide function below (basically they are the elements that do not share the same id number).I currently have everything working the way I want it to using multiple functions like the one below but I woul
I have 2 javascript files: 1 containing generic functions for my site used sitewide and another for a particular web page containing just the javascript for that page. The page is also calling the jQuery javascript file.
What I want to do is have a javascript function in my main javascript file which uses features of jQuery such as show, hide etc. and then I want to call this javascript function from the other page specific javascript file.
[Code]...
This does not work and so was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction as to how to achieve this or something similar.
