View 1 RepliesI am working on a javascript for my blackberry. I am trying to capture the latitude and longitude of that phone. I am able to get the coordinates in an alert box but am having a little trouble writing it to a form input field.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC
"-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "[URL]">
<html xmlns="[URL]" xml:lang="en" lang="en">
<head><title>GPS Testing</title>
</head><body>
<script type="text/javascript">
if(blackberry.location.GPSSupported){
document.write("Your device supports GPS locating");
blackberry.location.onLocationUpdate(window.alert("Latitude: " + blackberry.location.latitude + " Longitude: " + blackberry.location.longitude));
var lat = blackberry.location.latitude();
var lng = blackberry.location.longitude();
blackberry.location.refreshLocation();
document.write(lat);
}
</script></body></html>
I am only able to test with Blackberry. I was trying to create a couple of variables with the "var lat =" and var lng =".
With this script I get the alert window and when I click ok it writes "Your device supports ...".
I have a form that posts data to a PHP mailer page I have created. When
it goes to the PHP mailer page it reads some of the data and modifies
the page accordingly using Javascript (hiding certain divs, etc...). My
goal, is to take all this data after it has been processed by
Javascript and send it through my PHP mailer as it is currently
formatted.
If it helps any, the track I am on right now involves encapsulating the
Javascript processed block in a div. I am then trying to take the
..innerHTML data from that div and store it in the PHP $message variable
for my mailer. This won't work because PHP is server side. So, I moved
on to generate some Javascript code (with PHP) that sends all that
messy HTML data that its processed through a URL variable to then be
read by PHP. This doesn't really accomplish what I want as it cuts off
about a quarter of the way through my data......
Any ideas??
One thing I thought of but don't know how to do or whether it's even
possible is using PHP to view the source of the current page and store
that as the HTML to be e-mailed. Or, is it possible to do something
similar to .innerHTML with PHP?
i do have a problem in passing javascript variable to <input type=hidden value="">

Might be a simple question, but I'm a Javascript and OOP newbie.
I have a form that I'm using Java & Ajax to dynamically validate while the user is typing (sort of, it actually executes the validate script after a 1 second pause in typing has passed). code...
Let me preface this with the usual disclaimer: I am new to this and have only been programming with Javascript, PHP for about 2 weeks now and have been lucky enough to have resolved the issues I have encountered. This one however is puzzling to me.
I have a HTML form created that collects member information. It calls, on submit, a confirmation page that lists all the data fields entered. This all works great. However, when I then post the variables from the first html form page from my second confirmation html page to my PHP script, using document.write with input type=hidden and inserting the address variable into the value field, the Javascript only passes this variable up to the first space. It is the only variable I pass that has a space in it.
I have verified that the variable does indeed contain the whole address and I have also verified when I execute the following: document.write ('<input type="hidden" name="address1" value='+address_1+'>');
the address_1 parameter passed to the php script only passes the string up to the first space.
I even tried to put fixed text in there instead of a variable (e.g.)
document.write ('<input type="hidden" name="address1" value="555 Drury Lane" >');
and it still only passes the string up to the first space (555).
I show the variable address_1 on my confirmation page and it shows the entire string.
I checked what was being passed and it seems that the Javascript is the culprit (or more likely the Javascript creator - me)
All my other variables (which don't have spaces) pass to the php script with no problems.
Right now I'm working on a website, and it has a hierarchical menu in the right and im also doing some content loading in a div, all that with javascript. My problem is that when they click on a link, I need to pass a variable "id" through the link. I dont want to pass it in the url, but I want to pass it in another way, for every link the id is going to be different. How can I pass a variable to another page and how can I retrieve it in that page so I can use it for the content loading?

Question 1: How can i transfer the slider value to another page?
Question 2: I am using the price value in the slider from my previous page using the [VarName,S] variable. It shows the first time price value successfully as it brought from the previous page but once I slide forward and than slide back the value initiated to 0 instead of the value i carried from the previous page. How can I retain the min price value to the value i carried from the previous page?
I want to pass the value of my <SCRIPT SRC= to my page in a variable e.g.
<script language="javascript">
if (location.search) {
var parmsrc = location.search.substring(1);

However, it is not working. Can this be done? I could not find it documented anywhere.
A need has come up, where I have to pass a text box entry to a Javascript Variable on the same page. Once I have that variable, I will need to utilize it on various places in the page. Here are the segmants of code I am working with:
*** DECLARING THE VARIABLE "firstname" (this would appear near the top of the body) ***
<script type="text/javascript">
var firstname;
firstname="This is Where I would like the text box to place it's value";
</script>
[Code]....
I know that I can set the text value of a DIV or SPAN very easily, but that is not what I want. I really would like it in a Js Variable that I can utilize freely in the code, wherever I need it.
1: Is this at all possible
2: What code am I missing to make this work. Again - I am very, very limited with Js knowledge.
Pass variable to jQuery function in another page? I have what I think is a simple question but I can't find an answer. I have two html pages - one.html, two html. [URL] one.html contains a jquery function that alerts the variable it is passed.
[Code]...
The problem is I want to call and pass the variable from another html page - two.html How can I call and pass a variable to the jQuery function in one.html from two.html ?
I have an unordered list of hyperlinks present in a right sidebar on each page where each list item is a specific topic. For example:
Drunk Driving
Homicide
Rape
Molestation
Etc.
Right now each of these simply hyperlinks to a page that contains a similar list with a few additions and those list items utilize the .load function to draw an external page for each topic into a div located below the list.
So, the sidebar list currently just links to 'crime.html' and 'crime.html' has a JQuery .load functionality built into the list of crimes that summons the respective topic pages into the target div. What I want to do is figure out a way where IF they click on one of the sidebar list items it takes them to the 'crime.html' and displays the specific topic they clicked on automatically in the target div. Right now anytime they click on the sidebar links (any of them) they merely take the person to the 'crime.html' page where would then have to select the topic again from the list that's present which then summons.. yep.. the external file into the target div. So, trying to eliminate that need for the 2nd click.
Here's the code I have on the 'crime.html' page that summons the external pages into the target div and provides some animation (fade in, out):
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#crimecontent').load('prostitution.html');
$('.crimes li a').click(function() {
var toLoad = $(this).attr('href');
[Code].....
Notice they all point to crime.html since I don't know how I can pass a specific topic to display. Therefore, they have to click again when they get to crime.html.
I have a PHP form with a html section at the bottom. There are 14 input text fields on the form and I want the form to send of the email as it should do and also take the name field, pass it to the following web page and display it in a <div> tag.
I think the relevant code looks like this
HTML section
Can I capture the input from FieldData0 and send it to the next webpage by Javascript or as a cookie? Or to have then confirm their name in a second form and automatically capture it before the submit button.
I have no script on the following page yet.
I have a function that generates the code I want from form input.
Beneath the form I want to create a div tag and write out the results from the form input.
How would I go about doing this?
How would I go about passing the results from the function (e.g. function newCode() {.......(code)... var scroll = X }
Then I want to write out X in a div tag?
i have a page called 'a.php'. on this page is a form with a textfield and a link.
if you click the link an pop up opens. in this pop up is an number visible with a link.
what i want is this:
when you click the link in the pop up, the number from the pop up must appear in the textfield from page a.php.

I'm trying to dynamically write out this line of javascript:
obj.offsetLeft
So I want to be able to feed a param of either Top or Left in and then write it out so it gets execuated correctly in the javascript....so i've tried stuff like:
function findPos(axis) {
obj.offset[axis]
and
function findPos(axis) {
obj.offset+[axis]
where axis is either Left or Top
If you specify arguments when writing a function should you still declare the argument variable inside the function?
example:
Code:
