I would like to override the "disabled" property of a hidden field. When
disabled is set to "true", it would call a function to disable 2 other text
fields on the form. When disabled is set to "false", it would enable those
2 text fields. You should also be able to get the value of it as if it were
a property:

I am trying find a way to create a specfic override to the same-origin policy between 2 frames so that I can use javascript find out the current url of frame2 from frame1.

I'm getting an error object required on the window.onkeypress line.
I have a data entry app and the users are keying with their right hand on the number pad and flipping pages with their left. If they want to use the normal tab key they have to take their hand off of the papers to do so. I figured it would be pretty simple to override the keypress even for the + key and divert it to act like tab was pressed instead.
I have a requirement to override the constructor of a javascript class. I have to execute the current constructor code and then call a javascript method. Basically, I need to execute a javascript method whenever an object of that particular class is created in addition to whatever is being done now. I do not want to copy and paste the current constructor code and override the initcomponent method. I am looking for an alternative for that.

SO: without using cookies - the remote system may not save them - our local library system has the OS instances screwed down to the point of frustration, hence the use of FF portable right now.

I am using javascripts in my index page. For navigation hovering, slideshow and the other one is for displaying inline content in a form of a lightbox. But the problem is they cant seem to work together. i have to remove the inline content JavaScript for the slideshow and navigation hovering JavaScript to work. All of them are in the header. An existing JSP is generating the HTML page and table. I have retro-fitted it so that it adds to each input field a 'trigger' to the onkeyup event.
The purpose of this trigger is check for the the cursor keys being pressed (UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT) and then if it is a logically valid move, shift to the next cell in that direction.
Now, the function it calls, doOnKeyUp, for the most part is working fine... when the input field in the table cells are a textbox or textarea, my method can re-focus the fields appropriately.
HOWEVER, I am having a huge headache when the input field is a combo box. Basically, the value of the combo box is changed with the cursor keys (which is default combo box behaviour (I think)), instead of moving to the next editable cell in that chosen direction.
Problem #1: My question: Is there a way to intercept/override the various onKey events or similar for the combo boxes. For the combo boxes, I want to continue to move between table cells UNLESS a do something specific, like press the spacebar to entire an update/modification mode for the current cell. Everything I have done so far does not prevent the combo box events from triggering.
Problem #2: Also, I tried a nasty hack to try and get it to work, by trying to switch the combo box's value back 1 spot (if it appeared to be needed) by changing the <combo box>.selected value. However, that change never appears to be taking hold, so it is staying at whatever the original selected value was. For this one, I am just curious as to the correct way to have javascript change the selected value in a combo box and make it "stick" and make it applied to the view/UI?

I'm currently working with Javascript to build some "dynamic" tabs. Basicly, the tab "onmouseover" and "onmouseout" event have been overriden to change the tab's css class.

I know in the new browsers you're not able to change the value of the status bar. Which is fair enough, i understand why and agree.
Although, i cant seem to get the value of the status bar. One used to be able to do window.status.
But that doesnt seem to work Wondered if someone could point me in the right direction.

I have noticed on one page that has a form that is displayed, the IE
status bar just keeps on ticking forward. This is on the center of the
status bar. Thsi happens even though the page says done.
This is using Microsoft Windows with IE. I have a form with a text box which I inspect onKeyDown to determine what key is pressed. Also if the page sits idle for a while an alert box comes up. Here's my issue.
If I load the page and wait for the time out a message is written to the staus bar. That works fine. But if I load the page, type one character in the text box and stop all activity the page times out again. But this time after the alert box has fully formed, the status bar quickly receives the message I want there but instantaneously changes to undefined.
