Navigation Hover / Slideshow / Display Inline Content Override Each Other

Nov 11, 2011

I am using javascripts in my index page. For navigation hovering, slideshow and the other one is for displaying inline content in a form of a lightbox. But the problem is they cant seem to work together. i have to remove the inline content JavaScript for the slideshow and navigation hovering JavaScript to work. All of them are in the header. I want to merge all these together so that they all work.

Navigation hover javascript:
<script type="text/javascript">
function MM_swapImgRestore() { //v3.0
var i,x,a=document.MM_sr; for(i=0;a&&i<a.length&&(x=a[i])&&x.oSrc;i++) x.src=x.oSrc;
}function MM_preloadImages() { //v3.0
var d=document; if(d.images){ if(!d.MM_p) d.MM_p=new Array();
var i,j=d.MM_p.length,a=MM_preloadImages.arguments; for(i=0; i<a.length; i++)
[Code] .....

Slideshow Javascript:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#slider').s3Slider({
timeOut: 3000
});});
</script>

Inline content Javascript:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$().piroBox_ext({
piro_speed : 700,
bg_alpha : 0.5,
piro_scroll : true // pirobox always positioned at the center of the page
});});
</script>

Excel Like Navigation In HTML Tables - Override/intercept Combo Box Keyboard Inputs

Sep 28, 2010

An existing JSP is generating the HTML page and table. I have retro-fitted it so that it adds to each input field a 'trigger' to the onkeyup event.

The purpose of this trigger is check for the the cursor keys being pressed (UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT) and then if it is a logically valid move, shift to the next cell in that direction.

Now, the function it calls, doOnKeyUp, for the most part is working fine... when the input field in the table cells are a textbox or textarea, my method can re-focus the fields appropriately.

HOWEVER, I am having a huge headache when the input field is a combo box. Basically, the value of the combo box is changed with the cursor keys (which is default combo box behaviour (I think)), instead of moving to the next editable cell in that chosen direction.

Problem #1: My question: Is there a way to intercept/override the various onKey events or similar for the combo boxes. For the combo boxes, I want to continue to move between table cells UNLESS a do something specific, like press the spacebar to entire an update/modification mode for the current cell. Everything I have done so far does not prevent the combo box events from triggering.

Problem #2: Also, I tried a nasty hack to try and get it to work, by trying to switch the combo box's value back 1 spot (if it appeared to be needed) by changing the <combo box>.selected value. However, that change never appears to be taking hold, so it is staying at whatever the original selected value was. For this one, I am just curious as to the correct way to have javascript change the selected value in a combo box and make it "stick" and make it applied to the view/UI?

Code example:

You can probably tell by the code that I had been trying various things to change the combo box's selection via javascript, but none has worked for me.

Jquery :: Navigation List Items Displaying Inline

JQuery :: Cycle With Anchors And Slideshow Navigation?

Dec 1, 2010

I'm using the jQuery Cycle plugin to build a slideshow that the main image is wrapped in an anchor and also has the thumbnailnavigation. I basically have the same code from the demo page of jQuery Cycle. Once I wrapped the images in a link the thumbnails broke. I have tried dropping the "slide.src" for $('#slideshow img).attr('src') but that still comes back as undefined.

timeout: 0,

Create Slideshow With Fade Transition And Navigation?

I am trying to create a slideshow like the one on this site: [URL]

However, I would like to use JavaScript and CSS instead of Flash. I would be super grateful for any suggestions on how to do this. I am currently using the InnerFade plugin, which works great for the slideshow part, but I can't figure out how to integrate the navigation; I'm not even sure where to start! I'm open to starting over from scratch and not using InnerFade.

JQuery :: Navigation Menu - Image Fly Over Top On Hover

Jan 14, 2012

I have a navigation menu. Right now, when you hover over a menu item an image flies over the top of it. This image is set in my CSS as "nav li em". However, that image flies in to the same spot for every menu item. This is what I would like: When you hover over Item 2, em2 is invoked for the FlyIn. When you hover over Item 3, em3 is invoked.

Here is my code:

$(document).ready(function () {
$("#nav a").append("<em></em>");
$("#nav a").hover(function () {
$(this).find("em").animate({ opacity: "show", top: "-34"}, "fast");
var hoverText = $(this).attr("title");
$(this).find("em").text(hoverText); .....

Display Value Of A Variable Inline?

Dec 8, 2011

On my site there is information that changes several times a year and I want to make it a lot easier by having it change on all my pages at once. For instance the delivery time may change from 1 week to 2 weeks depending on the time of year. What I've come up with so far should work, but I don't know how to finish it, or if it's the best approach for my problem.

Since the sections I want to change frequently may have a bit of text I would link the template of my site to the external JavaScript file external.js. In that file I would declare the variable and assign it a value related to the shipping time (see below). code...

Linked To The Previous Content Instead Of Navigation?

Aug 11, 2010

I have a real-estate site of a client's and it has a big bug which is beyond my scripting skills.The user submits a search form and is shown the results of the property's (houses). They then click on the desired house and are taken to the page which the relevant content. All good.Then they use the browser back button, as everybody does, and is taken back to the search results, page 1 of results, or page n ofBUTIf the user selects another page of results from the navigation e.g. [1] [2] [3]instead of directing the user to the page n of results page, the user is taken to the last viewed property (house) page.I know alot of you must be thinking its me incorrectly scripting...but the wierd thing is that this bug only occurs in FF and doesn't occur in IE...(only checked 8).It's doing my tits in and my client is making an issue of it. BTW I'm using VBscript aswell to insert variables (pageID).

Dynamically Resize A Navigation Div - That Is Present On Every Page - According To Size Of Main Content Div

Apr 29, 2010

I am currently trying to use Javascript to dynamically resize a navigation div (that is present on every page) according to the size of the main content div.

I am currently using the following code;

Code:

This works the first time I go to the site and if I refresh a page. However, if I use my on site navigation to switch between pages the div simply uses the height variable defined within my CSS (this needs to be here for users with JS disabled)

Does anybody have any ideas on what the problem might be. It's as if the script is only executed the first time any page on the site is loaded, but then not again.

JQuery :: Effects Like SlideDown() That Leave Display Set To "inline"?

Sep 3, 2009

The online documentation for "slideDown" and "slideUp" says that only the height is affected by those routines. That claim is false: the value of "display" is also changed, and for me that's a problem. I have a div that's set up with "position: absolute" and "display:inline". I want that box to appear in the layout relative to its surrounding content, and that's the simplest way I know to do
that. I also want the box to be animated. I do not, however, want jQuery to touch my "display" alue, because setting it to "block" reaks the layout completely. Looking at the (not trivial to understand) code, it *appears* that the original value of the "display" attribute is saved, or rather that the code attempts to save it. However, that's not working for me: my divis definitely display:inline to start off, but a call to "slideUp" or "slideDown" always leaves it either "display: none" or "display:
block".

JQuery :: Best Way To Design / Create Slideshow For Images / Video And Content?

I wanted to start my research on the topic of slideshows here and ask if anyone knows what's the best method for creating a slideshow that should have the ability to display images and videos (and bookmark them)? It can be a plug-in, but this is for a client so it has to be okay for commercial use (and free).It should also be able to support other content like ads and polls/questionaires, in the form of a div. Also HTML 5 compatible with all the cross-browser compatibility one would expect.
