JQuery :: Effects Like SlideDown() That Leave Display Set To "inline"?
Sep 3, 2009
The online documentation for "slideDown" and "slideUp" says that only the height is affected by those routines. That claim is false: the value of "display" is also changed, and for me that's a problem. I have a div that's set up with "position: absolute" and "display:inline". I want that box to appear in the layout relative to its surrounding content, and that's the simplest way I know to do
that. I also want the box to be animated. I do not, however, want jQuery to touch my "display" alue, because setting it to "block" reaks the layout completely. Looking at the (not trivial to understand) code, it *appears* that the original value of the "display" attribute is saved, or rather that the code attempts to save it. However, that's not working for me: my divis definitely display:inline to start off, but a call to "slideUp" or "slideDown" always leaves it either "display: none" or "display:
block".
Not a huge issue, more of an annoyance, but when firing
Code: Effect.Appear('whatever');
it only works when
Code: display:block;
is an inline style on the target element and not when it's applied via an external style sheet. Is there a fix for this or is it just a quirk of the library?
I have a form with some yes/no radio boxes if a box is checked I want it to display another field and I've built a function to do this. It will slideDown() on yes but it will not slideUp() on no. however it will hide() on no.
On my site there is information that changes several times a year and I want to make it a lot easier by having it change on all my pages at once. For instance the delivery time may change from 1 week to 2 weeks depending on the time of year. What I've come up with so far should work, but I don't know how to finish it, or if it's the best approach for my problem.
Since the sections I want to change frequently may have a bit of text I would link the template of my site to the external JavaScript file external.js. In that file I would declare the variable and assign it a value related to the shipping time (see below). code...
I have following HTML code: <br/> <div style="display:none">.....</div> <div style="display:none">.....</div> How can I modify display to block in style attribute with Javascript?
I'm having an issue in that when I display:inline a DIV onClick, the DIV is not expanding to the width specified in the stylesheet. Similarly, my TDs would not use their colspan attribute.
I am using javascripts in my index page. For navigation hovering, slideshow and the other one is for displaying inline content in a form of a lightbox. But the problem is they cant seem to work together. i have to remove the inline content JavaScript for the slideshow and navigation hovering JavaScript to work. All of them are in the header. I want to merge all these together so that they all work.
Navigation hover javascript: <script type="text/javascript"> function MM_swapImgRestore() { //v3.0 var i,x,a=document.MM_sr; for(i=0;a&&i<a.length&&(x=a[i])&&x.oSrc;i++) x.src=x.oSrc; }function MM_preloadImages() { //v3.0 var d=document; if(d.images){ if(!d.MM_p) d.MM_p=new Array(); var i,j=d.MM_p.length,a=MM_preloadImages.arguments; for(i=0; i<a.length; i++) [Code] .....
to users input? And, just to be clear, I don't mean to CMS stuff. For example: let's imagine I want to make script that every enrolled number multiplies by 2 (I don't know if it's common for jQuery to do this, but it is just an example). User need to enroll number, let's say, in some bar, or little window that displays on screen. So, that is what I mean by open for user. Script interact with user textual information.How to leave script open for users inf.I mean, this is very often thing in various scripts like form validation, contact email forms etc. In fact, I am typing this in something like that
Here is a small page I made to get familiar with it: [URL] when mouse cursor is located above the middle of the height of the button image, javascript is looping while sending mouseenter and mouseleave events. When the mouse cursor is below the middle of the height of the button image,
why this code doesn't work in IE but is fine in firefox? The big image that appears when the image item is hovered over comes up in the imagewrap but doesn't disappear on mouse leave, in IE
I want to change a db record when the user leave the website. I have this PHP script: <?php require_once("../config.inc.php"); if (isset($_POST["user"]) && isset($_POST["ip_address"])){ $query = 'UPDATE users SET logged = 0 WHEREuser= "' . $_POST["user"] . '" AND ip_address = "' . $_POST["ip_address"] . '" AND confirmed = 1;'; mysql_query($query, DB_LINK); } ?>
And this jQuery script: // script da includere in tutti i file delle pagine per l'utente loggato // cambia lo stato dell'utente da loggato a non-loggato quando viene chiusa la finestra del browser $(window).unload(function(){ $.ajax(AJAX_PATH + "logout.php", {type: "POST", data: "user=" + escape(USER) + "&ip_address=" + escape(IP_ADDRESS), success: function(){alert("Arrivederci!"); return true;}}); }); but it doesn't seem to work.
I'm using superfish for a drop down hover menu. It works perfect except I would like the sub menus to remain visible when one of the <a> tag from the menu has class="active". Here is a quick overview of the menu html:
If the current page is main -- class='active' is automatically added to the A tag (with Drupal). If you are currently in page2, the class='active' is added to the A tag of the sub-menu. Now, how can I get the sub menu to be always displayed -- regardless of superfish, either when item parent 1 A tag is set as class='active'of the item child A tag is set as class='active'.
JQuery and I have a function which adds an image to a link depending on the file type.
How to write a statement that says....if there is no file extension - leave the default styling, if not add file extension. At the moment I have dots and images..see here [url]
Banging my head against the wall here. I got a very simple script, 3 lines of code and trying to do one of the most basic things in jQuery, slideDown().
I have several divs that animate from the left when clicked on the appropriate button in the menu, all works well but I want the div to be about 10px in height when it moves to the right hand side of the screen then slide down to it's full height (351px). I can figure out a slidedown on it's own but can't work out how to combine both.[URL]
jQuery Code
(function($){ $.hideAllExcept = function(tabs,boxes){ function init() {
Once the signuppanel goes away and comes back, the formatting of the text in the panel is lost. The bold property of the font is lost. How come does it happen and how can it be avoided?
I am trying to slideUp a container Div and using the slideUp'scallback parameter call slideDown on a different element that is notinside the slideUp container Div:
I developed my site using IE 8, and had no problems. However, after incorporating jQuery into my site, I found that it did not work with Firefox . Please tell me what I need to do fix it for FF
first of all I find it quite hard to find the right words for what I'm trying to achieve. I want the slidedown/slideup to do exactly the same but flipped 180°. A collapsed container should inflate up and not down.
At the moment I am playing with jQuery a bit. Is it possible to get the same effect like the following one from Mootools with jQuery? Mootools: When using jQuerys slideDown effect you don't get exactly the same. On jQuery when you slide down some text. The text doesn't get created befor it slides in. (well it looks like that)
I have a set up that uses slideDown on a division that is housing a table, and it's height in no explicitly set. In Firefox, slideDown() will slide too far, then jump back to where it should be. In Chrome, this behavior does not happen. I do not want to set a static height, as the contents are dynamically set.
Is there a reason for this issue, and can it be fixed?
