Not Able To Navigate To Next Page On Using XMLhttprequest / Enable This?
Mar 29, 2009
I am using Xmlhttprequest object and checking for the onreadystate event and calling a function(), this is called for every 1 sec using the setTimeout method, this works perfectly but using this does not allow to navigate to the next page by clicking the next button in the page.
How can I use a pop-up page to navigate the parent page?
For instance, on my homepage, I have something like "Click here to choose your location". This should open up a page, with a list of option that I can choose to navigate the homepage!
I am wondering if Jquery can navigate to a specific page marker from the url? For exampleCan i test the url to see if it has the #... added and then use that number to navigate to an appropriate page marker?
I have a script that will alert a message if the user navigates away from the page. I just need to EXCLUDE the event of submittiing the form. If they submit the form, allow them to - without alerting the message.the code:
Code: <script language="JavaScript"> var needToConfirm = true; window.onbeforeunload = confirmExit;[code]....
I know i have to make it return false, but whats the best way?
I am using a very simple search-type page to enable users to input a model number and its page appears in a inline frame. Its not a true search as it is simply relying on a person entering the correct html page name to find it. But this works perfectly in my application.The problem I have is that I cannot get the type box to accept enter key as a submitt, only a click of the mouse will submitt the request. If enter is pressed the box loses the users input but no action is taken.I think this may be a javascript issue. I have posted the code below.
I'm making a somewhat unusual web page that will feature a showroom (this showroom will have images/video/qtvr/etc). If a pre-determined user comes to the page and views the showroom, I am essentially controlling it on my end by changing the database. The page needs to check the database every 2 seconds and refresh if the database value is different from what it currently is. The issue with using iframes or a meta refresh is that if a video is loaded, it will never play, because the page will always be refreshing.
So, that is where the XMLHttpRequest function comes in. I believe I have all of the basic code completed, but it of course does not work and I am probably missing something really simple or perhaps my approach is off. Code:
I am currently learning AJAX, and I want to write an simple example program (it is only for practice, it has no real meaning).
The program sends request to to PHP and gets response from it, then it should write the response using message box, all should happen on page load. I wrote the following code:
function init(){ myRequst = new XMLHttpRequest(); var url = "http://localhost/dummy.php"; myRequst.open("GET",url,false);
[Code]....
I don't see any message box when the page loads. When using it after the page loaded with other events (not onLoad), it works and I see the message box with the response.
How can I get the data on page load using XMLHttpRequest?
I am trying to use xmlhttprequest to make my aspx page more interactive.
its a page with a slideshow where the user can rate the pic, send a comment of this pics and other stuff... when the user rate or comment a pic, the server side script works properly, but when im going to work with the response (xmlhttprequestObject.responseXML), it all screw up...
Opening IE displays the following code fine. When I open a new window the code no longer works. All the HTML is overwritten with the first document.write statement.
This code pulls XML from a web site then parses it into a dynamically created table built with javascript. The write table is not working correctly, other methods work fine. This code also locks up Fire Fox to where it doesn't stop loading the page. Code:
I'm looking for something that can display a PDF in a way similar to a typical jQuery image gallery (or a desktop PDF viewer, e.g. Acrobat or Preview). I tried out Mike Alsup's jQuery Media Plugin [URL], thinking that the "iframe player" might do the trick. But of course, I still get the default browser behavior for a PDF, which in most cases (like Firefox) is to not display it at all. Works great in Safari, though, especially with the AdobePDFViewer.plugin. So does anyone know of something that could enable PDFs to be displayed on the page?
I'm wondering if it's possible for a script to enable/disable all input elements on the page with some sort of toggle button. I googled it but didn't find anything too useful except for this: [URL] but I'm not sure how to edit it for the toggle.
I have written the following script which enables/disables checkboxes on my page when a radio button is selected.[code] What I would like to do is create another function called checkval() like below, which will check the value of my radio button (id: email_alerts). If the value is equal to "on" then it will run enableCheckboxes().
I have done some research and cannot find anything appropriate. I would like to be able to navigate up and down the inside of a div (selecting A Tags) and directing to them when the user presses 'Enter'.
Effectively need a function that records the up and down arrows and the enter key. It is for an autocomplete, I know there are jQuery things for this but I do not want to use jQuery! I need it to be fully browser compatible.
I need to do an application similar with google maps but using jquery. i need to navigate into a set of images using left/right/up/down and zoom in/out. Do you have any idea about how can I do that? A link, tutorial , anything is useful.
I am writing an MVC ASP.NET based website, and I want to create a ActionLink that deletes the current entity. For search engine reasons, I don't want this link to be able to be followed (else all my data is gone!), unless a user, via jQuery, confirms the action. For the confirmation, I can use something like:
[html] <a href="" id="delete">Delete this entity</a> [js] $( function() {
[Code]....
What is the best way to do this? Should I submita form or is there a navigate method that I missed?
I am trying to put on my homepage a dropdown list of 4 options where each option would bring you to a different page on my website.which I built in Dreamweaver.What I would like it to do is when the user clicks on an option, it brings them to one of the pages on my site.
I just create a neat little AJAX google suggest style drop down, using a scrollable DIV which contains a table, now the user wants to be able to use the arrow keys to navigate the table.
Does anyone know how to do this or know of an example / tutorial on how to do this? Each row and cell has it's own unique ID.
I've added a scroll script to my site which changes the scroll to just a black box in a grey rectangle. When the page is visited it doesn't show but once you either refresh or navigate through the pages it appears. I'm pretty much clueless about js so don't even know where to start with fixing this. Here's a link [URL]. I would post code but once again, not sure which part I'm dealing with so not sure what to post. If you need code let me know and I will provide it.
I am wondering if it is possible to navigate anchor links using a button onclick event. I want next and previous hit buttons to navigate the already existing hits (#hit1, #hit2, etc.).For instance, I have:
<script type="text/javascript"> var numHits = {HITS}-1; function nextHit(){[code]....
I have seen working examples with the href tag (e.g. <a href="#" onclick="func();return false">), but nothing with buttons. I also can't seem to get the working href examples to work on my server.For instance, I cannot get this code to work, it just goes to js_required.html:
<a href="js_required.html" onclick="doSomething(); return false;">go</a> function doSomething(){ alert("test"); }
A client would like me to implement spreadsheet-style form traversal using the arrow keys on a keyboard, i.e. left arrow would submit the entry for that field and then move left by one field on the form.
The form is managed by my PHP code. Does anyone have a browser-independent method of doing this please?
All input fields in the form are single line text fields.
I have just written some jQuery code that had to navigate to a parent sibling then 3rd child. My code was $(this).parent().next('ul').children('li').children('span').children('input').attr('checked', 'checked'); Is there any way to optimize this I thought this would work $(this).parent().next('ul').children('li span input').attr('checked', 'checked');
