More Than One Submit To Set A Redirect Variable With PHP
Jul 23, 2005
I have a series of pages which make up a questionnaire. It's all done
in PHP and I'd like to have two submit buttons (well, images really) so
that one submits the form and takes them to the next page, the other
submits the form and takes them to the previous page.
The redirect value is set using PHP so I'd like some Javascript to set
that variable, then submit the form so that I can accomplish this
requirement.
Is this possible? I know Javascript can submit a form, and also can
send a variable to a PHP script, but I'm not sure how to do this
combination.

I am trying to make form in dreamweaver with several text boxes. If the person doesn't fill out one or more of the boxes, I want an error message to come up which lists which boxes weren't filled out. If they ARE filled correctly, I want the page to redirect to a thanks page.This isn't online, and I'm new to coding. But its going ok, I just can't get the form to validate AND redirect if return true (or something???). I don't know how to do that. I've tried googling it, searching youtube tutes, and reading a few javascript books, but no joy.[code]

I'm using Gravity forms for a fancybox popup here- hit the 'JOIN' button and you'll see the popup. What I need to do is close the popup when the submit button is hit and then redirect the parent page to a specific url. I cannot wrap the submit button itself in a link because I'm using Gravity Forms. Is there another way to do this?

I am attempting to redirect a page after a user clicks on a submit button.I have a button:
<input id="SubmitButton" type="submit" class="button" name="-Edit" value="Submit" onClick="toSubmitted();"
And a function:
function toSubmitted() {
document.myForm.action = some URL that has to do with a Filemaker Pro backend.
document.myForm.submit();
window.location = "www.google.com";
}
Supposed to submit myForm, which sends necessary data to the FileMaker backend, and then I am wanting to redirect to a new page immediately after that.
The "window.location = "www.google.com";" line does not seem to function in its present location.

This is my first adventure into PHP/Ajax/MySql/Javascript and is pretty much my first web project. I've been trying to tackle this problem for a little over a week now. My main objective is that I want to display php content pages inside a div on the index page without refreshing the page (iframe style). I don't want to stop search engines indexing the individual pages so I need a mechanism to redirect to the index page so that the page is displayed properly. I'm not bothered if it takes them to the exact page and I'm redirecting them to the section of the site where they the page is kept.
I also want a mechanism to redirect if a second search engine link is clicked that belongs to the individual page (ie image links that belong to the same page). This is only a problem because the php session has already been opened and a php variable has been set by the first redirect. All the redirections are taken care of by PHP and I got the redirection of multiple instances working ok by setting and unsetting session variables. This PHP code is included on every content page.
But, when I added links to the index page and try to navigate between pages, it all goes pear-shaped.When the links are clicked it calls up the Javascript code, inside which a PHP variable is set (I dunno if this is the "done" thing, but I came across the solution somewhere on the Interweb). This is the first thing checked when the content pages are called up. If the variable isn't set, then it runs through the redirect options.
The problem is that after clicking the link when the page displays it always refreshes the index page which I don't want it to do and which is why I'm thinking it's the setting of the PHP variable inside the Javascript that's going wrong. (Also why this question ended up in this section). Is there any way of getting this going without passing the variable into the url (not that I'm against this option)? Index page code, PHP Code (before HTML)...
Code:
<?php
if(!isset($_SESSION))
{
session_start();
}
// set the session var to the index page url which I think remains until browser close
$_SESSION['pagecheck'] = "http://".$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'];
// set the section var if it hasn't already been set by one of the content pages
if(isset($_SESSION['sectNum'])!= "undefined")
{
$_SESSION['sectNum'] = "0";
}
function getSection() .....
Additionally, are there any potential security threats that should be tackled (bearing in mind that I don't want to use cookies, I'm not against this either but decided if they are switched of it may become an issue, and I'm not going to be handling any sensitive information). I really don't want to use Iframes due to any javascript switching off related problems (yes there is a javascript testing function included in my full code!).

I have a page that submits a form via javascript; however, I wish to submit a variable form name, depending on what button is pressed.
So, pressing button 1 will submit frmGeneral1
Pressing button 2 will submit frmGeneral2
pressing button 3 will submit frmGeneral3 and so on
In my javascript, I have:
And I get an error stating object doesn't support this property or method.
The PrimaryKey is a variable passed to my Validate function, which is what is used to define each form on the page (the page could contain up to 500 forms)
Here is my full javascript code:

I need to send form variable to a lightbox. What this page suppose to do is user will insert his ID, click Papar ~Display in English, the page will refresh and his examination result will be output in the lightbox. More information on my test page here: [URL] paste 158756873427 into the form and click Papar. That lightbox popup is a remote file so I can paste mysql query in it. Also its not working actually.
I already set the query manually like this:
PHP Code:
$result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM exam_data WHERE no_KP='158756873427'");
What I need is the form from infopendidikan.php to send its variable to the lightbox remote page resultpopup.php. Also you can click on the query popup on the left menu to see the fixed query. resultpopup.php need to retrieve variable from infopendidikan.php.
Anyway this is infopendidikan.php code:
PHP Code:
<?php
//if the "submit"variable does not exist form has not been submitted display initial page
if (!$_POST['submit'])
{ ?> .....
If I can get the result in the lightbox without page refresh that will be more cool. The lightbox I'm using is facebox from [URL].

Can I pass a javascript variable to another page without submit the form? I have page1 with the selection and some links. I would like the user to select it without submitting a form, but I can get it from another page when clicking on the link. So I would think about the onChange function may help, but don't know how.
<form name="form">
<select name="list" onChange="somefunction()">
<option value="1">option 1</option>
<option value="2">option 2</option>
<option value="3">option 3</option>
</select>
</form>
<a href="http://somedomain/myurl.asp&option='valueTheUserPick'">click here</a>

I want to be able to open a window with a variable. For example, I will use domain.com?reference=1234- This link will open a pop up window as follows:
<a href="javascript:popUp('http://www.domain.co.uk/staff/tpr/update_action_log.php?action_reference=<?php echo $row2['action_reference']; ?>')" title="Click Here edit this entry"><?php echo $row2['action_reference']; ?></a>
When I open this window, it is always showing data put in last, it isnt refreshed. I wanted to open this pop up window, enter data and then click submit and make the data enter the database and then refresh the parent window. Every time I have done this, either the parent or the pop (or both) is showing old data.

What I need to do is to pass a conditional variable to the target URL,
when the form is submitted, depending on which graphic button is pressed.
So, the form already sends several variables when the form is submitted
(at the onclick event). I've confirmed this by capturing the HTTP POST
variables and displaying them when the page executes.
Now, depending on which graphic button is selected, I would like to pass
another variable.
For example, when the Create button is pressed, I would like to pass
create=true (or something signifying that 'create' is set) to the target
URL......

In the following .submit function, I am attempting to grab the value of the selected option in the facilityCodes dropdown list when I click the submit button and then during the submit function,select the facilityCode again in the dropdown list when the page reloads and then disable the list so that the user cannot change it.However,the situation is when I reload the page after the submit button is clicked the dropdown defaults to the first option and the list is enabled.I apparently am not understanding how.submit works so that I'm selecting the option I'm defining in my code below and then disabling the list AFTER the page reloads due to an error on the page. My question is how can I accomplish this?Here is my code:

I have a page with many forms that I need to change from a post to an ajax call. That part is working, no problem, but now I want to disable the submit button while it's waiting on the server response and then re-enable it when the response comes back.
Here's what I have:
$(function() {
$('form').each(function() {
$(this).submit(function(){
[code]...
I can't figure out what my selector should be to get the submit button of the form that's being submitted. What should I be using instead? Also, if the call errors out, I'd like to just post the form as usual.

I have a form without a submit button. It gets submitted programmatically with document.form.submit().
What I need is to be able to disable this form's submit capability on page load and then reenable it at some later point. Remember there is no 'input' button element.
Code:
What I've tried so far is like this:
savedSubmit = document.inputs.submit;
document.inputs.submit = None;
then later:
document.inputs.submit = savedSubmit;
but this does not work. How can I do this?
