Form Validation Validate And Redirect On Submit Thanks Page
Nov 16, 2011
I am trying to make form in dreamweaver with several text boxes. If the person doesn't fill out one or more of the boxes, I want an error message to come up which lists which boxes weren't filled out. If they ARE filled correctly, I want the page to redirect to a thanks page. This isn't online, and I'm new to coding. But its going ok, I just can't get the form to validate AND redirect if return true (or something???). I don't know how to do that. I've tried googling it, searching youtube tutes, and reading a few javascript books, but no joy.[code]
I have a simple html form and i have a small piece of script which validates it,I would like it so that after the validation is carried out, if the return value is true, then the user will be redirected to index.html i have tried several pieces of code to the end of my validation script but i cant get the page to change Here is my javascript code
function validate_form ( ) { var illegalChars= /[()<>,;:\/"[]]/; valid = true;
Using : jQuery Validate (jQuery Validation Plugin 1.8.0)
Browser : IE 8
Code :
Problem: The live('submit).. code fires before the validation does. So, validation never actually stops the form submitting. In other browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari), this is not a problem, validation always fires first.
I have recently downloaded the jQuery Validation Plugin, and I want to use the bottom part of the demo [url] (Validating a Complete Form) and I have some questions to ask:
1. I want the validation to work after the user clicked "Submit"
2. If a column is wrong (username already taken or password length invalid) I want not only error message but also a picture in front of the error message.
3. I hope that after the user clicks "Submit" and then found a column is wrong then correct it, after the user corrected it and click to other place or other column the validator starts again to check the column the user just edited whether the user just corrected a wrong column or edited a correct column into error.
4. I hope to display a image in right of the column if that column is correct after the validator works.
About the jquery Validation plugin. I need to lock the submit button on some forms to prevent multiple submissions, but I don't want to permanently lock it, in case there's a validation problem that the user needs to resolve. I did come up with a way to temporarily lock it and change the text to "Saving, Please Wait..." for a few seconds, then revert it to an unlocked submit button.
The problem I'm having is that this conflicts somehow with the jquery validation plugin. Some fields that have error messages if the user attempts to submit the form with missing data. If I use the temporary locking submit button (which uses an animation to create a duration) then these error messages do not display.
Is it possible to test for a validation value in a separate function before running this lock function? If valid, lock, if not valid, don't lock, because it isn't possible to submit an invalid form anyway. I tried wrapping the locking submit function in a setTimeout, but that didn't have any effect at all in delaying it.
I have a form with multiple fieldsets which are visible conditionally. There are three submit buttons "Abandon", "Save" and "Save & Continue". Each button should validate specific controls of the form and submit it. I tried setting "onsubmit: false" and checking for "$('#myForm').valid ()" on click of these buttons., but that validates all controls of the form.
I'm using the Validation plugin for JQuery and was wondering if there was a function to submit the form without causing it to validate the form. I have a table with a list of radio-buttons and above that is a drop down list of states. The drop down list of states is used to filter the table rows and when the selected item changes it posts-back to the server (via $("#frm").submit()). I don't want this to cause any validation to occur. Is there another function I can call besides submit(), or some other method?
I want to redirect a page to another page in JSP after a certain validation has been done using AJAX. If the validation is done it should redirect the user to another page but if validation is not done then it should remain on the same page.
I'm using Gravity forms for a fancybox popup here- hit the 'JOIN' button and you'll see the popup. What I need to do is close the popup when the submit button is hit and then redirect the parent page to a specific url. I cannot wrap the submit button itself in a link because I'm using Gravity Forms. Is there another way to do this?
function toSubmitted() { document.myForm.action = some URL that has to do with a Filemaker Pro backend. document.myForm.submit(); window.location = "www.google.com"; }
Supposed to submit myForm, which sends necessary data to the FileMaker backend, and then I am wanting to redirect to a new page immediately after that.
The "window.location = "www.google.com";" line does not seem to function in its present location.
I have a form built and on the onclick event I validate all of the fields and then if the form is ok, on the submit event I run a javascript function to set a cookie and download a file from the current window.
I have a cgi script provided by my web host to send the contents of the form through email but they only show me how to use the cgi script to send email through the submit event of the form.
I've many dynamic form on my current project. One if them have a two radio button, acting a little bit like tabs. If you select the first radio, the end of the form change to display the "branche #1", and if you select the second radio button, the end of the form change to display the "branche #2".
Let recap with dummy code:
And now I will have to make 3 validations:
1) The first one for the common field.
2) The second one, if buyer is selected.
3) The third one, if seller is selected.
So the code should look like:
But is seem that only my common fields get validated. How should I handle that situation ?
I have written a form in HTML which contains username, lastname, email, password and submit.I have written a javascript to validate this form [validate(username, lastname,,password)].On submit this javascript function will be called and hence form get validated. I am passing all the arguements(username, lastname, email and password) to the javascript function..Is it possible to make me a code such that it should call an individual function for each field in the form.for ex:if i have not entered username, last name in the form and attempt to submit, only username arguement should be passed to the function as it comes first in the form.In other sense i want to validate individual text field validation of my form.
I've literally tried everything. Read 26 tutorials, interchanged code, etc. My validation functions all work. My AJAX functions work (tested manually using servlet URL's). The second servlet validates the reCaptcha form that's generated on my webpage. After the form is validated, even if everything's correct, nothing happens upon clicking submit. I even have an alert pop up if with the captcha result, just for middle-layer debugging purposes.
I want to do all of my validation clientside; none serverside. However, going to be tough if I can't get my god damn form to submit. I've been puzzled by this for close to 36 hours straight. I can't see, and I'm going to get some rest and hope that there is some useful insight on my problem when I return.
'm new with JQuery and more especially withthe validation plugin. and implementedthe validation plugin for the newsletter formIf you look at the bottom right corner, you can try to enter a datainto the input field.... but as soon as you type one character afterthe "." (that follows the domain) the whole page disappear...I can't understand what's happening
I'm trying to validate a form with on submit if statement, unfortunately this code only pops up platenum label or motornum label depending on which is filled, but if both are not filled, it only shows one.
I need to set up a form that once submitted opens a window thats 550x400. The form needs to be validated first however. I used an onClick event on the submit button but that opens the window regardless whether a user filled it out or not.
I hope this is the right place for my question. I have a working form and all iss great using this jQuery Form Validation PlugIn from brassistance. Now I got in trouble by having a Form which will get extended by user inputs. To explan in detail: I have a Form with static fields and so on. But then if the User selects in the form the amount of Persons, I append Name and Surename Text Fileds to the static form and give the form fileds dynamically generated names. now have the problem to validate the dynamically generated text fields in that form!
I am trying to find a particular tutorial on the web that I used to create a REALLY simple script that made use of jquery.form and jquery.validate.
The script would use the simple validate command to validate inline, then when submitted, a loading graphic would appear, call upon the php script referenced in the form action, process, then spit out a message on the same page without any refresh.
I have a few questions about modifying it..
Here's the script.. noting that Im also calling jquery.validate and jquery.form:
I would like to have the message that appears, to fade out after being displayed for 5 seconds. I don't know how or where to add the fadeout command in the function above.
I am trying to use jquery: validation plugin by Jörn Zaefferer. Which works really well I have to say. The one limitation I am trying to work around is how I can run validation for required fields before I submit a form. At the moment I have to submit the form before I see the error messages for required fields I would like to see them prior as the user tabs through the form.
I am beginner inthe programming , & I am trying to apply validation for different fields of a form, so that a user can get alert messages instantly at the time of mistake as if any form fields are empty or any Invalid values are entered. My validation is not working systematically & properly, the alert messages hangs the data entering process & some fields does not throw any alert messages & the process jumps over the remaining empty fields. Here is my code:-
I am pretty comfortable with jQuery and the validation plugin as well.
I am having an issue where:
User clicks a button it opens a lightbox (I am using Fancybox) - a form appears inside the modal. The data is submitted via AJAX and I am trying to validate the form before the form within the lightbox is submitted.
My button with the click handler right now does a GET to a server to send the data. Along with some other JavaScript. What is the best way for me to validate my form within a lightbox, and submit after it validates. Sending AJAX.
I have a form with multiple submit buttons. <form action="" id="myForm" method="post"> <fieldset> <!-- various input fields --> <button type="submit" name="Exit">Exit</button> <button type="submit" name="SaveExit">Save & Exit</button> <button type="submit" name="Save">Save</button> </fieldset> </form> When the SaveExit or Save buttons are clicked, the form is to be validated. When the Exit button is clicked, the form is NOT to be validated. How can I do this with the Validate Plugin 1.7 from [URL]. Is this possible?
Goal 1: display errors above the form on same page
Goal 2: direct users to a new thankyou page when form is submitted.
The form uses ajax. I am able to get it to work with the error messages displaying correctly but as is, the thankyou message also displays in the same spot and the form is left filled out. I need it to direct to a new page I designed for the purpose.
