I am trying to find and get the current index in a group of elements like so:
var index = $(attribute).index(this);
However, this returns -1 for all selectors I pass to it in the variable. Why is this? Is there another way to find a div's position within its container easily?
I have created a little script that is supposed to add another item to a radio group and set the new item as selected if none of the other items is selected. It works on initial load of page, but if I press refresh, the checked value of the radio group shifts one place to the right on each reload.[code]The code has some special names and labels.. Thats just because it comes from some generated code from another application.

I'm trying to find the currently clicked index of .accordion_trigger from within another element.
When inside the .accordion_trigger click event I can simply do the below to get the current clicked index:

Obviously this doesn't work when called from within another element. I understand that 'this' is part of the problem but can't seem to find a way to form the code in such a way for it to produce a valid result. Thus far I only get -1 or 0.
When .accordion_trigger is clicked it has an "$(this).toggleClass('active').next().slideDown();" applied so in theory I shold be able to search for which of the .accordion_trigger's are "active".
I've also tried doing this via the below method but to no avail:

I'm not sure if I'm using the wrong keywords or what, but I'm not having much success finding a way to make the following happen:
I have a form that asks for a bunch of information. First it's name, etc... Then it asks for vehicle information: The code for that is this:

So, what I want to happen is that there is an add vehicle link or button so that when someone hits it, it allows them to add in another vehicle. Of course it should also add some index to the id's of all the inputs as I will use the post data to add the vehicles to a database.
Now at first I thought I had found a solution, that works a little bit. But then when the PHP comes into effect things break.
Also, this is an aside: the truck vin row is controlled by jquery now. If the plan type selected is for a truck, it will show that row, if it's not then that row is hidden. I'm pretty sure I'll need to build a loop in the Jquery script that will allow that hide and show feature to work based on the index added to the truck row.
in my searching, the only thing I've really been able to find is that I might have to use AJAX, but that's not something I familiar with just yet.
I want to get jQuery to group 3 paragraphs with a div.The last div will simply contain the remainder number of paragraphs.

I have used the feature of setting a class on the current menu item so that it will be highlighted (highlit?). The trouble is that if the menu item has a submenu this submenu is displaying already opened when you hit the page.
I've set the menus up with the following options:

I'm trying to create a group of radio buttons that enable user to select whether to maintain the current image, remove the image or upload a new image. If user selects maintain the current image or remove the image, the upload field will be disabled, when user select upload a new image, the upload field will be enable. In the following script all works fine except the "Remove all items".It adds and removes individual elements fine, but when I call the dropElems() function it removes up to the last 2. If I click it again, it removes only one.Finally, pressing one more time does remove all.I'm calling the same function to remove one element multiple times to remove all the elements, but it seems to stop short of the actual desired action.[code]

I would like to change this so that the class is removed from the item I have just moused out of instead of specifying the exact item. This is so I can use this function for multiple items. I tried replacing the '.bar8' with 'this' but it didn't work.
Currently I'm trying to create a menu with a mouseover effect on a link, which causes an image to display. All images are positioned on the same place, so the optical effect is that one image changes all the time. To achieve this I created an unordered list with the links / items in it, and I created a div with the (corresponding) images. On a mouseover event over a link, the index number of the current li element is stored in a variable, and I want to use that variable to select the corresponding image.
(So <li> index:2 corresponds to <img> index:2)
So in 'human language':
on mouseover of li {
var indexNumber = li.indexnumber
change class of img[indexNumber]
}
But I can't get it to work. I managed to store the 'current' indexnumber successfully in a variable:
var indexNumber = $("li").index(this);
But I can't use the variable to select the corresponding <img> I tried:
$('.slidemenuImgbox img:eq(indexNumber)').addClass('slidemenu_show');
But nothing happens
However when I do:
$('.slidemenuImgbox img:eq(1)').addClass('slidemenu_show');
The image with index:1 is changed.

I'm trying to apply the "selected" or "selected="selected" attribute to items that are chosen from the menu. I have a small script which adds a class to the current menu item selected.
Currently on the page load (this menu is within one page) the first menu item which is loaded does not have this .mywork_active class. Its not until you click it or another item that the class is added.
What would I need to do make the script add this class to the first item on load.

I'm attempting to physically change the index order of the elements returned by a selector.For example, I'm attempting to make it so when someone clicks on a button, it swaps the index position of the element above or below it (depending on which button they press).I tried to assign it using something like $('.draggable :eq(2)').attr('index', 3)But it didn't seem to work. Is there a way to do it using jQuery, or do I have to change it within DOM itself? Or is there another way to do it?
