JQuery :: Wrap <a> Tags Around Text In <li> Elements - Get The Index Of The <li> In The <ul>?
Feb 3, 2010
I am trying to wrap <a> tags around text in <li> elements. How can I get the index of the <li> in the <ul>? I tried something like this: $('.tabbed-list li').wrapInner('<a></a>'); That works fine. However, I want to do something like this: $(this).wrapInner('<a href="#' + $(this).index() + '"></a>');
im trying to get the syntax down to find all img tags that are NOT surrounded by tags and wrap those img tags in tags. I can get the selector to get all img tags and wrap it in a tag but i need to further take it to disregard the img tags that already are wrapped in pseudocode $(img parent tag not equal to p).each().....
How do I wrap repeated sets of [ <h3> followed by other tags ] in a div?
example: <h3> <ul><li> <h3>
I want to wrap everything between the lines in a single [ <div class="test"</div> ] ? The # of tags in between the lines ( i.e. # of tags following <h3> ) will vary after each <h3> tag.
<li>This header of sublist <ul><li>item1</li> <li>header of subsublist
[code].....
Now I would like to wrap the text and only the text (i.e. 'This header of sublist', 'item 1', 'header of subsublist','item2.1') in a <span> tag. I tried $('li', his).wrapInner('<span class="test"></span>') but that includes the ul element as well, which I would like to exclude.regards,
[URL]..I want to wrap some html code to user's selected text inside the textarea, I tried the code in above url but it seems not work in IE, is there a plugin of any way to make it work?
How can I wrap text inside a select box? or perhaps I could allow the select box to flow over the div its in. That might actually be better now that I think of it :)
Using the jquery cycle code to display fade images in exactly as the demo shows. So far, so good.But, I want to add some 'static' text that doesn't fade with the images and will 'wrap' around those images. So, I want the images on the left and some text on theiright which will wrap around the images.
Currently I'm trying to create a menu with a mouseover effect on a link, which causes an image to display. All images are positioned on the same place, so the optical effect is that one image changes all the time. To achieve this I created an unordered list with the links / items in it, and I created a div with the (corresponding) images. On a mouseover event over a link, the index number of the current li element is stored in a variable, and I want to use that variable to select the corresponding image.
(So <li> index:2 corresponds to <img> index:2) So in 'human language': on mouseover of li { var indexNumber = li.indexnumber change class of img[indexNumber] }
But I can't get it to work. I managed to store the 'current' indexnumber successfully in a variable: var indexNumber = $("li").index(this);
But I can't use the variable to select the corresponding <img> I tried: $('.slidemenuImgbox img:eq(indexNumber)').addClass('slidemenu_show'); But nothing happens
However when I do: $('.slidemenuImgbox img:eq(1)').addClass('slidemenu_show'); The image with index:1 is changed. How to use a variable in :eq() To see a 'live' example (With no images changing): [URL]
I have been trying to figure out how to find all instances of a certain word or phrase within an element and wrap those words in <span> tags or other html. I.e. change all instances of 'the keywords' to <span>the keywords</span>So far I've found a lot of references to :contains() but that will change the element the text is inside of rather than just the text itself
What's the best simple way to filter elements by their index similar to the nth-of-type equation an+b , regardless of parent and node type? Something like...
$("input").filter(":nth-of-set(3n+1)")
... to filter every third input element (3n) starting with the first one (+1).
I am trying to find and get the current index in a group of elements like so: var index = $(attribute).index(this); However, this returns -1 for all selectors I pass to it in the variable. Why is this? Is there another way to find a div's position within its container easily?
How to loop alternate elements in JQuery ? I see it has each function which loops each elements . But I want every alternate elments to loop starting from an index.is it possible in JQuery ?
I'm attempting to physically change the index order of the elements returned by a selector.For example, I'm attempting to make it so when someone clicks on a button, it swaps the index position of the element above or below it (depending on which button they press).I tried to assign it using something like $('.draggable :eq(2)').attr('index', 3)But it didn't seem to work. Is there a way to do it using jQuery, or do I have to change it within DOM itself? Or is there another way to do it?
I've been programming in jQuery for some time now, and for the first time, I came across an issue where I am writing out the location of a TD with an ID="step" to get the innerHTML with html(). I receive a null value, but when I use td:first within the chain of elements, it works.Has anyone experienced this issue or have any idea why this is not working? I've tried other TDs with diffirent IDs within the same row, and the same null result happens.Is there a possible limitation to the numbe of IDs used within the chaining of the $() call?
I have now been playing around for hours trying to figure this out. Swore I would not ask for a solution. Now I have a headache, so I am asking. On one HTML Page (From.htm) I have:
[Code]...
I somehow, need to get the values as shown in the handle function for each of Products shown in From.htm. Keep in mind the only thing I know from From.htm is the class names. I have no idea what products are listed or what the input names are. This table is generated by a third party. Assume that index.htm and From.htm are on the same website.
I have to wrap text in a td in firefox. My text is long single word like How can I wrap it to fit the width of the td. At the moment it is expanding the width of the whole table.
Here's what I'm trying to do: 1) I get reference to a div that's on my page: var theDiv = $("#" + divID); 2) Now I want to add a custom attribute tag to it, so for instance I want to add "winWidth" so that the div object now contains "winWidth=" for instance. 3) I want to set winWidth now since it's part of theDiv to a value
I'm not sure how to really do 1 + 2. I need to do this on the fly because some javascript logic later will add these attributes dynamically to the div... outside of what the original div had...I don't care what it had, I know I have it now in a JS variable and now I want to both add some new attributes to the div, and then set them on the fly. I don't need these attributes to be on my page, I just need them added to my div variable reference.
I searched about this problem over Internet and found the same result many times, I found this example on stackoverflow [URL] but this example didn't work in my project; I am making a toolbar with buttons that insert HTML tags around the selected text in a <textarea>, this exemple didn't work because when the user click on a button the selected text won't be selected anymore because <textarea> loses focus and selected text will be unselected, I am targeting Firefox and compatible browsers so you don't need to give me the IE code; jQuery codes are accepted;
