JQuery :: Can't Figure Out Physically Change Index Order Of Selected Elements?

Mar 31, 2010

I'm attempting to physically change the index order of the elements returned by a selector.For example, I'm attempting to make it so when someone clicks on a button, it swaps the index position of the element above or below it (depending on which button they press).I tried to assign it using something like $('.draggable :eq(2)').attr('index', 3)But it didn't seem to work. Is there a way to do it using jQuery, or do I have to change it within DOM itself? Or is there another way to do it?

Change The Selected Option Of SELECT Box When Value Is Known But Not Index

Updating A Figure When Items Selected In A Ddl

May 23, 2005

I have a form for taking customer details. Part of the form will allow the user to select some upgrades for their selected product. The upgrades will be displayed in a drop down list with their additional cost. The total cost of the product being ordered will be displayed on the page.

Could someone please advise me on the best way to automatically update the total cost displayed on the page each time an upgrade is selected? I am using PHP for the site but I'm assuming that javascript is the best choice for this.

Jquery :: Realtime Order Form - Change Form Elements Depending On Selection

Aug 25, 2010

I've been struggling trying to get a small order form to work the way I want it to. Here is a link to the live page: [URL] And here is the code in question:

[Code]...

I have two questions...

Question 1 How can I make this piece of script act a little smarter. Look at the order form, I'm catering for up to 4 people and providing lunch for them. If they select 3 people and the spaghetti bol for lunch, it's only adding $10 where it should be adding $30. Obviously this is simple multiplication but since the values in my form are prices it makes it a little tricky. I'm guessing an onselect on the first part of the form which changes the pricing of the other items would be the way to go, but how do I do this?

Question 2 The "Total Price" is placed before the <form> tag by the script. This is ok but it's not where I want it. How can I position this text elsewhere in the document?

JQuery :: Random Order Of Elements?

Aug 1, 2010

So, I have a document like this (leaving the formal body and head tags out):

<ul>
<li>Listitem #1</li>
<li>Listitem #2</li>
<li>Listitem #3</li>
<li>Listitem #4</li>
<li>Listitem #5</li>
</ul>

Now my plan was to make the order of the <li> elements random, so that at certain times it appears like this

<ul>
<li>Listitem #4</li>
<li>Listitem #2</li>
<li>Listitem #5</li>
<li>Listitem #1</li>

[Code]....

But trying to load the HTML it didn't work. Would you be able to explain me why and how this problem could be fixed? I have tried several alternatives, checked the error console all the time, but they all failed as well.

JQuery :: How To Alter Randomly Order Of TD Elements Of Table

Feb 20, 2011

I'm new in jQuery. I have to alter randomly the order of the td elements of a table. My initial idea is:
- Clone the original table (I can't modify it).
- Disorder randomly the elements of the cloned table.
- Show the cloned table.

The actual code is:
<html> <head>
<script src="[URL]"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
});
</script></head>
<body><script>
$(document).ready(function(){ .....

JQuery :: How To Match Two Index Numbers Of Different Elements

Dec 18, 2010

Currently I'm trying to create a menu with a mouseover effect on a link, which causes an image to display. All images are positioned on the same place, so the optical effect is that one image changes all the time. To achieve this I created an unordered list with the links / items in it, and I created a div with the (corresponding) images. On a mouseover event over a link, the index number of the current li element is stored in a variable, and I want to use that variable to select the corresponding image.

(So <li> index:2 corresponds to <img> index:2)
So in 'human language':
on mouseover of li {
var indexNumber = li.indexnumber
change class of img[indexNumber]
}

But I can't get it to work. I managed to store the 'current' indexnumber successfully in a variable:
var indexNumber = $("li").index(this);

But I can't use the variable to select the corresponding <img> I tried:
$('.slidemenuImgbox img:eq(indexNumber)').addClass('slidemenu_show');
But nothing happens

However when I do:
$('.slidemenuImgbox img:eq(1)').addClass('slidemenu_show');
The image with index:1 is changed.
How to use a variable in :eq()
To see a 'live' example (With no images changing): [URL]

Z-index - Layers - When "mousedown" Fires - Change The Div#msg Z-index Value From 1 To 3 To Be On Top

Nov 3, 2011

I have a problem with layers. In my example there's a link inside div#msg with 'z-index:1' and a overlay with 'z-index:2'. Now when "mousedown" fires, will change the div#msg z-index value from 1 to 3 to be on Top, so the link become a clickable link.

The question is, it is possible to make the link on top and open it with just one click?

This example can do that but won't open the link!

OK so say I have something like this:

<TD>
<p>Item A</p>
<p>Item B</p>
<p>Item C</p>
<p>Item D</p>
</TD>

So TD would be the parent and all of the <P>'s would be childNodes. I want to be able to click on each child and have it alert me its index # relative to the parent node. So 'Item A' should alert "0", 'Item B' - "1", 'Item C' - "2", etc.

Get The Start And End Index Of Selected Text

Jan 28, 2010

I require to highlight the text on the webpage. For that I am using document.getSelection() function to get the selected text and then replace the text with the highlighted text. It works fine but have some problem with that.

If user has selected a single word rather then a long text to highlight, and if it's a common word, It will find many words in the text and will highlight the first word it encounters no matter user has selected it or not.

So I need to have a function that returns me the start and end index of the selected text from the html text.

JQuery :: Change Z-index Is Not Permanent?

Feb 13, 2011

I have some code for one of my websites that when you click on a image button, it makes a div's z-index change and thus it disappears, revealing another div underneath it. However, when you click on any link in the page then, the first div reappears to cover the hidden div. Basically, how can i make it so jquery changes the z-index permanently (until the user refreshes the page)?

Here's my code:

*exitOutWelcome is the class of the button I'm clicking
*#top is the div that disappears by having it's z-index changed.
<script> // Change z index....
$(".exitOutWelcome").click(function(){
$("#top").css('z-index','-1');
});
