Javascript Run-time Error When Using A Server Certificate
Jul 23, 2005
I have recently set up a server certificate on a web site.
Under certain conditions I need to change the color of a html span
element.
I do this using the following javascript function called from the
onreset attribute of the form element.
function removeWarningMsg()
{
if (isIE) {
document.all.Warning.style.color = "<%=BACKGROUND_COLOUR%>";
}
return true;
}
This was working perfectly fine until I applied the server certificate
to the website. Now when executing this line of code the following error occurs:
Error: 'document.all.warning.style' is null or not an object.
I want to fetch the certificates details from "certmgr.msc" file, which is stored in "C:WindowsSystem32". Actually my requirement is fetch the user certificate from browser, which is imported in local system and fetch the key fields in client side. So, i want to read the certificates using javascript. Can you please let me know how to do that.
Can anyone give me the code or point me in the direction of a simple javascript certificate maker so that users can input there name and date so as to use on my site?
I'm using a javascript-based countdown timer that currently uses the client's system time to calculate the countdown. I assume that this line of code is where this is performed:
Code:
I'm trying to make the script use server time instead as some people may have wrong dates/times set or live in different time zones etc.
So what I did was use a bit of php:
PHP Code:
This gives a result but now the countdown is 30 days off. I am testing on my local xampp server (which also uses system time) so there should be no discrepancy. I also tried adding
Code:
But no difference.
I can post the whole script if required but it is reasonably long.
I have a file system where users upload files. Using PHP the file is time stamped and that time stamp is saved in a database. This has been going on for months so I have a lot of files with server times saved in the database. Recently the client asked if the date/time could be displayed according to the client's timezone instead of the server's. So, I need a javascript function that will take a PHP formated date string and convert it to the clients time-zone.
So let's say there is a file with a date/time of 07/15/2004 1:15 PM in central time zone and the client is viewing the file today in pacific time zone (2 hrs diff.). I need to show that date/time as 07/15/2004 11:15 AM. I need JS to take གྷ/15/2004 1:15 PM' and somehow convert it to གྷ/15/2004 11:15 AM'. Code:
Is it possible to display the current time directly from the server, and not client-side...I have people in different time zones trying to view the same page and the times (based on client) are coming up different.
What is the best way to get the client time to the server? Would I user http headers? (I dont know how to do that) or is ajax the best method? I could use ajax to send the unix timestamp to the server everytime a page loads and save the difference between it and the server timestamp as a session variable. sounds sensible?
I dont want to work with timezones but I do want to get the actual time set on the client's computer.
I am wanting to write some programs that connect in real time with a server. The problem is I do not have a server and really do not know a whole lot about servers. I do know the basics, it connects with sockets and uses a unique port but I do not know how to build one, So I turn here.
Is it possible to make a server using javascript? If not, then what language is used for servers? is it possible for JS to connect to a foriegn language server?
Anyone know where some good tuts are on this? I type in javascript server in yahoo and just get info on JSP and SSI's..
I have trying to save an update the xml file which is there in same folder in which HTML page is there. In HTMl page i have written javascript code to Save and Update XML on server.The code is like this
function Save() { var xmlDoc= new ActiveXObject("MSXML.DOMDocument") xmlDoc.async="false"
[Code].....
When i am accessing HTMl page on server from client and this function is called error 'Parameter is incorrect' is showing on line
I've been working to fix this error for awhile and have tried everything I can find on the web. I have the below code that pulls selected data from checkboxed rows in a table and puts it in to a 2-D array. It then takes it and creates an excel file that the user should be able to "Save As.." When I click the button which calls the below function, I get this error "Automation Server Can't Create Object" I have enabled ActiveX wide open on my IE for testing, tried several Microsoft fixes, no beans.
I have a perl script which is called via Ajax. It simply writes 3 values to a database. The code works fine (values get written successfully) but I get an "Internal Server Error" thrown. The Errorlog says "premature end of script headers". There was no problem with the application - it works as required and has for a few months - but I noticed the error via Firebug when testing something else.So I started stripping perl out of the script in an attempt to locate the problem .. and continued till I only had only had two lines left .. the shebang and exit .. I still get the 500 error. Running the script direct from a browser gives the 500 error in the browser window ... from the command prompt it's fine - ie. nothing in the apache errorlog.
There is nothing wrong with the server configuration - it has hundreds of perl scripts and has been running for years.
I am using jquery.ajax() to make a POST call to web server which returns HTTP 201 response for successful creation of object at server. Since 201 is a success I expect the success function specified with jquery.ajax to execute but instead it executes the error function specified with jquery.ajax. Here is how I am using jquery.ajax call.
I wanted to ask how it is possible to get error messages from the server till it is implemented in the remote method.What do you think is the less work intensive alternative.I also wanted to ask if i have two fields A and B, and the values of B depends on A. How do i make it with the plugin and the remote method ?I saw that there is a way of writing custom methods:URL...But how do i combine it with the ajax calls?
Its my first time using JavaScript I'm trying to make the utctime and localtime to appear, but its not showing what did I do wrong here? [code]Both this and the one I made didn't even show the current time
However, this piece of Javascript uses some other script which is large.
<script src = "./js/tmp.js".....>
This will work if the file "tmp.js" is local. However this reduces the portability of my *utility* Javascript as users have to have that "tmp.js" for every webpage they have (if they want to use it :D)
I thought of uploading "tmp.js" it to somewhere and change my code to
I'd like to implement a server socket in java: something linke the following example.
The problem is that the HTML has not the permission to execute instruction serverSocket = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/network/server-socket;1"]. createInstance(Components.interfaces.nsIServerSock et);
Question:
1 - how do I give it this permisison?
2 - one solution I thought was to put the javascript code in a firefox extension, to load, so it should have all needed permisison, but, How can I call a java script function define in an extension from an html page? - there's some particular syntax? ....
I have three different web pages with different domains, and I want to show some pages of one of the webs in the others.
I use an iframe for this and it shows it good until I have to call a javascript function in the iframe inside page, I have a permission denied because the domains of these pages are different.
So, the cuestion is:
Is there some way to call the javascript function of the iframe from the parent page?
