JavaProcessAlert Function - Processing To Display Automatically
Sep 28, 2010
How to get the JavaProcessAlert() function to have its effect displayed on the page before and while the ActualJavaProcess() is working. I assume it has to go out of the script block and then back in, but have no idea as to how to make it do so automatically. I hope the code is understandable.
Code:
<html><head>
<script type="text/javascript">
function JavaProcessAlert(){
var Update = document.getElementById('DisplayedText');
Update.innerHTML = "Processing";
<!-- Not sure of how to get from here to body and back to ActualJavaProcess()
automatically for "Processing" to display while ActualJavaProcess() functions. -->
}function ActualJavaProcess(){
<!-- Takes time to complete function -->
Update.innerHTML = <!-- Whatever the result is -->;
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<p id="DisplayedText" >Get Result</p>
<p><input value= "Start" onclick="JavaProcessAlert();" type="button"></p></form>
</body></html>

By luck I had somehow found a way to collect data with a form, perform
calculations with JavaScript and display the form and calculated
results on the same screen.
Now I can't figure out how to do that again. The only methods of
reporting the calculation results seem to display a completely new
screen/window.
I just want to collect some numeric input data with slider widgets or
text boxes for an alternate method and display additional calculated
results 'real time' as the slider is adjusted. If this can't be done,
after a text box entry is made. Ideally the results would display
without a 'submit' button click.

1- Need to display three values on the screen as the user fills a form: total, required deposit and final balance. I managed to display the total but I cant make the form to show automatically the two other values (deposit, final balance) unless I ask the user to click on buttons, which is not desirable since $ does not change automatically for deposit and final payment if user clicks on another radio button before sending the form.
2- Need to send to an e-mail the values of total, deposit and final balance, along with the choices the user made (ex: "Quad" and "Med"). I only managed to send the choices, not the totalled values.Here is the code I wrote (for demo purpose, I only put 2 choices vis-a-vis radio buttons):
[CODE]
<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">

I have a navigation link ("galleries") that 'onclick' displays a sub-menu of other links (the specific galleries).
This is on the home page of my site.When a user first views the home page, the sub-menu does not display, until they click "galleries".
On other pages of my site, the "galleries" link is one of the options in my navigation. That link takes users back to the home page which is what I want it to do.But what I'm looking for to happen is if the user is directed back to the home page from within another page on my site, I'd like the link on the homepage to automatically display the sublinks under the "gallery" link.This is so that users don't have to click "galleries" twice in order to see the submenu.
For example: If a user is on the 'about me' page, in the navigation there is a 'galleries' link. If they click it, it takes them to the home page. They would then have to click on 'galleries' again on the home page in order to display the sub-menu of individual galleries.I want them to show up immediately, but only when directed back to the home page from within my site. I think I do that with an 'if' statement, but I'm not sure of the syntax.

I'm using jquery file upload - when each file has uploaded, the name of the file appears, and I've added a check button:
<td colspan="2"><span class="ui-icon ui-icon-check"></span></td>
What I'd like to do is make jplayer fire off a "ding" sound as soon as each file is up.
For example (just to test)
$('.ui-icon-check').live('click', function() {
$(this).css("background-color","yellow");
});
needs an action, like a click or a mouseover or something. For each file that arrives, and therefore adds another instance of ui-icon-check, I'd like to fire an event. A weekend of googling has really only turned up Live Query from 2007, which works perfectly with
$('.ui-icon-check').livequery(function(){
$(this).css("background-color","yellow");
});
[Code]....
So am I totally mis-understanding the point of live, or just mis-using it?
I'm doing it this way rather than mess with the uploader code as he's updating the code all the time, and the more I can stay away from code code the better I think.

I recently wrote this slider function which automatically detects margin-top CSS values, then offsets the desired div, then simultaneously slides and fades the div in using jQuery's animate() function. It seems to work well with only one div. However if I set it up to slide multiple divs, I am having an issue I cannot figure out.
First, here's the example...[url]
You will have to few the example in Safari or Firefox as I have disabled the javascript in IE using conditional comments. You can view source to see my HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
My issue is this. The #header div slides in great. After a set delay, the #about div slides in. I want each div to slide in separately, one after another. However, when the #about div slides in, it seems to affect the #header element. When the #about div is in motion, I do not want the #header element to move.

I'm trying to make a time script for an app I'm making (this is not an HTML document; it's a .js file to be used with Titanium) however I'm having trouble getting the function to display and update.
function updateClock()
{
setInterval ( 'kiTime()', 1000 );
}
function kiTime ()
{
//Get current date and time
[Code]...
If I use kiTime() under the text field I will get the current time (or at least the time the app was opened), however if I call updateClock() it's blank.

I want to process a form with java script to check values of fields, etc and then have it format that dooment nicely for it's submission. in the book that I have that briefly touches on javascript, it says that newline characters(/r, /n) vary depending on the OS. Is this true? Is there any easy way to get around this without asking what OS they are running?

I wish to carry out standard form validation (i.e. is it a date?, is
there a value in the field, is it a number) using the onBlur event
rather than the onSubmit event. This (of course) leads to problems when
cancelling an edit as leaving a field to press the cancel button will
trigger the onBlur event and therefore the field validation. Is there
any way to know the destination field / button that caused the onBlur
event? In Ingres ABF/W4GL (mid eighties language of similar
functionality to javascript) there was an available attribute called
the targetfield so the code could run...
onBlur myfield =
{
if (targetfield != CancelButton) {
carry out validation
}
}
Is there something similar in javascript or will I have to program
round the houses i.e. onBlur records which validation to run and
onFocus runs the validation (unless it's a cancel button)?

This is my first time using jquery and Ive designed a small and simple fadein/out script that acts as a rollover on this navigation bar: [URL] Here is the code:
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".navbutton").not("#active").hover(function(){
$(this).siblings(".rollover").fadeIn(300);
},function(){
$(this).siblings(".rollover").fadeOut(300);
});
});
It works great. However, if a user quickly moves their mouse over the nav buttons and repeats the process, the rollover affect will fadein/ out over and over again until its completed the cycle the amount of times the user moved the mouse over the button back and forth. I wish to change this behaviour so that, somehow, the processing is aborted if it is noticed the mouse is not present after a fadeout is completed.

I have a snippet of javascript to check and make sure all the fields in a form are filled in. If they aren't then it shows an alert box telling you to put something in that form. If all the fields are filled in then it submits the form. That piece of code is this:
Code:
function checkFields() {
var errors = "no";
if(document.street_team.email.value == "") {
alert("Please enter an e-mail address..");
errors = "yes";}
if(document.street_team.name_first.value == ""){
alert("Please enter your first name.");
errors = "yes";}
if(document.street_team.name_last.value == ""){
alert("Please enter your last name.");
errors = "yes";}
if(document.street_team.loc_state.value == ""){
alert("Please enter your state.");
errors = "yes";}
if(document.street_team.loc_city.value == ""){
alert("Please enter your city.");
errors = "yes";}
if(errors != "yes"){
document.street_team.submit();}
}
Then i used a button to start the script. That code is this:
Code:
<button onClick="checkFields()">Join</button>
The problem is that if you don't have something filled in and the alert box pops up, once you click "ok" it still processes the form. Any ideas on how to keep it from doing that?
