Fast Text To Byte Array Function

May 13, 2009

I'd like the be able to use the native atob() function, but as I need the data as a byte array rather than text I would then have to convert it. atob() is much faster, taking only 1.2% of the time of the pure JS function. However, converting the decoded text to a byte array is very slow, so that the combination of atob() plus converting to a byte array ends up being almost twice as slow as the pure JS decoder (which converts the data to a byte array as it goes.)This is my current code to convert a string to a byte array. It's probably the simplest code, but it's definitely not fast.?

Code:
var bytearray = Array.prototype.map.call(text, function(x) {return x.charCodeAt(0);});

Sliding Imageslideshow - Which Moves To The Right When The Cursor Moves To The Right

Aug 8, 2009

I am trying to find if a script exists to have an image slide-show which moves to the right when the cursor moves to the right and so on for the left. We have managed to find someone else who has done exactly what she wants but it's in flash and I have no experience at all in flash. So I was wondering if anyone knows of a script which does the exact same thing? Below is the link to the site where they have managed to do what we are looking for in Flash: [URL]

JQuery :: 1.6 Release And Checkboxes ?

May 6, 2011

jQuery have now released version 1.6 in to the wild, but if you use it, you need to be aware of some compatibility issues.

The above-linked page goes through all of the issues, but I think that the one that will affect the most people is when getting the checked attribute from a checkbox.

Code html4strict:

Previously, the attr() method was used to get true or false for the checkbox. In version 1.6 though it just returns an empty string.

Code javascript:

With version 1.6 onwards the attribute called checked is empty, as it has no string value, so the attribute string will always be ""

You now need to use the prop() method instead when using jQuery 1.6.

Code javascript:

JQuery :: Function With Multiple Parameters As Argument In SetTimeout

Feb 22, 2011

I have written the following code (quite meaningless. Just to check why setTimeout is not working in a similar real-life code) to enable the user to input a given time interval (hh:mm:ss) when a p is clicked, and then alerting the user with the time entered in the seconds portion one second after the div is clicked. But it is not working. I think the setTimeout is the culprit, the way I am passing parameters to the function inside it, but don't know where exactly am I erring.

JQuery :: Two Submit-buttons - Only One Should Release Validation

Apr 14, 2010

I have a form, that uses validation with jquery, it contains 2 submit-buttons: one is 'back' the other is 'forward'

How it should be: By clicking the 'forward'-submit-button, jquery should validate, if clicking the 'back'-submit-button, jquery should ignore validation

But the problem is: jquery validates at each submit

Now my question: How can I get it, that there is no Validation, when I click on 'back'-submit-button, or in other words, that jquery can differentiate on whitch submit-button it should validate?

Settimeout Function In Elements Mouseout Function

May 10, 2006

I want to change the elements class name dynamically when mouse is out with respect to that element.I want to change the class name after some delay (i.e, i am using settimeout function).

var ulNodes = getElementsByClass("nice-menu");
var liNodes = null;
for(var i = 0; i < ulNodes.length; i++) {
liNodes = ulNodes[i].getElementsByTagName("li");
for(j = 0; j < liNodes.length; j++) {
if(liNodes[j].className == "menuparent") {
liNodes[j].onmouseout=function(){
timer = window.setTimeout(function (){
this.className = "menuparent"; //My problem is with //this line
},4000);
} } } }

I need to set the elemets class name to "menuparent" after some delay after the pointer moves away form that element.

-> When ever i say alert(this.className); in the setTimeout function, the alert box says undefined.
-> I can succesfully alert any where else in the mouseout function except within the settimeout function in mouseover function of that element.

JQuery :: Cycle Slider - Add A Custom Function Script For Each Slide?

Jan 4, 2012

I'm using the jQuery Cycle plugin to slide some posts in wordpress, each with it's own image. As the slider should take the whole width of the screen but staying at 600px height I tried for all means to use the fit, width, height options in order to make that happen, with no success at all (apparently, it wont enlarge the images if needed).

So I wrote this little function and managed to make it work by adding it INTO the Cycle script itself (I mean the cycle js file):

$slides.each(function(){
var $slide = $(this);
var ratio = (opts.aspect === true) ? $slide.width()/$slide.height() : opts.aspect;

[Code]....

Now, I'm not sure (thinking surely not, right?) if I can add code directly into the Cycle js file, legally, I mean, without infringing the licence. Is there a way to make that function work for each slide (as a "for each slide independently do THIS...") from the jQuery call to the Cycle script, through some of the options?

JQuery :: Own Slider Function - Automatically Detects Margin-top CSS Values

Mar 10, 2011

I recently wrote this slider function which automatically detects margin-top CSS values, then offsets the desired div, then simultaneously slides and fades the div in using jQuery's animate() function. It seems to work well with only one div. However if I set it up to slide multiple divs, I am having an issue I cannot figure out.

First, here's the example...[url]

You will have to few the example in Safari or Firefox as I have disabled the javascript in IE using conditional comments. You can view source to see my HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

My issue is this. The #header div slides in great. After a set delay, the #about div slides in. I want each div to slide in separately, one after another. However, when the #about div slides in, it seems to affect the #header element. When the #about div is in motion, I do not want the #header element to move.

Multiple SetTimeout In Function?

Oct 10, 2006

I'm not exactly sure why this doesn't work. I'm basically just trying a
simple approach at a slide down div.

function slide_div {

setTimeout("document.getElementById('mydiv').style.length=ཆp x'",1000);

setTimeout("document.getElementById('mydiv').style.length=ཐp x'",1000);

setTimeout("document.getElementById('mydiv').style.length=ཚp x'",1000);

setTimeout("document.getElementById('mydiv').style.length=ཤp x'",1000);

setTimeout("document.getElementById('mydiv').style.length=཮p x'",1000);

setTimeout("document.getElementById('mydiv').style.length=ླྀp x'",1000);

}

It seems like it just runs the last setTimeout line and pops out all at
once. I've even tried adding a=, b=, c=,. etc at the begining of each
line to no avail.

SetTimeout() Function Not Supported In An IE Version

Jul 30, 2009

does anyone know if the setTimeout() function in js has been just recently supported? i created an online demonstration of a product that uses this function to delay the playing of .wav files after various second intervals. i know that Opera doesn't support this function because when I click my button, all of the .wav files that i have in the function that runs behind the button play at once. i have probably 10 wav files that are played throughout the function, at various conditional statements. does anyone know if earlier (like REALLY old) versions of IE do not support this function? or maybe ie8 doesn't support it? i developed this and tested it in all major browsers except IE8 and any version earlier than IE6.
