So my problem is that i can't send form data in FF without page refresh (though in IE7-8 everything works smoothly).

I am attempting to create a profile page with PHP utilizing AJAX technologies as well. I need profile data to auto-refresh on the page when a change is made in the database but every 15-30 seconds intervals are fine too. I would really like to use AJAX/PHP for this because I think it will be good for me to know and learn.
I have checked the internet for this and all of the examples show a form select/combobox where you select a "User" and then it populates the information automatically in a div below.
But... I need AJAX or PHP to READ THE VARIABLE FROM THE URL instead of a form(Combobox) and ultimately refresh the data on the page with the results from the DB query in the php file.
I have a small app, my first real ajax project, which gives you details for product availability, for each day. The user selects a day (from a calendar) and then a time slot within the day. The app then displays how many slots are available for purchase, on that day, for that time... I wanted to refresh the data, every 5s, to provide slick real time availability info... but alas, when you change day (look at another day and time), the old timer still runs with the old arguments, and so it keeps resetting the 'details' panel to the previous day's details... how do I reset the timer? or delete the old one?

It's currently set up so that if a user clicks the login button it takes them to a check-login servlet which will return whether it's a valid login or not through a session.setAttribute("loginstatus","Valid"). Everytime the check-login completes, though, it redirects back to the index.jsp.
I want it to never leave the index.jsp page, but instead just refresh the main content cell in the table. Is it possible? I've never worked much with ajax or javascript before, but have considerable experience with java
Edit: the reason I post this here instead of JSP is because I think it may require javascript or some dynamic coding of some sort
I have several forms on a page, one for each "product". Each form is essentially a row with product information. I have a "Add to Cart" button. Now, I want this to work so that when you add a product to the cart, it does it without refreshing the page (AJAX?)
I found this [url] and it works to an extent... it updates the DIV for the first product only (and understandably)
I am using .ajax() to access cross-domain data using JSONP. Because I need to be able to cache the data I want to use a static name for thejsonpCallback function, so I have set the jsonpCallback option in the .ajax() request. However that appears to requires a global function whereas the auto generated function didn't (well maybe it did but that was all hidden from me).
I definitely need to be able to cache the results. Ideally I wouldn't have a global function handling the data. Is there another way to do this? If not what is the best practice way to go about using a global function these days and how do I provide it with the context of the object/module it was called from - which is where the data is needed?
I am trying to make a simple form that splits two words that a user enters has entered into a text box into separate querystrings. The user enters two words into a textbox and clicks submit. I then want use javascript to:
-Check the user has only entered two words,
-Trim any leading and trailing spaces,
-Split the two words into separate boxes and submit the data to a different page.

The first one, via ajax(), generates a 2nd one, based on the first ones' data with the .change() method. there is then a 3rd <select> - who's data will depend on choice of the second one although step 1 works, and i can generate the 2nd one, i still can't generate the 3rd one.
when i test the script on its own, both the 2nd and 3rd <select> fields are fine - but not via the ajax, which leads me to believe that the .change() from the 2nd one, isnt triggering the ajax call - its not being picked up (even the 'hello' alert isnt working).

I have a div where i store some status updates plus i have i have a textbox with a button where i type something and on button click (using ajax) i show what i typed before my div which works great , inside the div with the info i wrote i have a delete button which shows great on hover... at first it is in display:none; mode so on hover i show() it ..when it shows what i typed i cant see the button on hover and i have to refresh to see it..i guess its because the page has not refreshed to let jquery to find the new hidden button so it doesnt recognise it..

User may choose to save the details or add more details by clicking on Save or Add Row button resp. If the user clicks Add Row button, another row of fields similar to the previous row must append to the table. This should happen without the page getting refreshed, because i dont want to loose the data entered in the 1st row.

This text box shows different text at every refresh, the button click refreshes the page with OnClick="history.go(0)" -- this works fine. While clicking this link, the page shows more fields ( check box, drop down - things like that ). Once after choosing certain data in those check box and other input fields ! Clicking that button shows new data in text box - but this selected input are gone ?! How can I have that across refresh !! Am new to web programming. I know it is possible to do with cookies - storing the input and accessing but is there any other simple way ?!

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe general outline is that I have part of a page that deals with the addition, editing and deletion of upcoming events. Data is stored in a MySQL table. The form design (in traditional terms) would be very simple requiring three fields, one for the Event Name, one for the Event Description and one (hidden) to identify the UniqueID of the event in the MySQL table. (As the reference to make edits.) The table therefore has 3 fields. (There are more such as Timestamp, clientID etc, but they are not important here.)
I envisage three functions, one to add, one to edit and one to delete the event listed on the page. I have 3 php files eventadd.php, eventedit.php and eventdelete.php which speak for themselves.However, this is where I have the problem. What I have been doing is returning the xmlhttpresponse as a formatted HTML page for the two 'form' elements because whilst I can return unformatted text containing the relevant fields in one response, I don't know how to break that down into two sections for the innerHTML of the two 'form' elements that change.
Returning a formatted page does work, but as well as being slower than neccessary, I am also running into character-set encoding issues and I just know that I am not doing this properly. I can supply code and things, but I have a feeling that this problem will have come up somewhere and probably has a recognized solution because to me it seems to be such an obvious requirement to be able to populate several form elements with fields from one recordset.

When I open this window, it is always showing data put in last, it isnt refreshed. I wanted to open this pop up window, enter data and then click submit and make the data enter the database and then refresh the parent window. Every time I have done this, either the parent or the pop (or both) is showing old data.
