Apr 5, 2009I have a simple chat on a web page, but It wont refresh itself unless the user refreshes the whole page and I cannot force the page to totally refresh itself cause that would mess up the other things the user can do on the site. So I would need to make the DIV to "load itself again in for example 3sec". I believe this is quite common thing to construct, how to construct this?

Dec 12, 2009I have been using asynchronous requests for a long time. so the response was processed in a callback function. I thought of not using async so i made synchronous requests. The reason is that i dont have to have two more lines for checking the status and the onreadystatechange.... my synchronous requests would be like this...

so from the code you can understand that there is no need of a callback function and if conditions to check ready state... ... So there is no problem in the above code. The problem araises here... if i press the F5 (refresh) key or do a page refresh when the process is waiting for the response i get an (NS ERROR - firefox ( i have not yet checked that in IE browsers) (javascript error) though the process completes successfully. why?
Do we have to check whether the page is navigating away while in synchronous operation and abort the request? or what could be the reason for the error. This will not happen in async requests because that is also the reason for async...
Ajax :: Refresh Page Once - Show The Change In Content Caused By The Delete
Apr 1, 2011I have a php webpage that has a single input box. When ever an item is entered and the Submit button is pressed, the entry is added to a database. Additionally, the database table contents are read and printed directly below the input box and the submit button on the same page, using AJAX. Now, I have decided to add additional functionality to the page. I want a delete button for each entry displayed in the table below. For any button that is pressed, I want to delete that entry from the database.
Here's the problem: I want the database table contents that has been printed below to reflect this change. I can achieve the delete, but in order to show the change in content caused by the delete, the table below must either be replaced or updated via ajax. How can I achieve this? I have been trying to follow these examples using jQuery and Mootools respectively, but I've been having no luck. [URL] I don't want all the fancy looks, I just want the core functionality.

Mar 2, 2009I have made a page thats makes an AJAX call to the server gets the time and displays it. In the OPEN method i have set

I have set the last parameter as false as i am expecting a synchronous request so that time displayed should be consistent.
I am using new date() since the browser is caching my request and displaying the same output everytime as i dont know any other alternative.
The alternative so that browser does not cache the results and gives proper output each time.

Mar 2, 2011I have a div where i store some status updates plus i have i have a textbox with a button where i type something and on button click (using ajax) i show what i typed before my div which works great , inside the div with the info i wrote i have a delete button which shows great on hover... at first it is in display:none; mode so on hover i show() it ..when it shows what i typed i cant see the button on hover and i have to refresh to see it..i guess its because the page has not refreshed to let jquery to find the new hidden button so it doesnt recognise it..

This should happen without the page getting refreshed, because i dont want to loose the data entered in the 1st row.

Aug 10, 2010I have this very simple code and if I focus on the textfield or button the backgrond color changes to red. If I click submit, the page refreshes and the red background color is no more.
How can I keep this background color after a page refresh or submit? The php in the head with the parse thing is just to load some jquery and css files your can replace it with '<script src="jquery-1.4.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>' etc to test the code.

Feb 18, 2010I have the following problem: In wordpress I wanted to popup the login-page (wp-login.php) and i used the fancybox to generate an iframe. after clicking the "login" button i want that the fancybox is closing (thats not the problem) and i want to reload the whole page so that it recognizes that i'm logged in.
Now that is the problem .. I cant reload the index page when clicking the login button, because (i think so) the login document is in a iframe and is not able to reload the whole screen). I don't know the "reload" command, too, maybe load("index.php"); ? :D

Aug 10, 2010when reloading a page containing some jquery code based variables (which are: a variety of datepickers with set dates, and a number of form textfields containing calculated and formatted monetary values) it appears that those variables remain set. If I set a variable on the page (in a form field) then refresh the page I would like for everything to be cleared out (start with a clean slate). I work around this by setting standard values to all those fields and datepickers manually, but I would rather avoid that and clear all variables/set values, rather than assigning a value to all those fields and datepickers manually to remove previous usage traces of the page. I want the refresh to behave like a full reload. I read somewhere that loading jquery with a variable at the end of the url string would achieve that. While I know how to o that, I would rather use just jquery and make sure cache / variables are cleared each time the page is loaded. My main reason for that is I'd like users to take advantagef of google APIs (so they use a cached jQuery version, for faster page loading).
