JQuery :: Make Fields Already Preset With Random Text?
Jun 23, 2010
I have a site, im expecting a few hundred colleagues to sign up, they have the chioce to pick a user name and email adress of their choice, but to speed things up a bit I would like set preset usernames and emails in the fields so the user just has to press the enter button.
So for example, my 2 fields will be filled with something like Username: [mysitename]User[randomnumber] Email: [randomnumber]@mysite.com
where my site name is the actual name of the site, and the random number will be different on every visit.
I've been following this tutorial (and it works great)URL...Just cannot figure out how to make one of the Text Fields a Text Area with cols="45" rows="5".Every combination I've tried turns off the validation. I've already added completely different text fields from what are shown in the tutorial so I know how to change up the javascript I just can't get the Text Area right.
I have been looking around for a while on google and have come accross a few things but still am unable to find the exact codes. I am trying to have a page setup so that when the user clicks a button it will add preset text to a form box and keep the chronological order of buttons that are clicked. This is going to be used for my ambulance service to assist dispatch so basically i am looking for preset buttons that the dispatcher can click disp. and have the dispatch and time added to a list in the form box that can later be copied and emailed to our cell phones.
I'm having to write a program that generates a random number between 1-1000 and then allows the user to make guesses in a text box, answering to high or to low, until the correct answer is entered. I had the program working fine with using strictly prompts and alerts but when I tried to create a form I started having trouble.
<?xml version = "1.0" encoding = "utf-8"?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns = "http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>9.30</title> [Code]...
I am delving into the coding world and while I understand the basic principle of cookies, conditional statements, arrays, etc...I have looked around the web and this forum with little success. If the situation below is too complicated, I would really appreciate even a shove in the right direction regarding the logic. How could I show a preset counter which counts up from a preset, beginning number toward a preset, end number? I imagine the increment and speed is set be the difference between the two numbers and a timeframe.
 Assumptions:I would rather not set the increment but edit the end number to show a steady increase. As I update that number, the increment adapts dynamically. I would want the number/script to be useful, so it should not refresh to the beginning number on each page load (i.e. num=0). When a visitor comes to the page, it must seem like the counter has been steadily been increasing in their absence.Coke or Pesi did something similar one time regarding cans sold to date (doubt it was plugged into a DB somewhere but rather based on a steady sales figure) and it was pretty cool.
I've used Jquery Cycle to build thefollowingpage: [URL] As you can see the slides runnicelyin sequence with a clickable navigation. I would like to be able to run this slide show from a random starting slide on each page load, but for the slide show to remain in sequence and not load random slides thereafter. I'm sure this is doable - but the only random syntax I've found for this plugiin loads just random slides, out of the running order, which makes the navigation run randomly. I just want the starting slide to be random.
I have this order form where the customers can change the quantity by intput in a text field.I would like to have the text field changed with select fields, but doing so in the form, the script is not doing anymore. Can anyone have a look and tell me what to change in the scritp to accept select fields in place of the text fields.
I'm trying to make watermark labels for both my username and password fields. Currently the password field displays the password watermark in asterisks. I only want asterisks to be displayed when a user types in values. Here is an example of what my login looks like with the word password in asterisks when someone loads the page.
I am trying to make a random number between 1 and 1,000. I have a code that seems to work correctly, but I don't completely understand it and after looking online I think it might be wrong. Code: var rnd = Math.floor(Math.random()*999)
I'm looking for a script that with look at a list of zip codes and if the zip code the user enters is in the list it directs them to one page, but if their zip code is not in the list it directs them to another page. I don't know much about java, but I can modify scripts to meet my purposes. I just need a reference to scripts that do this sort of thing.
I wanted help for a JavaScript code. You might think I'm lazy for not writing it myself, but the truth is I am not a JavaScript coder. I just have a really simple website and I am trying to do something for which I know JS is required but I don't know how to do it. I've also searched around but couldn't find the appropriate code.
What I want to do is to make an html page load a different background image every time it refreshes.I will have a list of background images and I want to be able to add in this list, without having to change anything else in the codes after I do this (I think this is made by making an array of images and by putting .length somewhere in the codes, but I don't know exactly how I should do this).I already know how to do an external file (.js) and link to it from my .html page. Now I want the code to put in the .js file, and the code to put in the <body> of my .html file.
I want to use JavaScript to detect the number of times a key (for example, the A key) is pressed. Once it reaches a preset number (say 10 for this example), it will trigger two events:
1. Change the background color of a cell in a table from white to black.
2. A split-second (e.g., .01 second) later, submit the form on this page.I can't have the user hit the ENTER key to submit the form, so the JavaScript script will need to do this.
I have a background that is a shelf full of books, I wanted to figure out what I would need to do in order to make a random number of books pop out on mouse over (individually), and upon click have the book pulled out and be flipped through and read like a book. Would I have to recreate the library picture completely to make the random books moveable? And would I have to create the books that I want to move from the bookshelf?
how to pull the book out from the book shelf so that it looks like it's coming towards me and then to make it look like it has been pulled out. Would I need to use animation for this? What would be the parts to the animation required?
A little background on my knowledge of javascript: I understand the concepts of it and can understand it when I read it or its explained to me. I am looking to create something as simple as I can, I thought having a background and something basic like a few books be able to pop out. When I realized css couldn't do this and css3 wasn't supported by most browsers I turned to javascript and have been trying to figure out the steps I would need to do to do this specifically.
I have a problem created by my complete [rookie] status – only second time venturing into jQuery. I created a simple shopping cart using php and the PayPal buttons (1: buy now, 2: add to cart). The php back end does it great, it generates the table and the buttons and everything works just like it’s supposed to; Except, I forgot to add sizes. So I found out what I need to add, and I realize that the way the buttons work, I will have two different text boxes for size. Not very visually appealing, and since I’m not submitting this to the server before it goes to PayPal to pay, I cannot modify it with php the way I normally would. jQuery / javascript are my only hope of making this work. What I want to do:Have a single textbox where [size] is entered by the user.
Copy the value from the [correct] text box to the Value=”” section of the now hidden field in the PayPal form That way, no matter whether they [BUY NOW] or [ADD to CART] the right size is submitted to the PayPal shopping cart. This is the actual PayPal code that I’m trying to change
I got this far, and then decided to find how to insert the "enteredVALUE" into the right place in the input text field (what I called output) and I've not been able to figure out how to stuff it in there.
I have seen many character counter scripts (with feedback), to count the characters of a text box. However, I am trying to accomplish the same thing however need to make sure the combined value of two text boxes don't exceed a limit. Ie... there is a visual countdown of number of characters remaining (val) of the two text boxes combined, and an error pops up if it is exceeded.
I have 2 input fields. Input 1: Website URL Input 2: Website Directory
Firstly I would like the "http://" to automatically appear in input one and two and it can't be edited or removed. Then whatever is typed in input one, I would like it to automatically copy into input 2, and the user can't delete whats in input 2 without going through input 1. Then lastly the user can add data into input 2, without input 1 changing.
Here is an example: Red = Can't be deleted Green = Can be changed Blue = additional text to input 2 Input 1: http://www.yourwebsite.com/ Input 2: http://www.yourwebsite.com/extra/directory How to do this?
I have an upload form (which can be seen here: http://kmkwebdevelopment.com/formtest/upload.php). There are currently 5 "upload" fields, and I would like to have it so that if a person requires more "upload" fields, they can click on a + sign or something and it will make 15 more "upload" fields drop down (so they can upload a total of 20 files at a time). Does anyone know a good way to do this? (maybe Javascript somehow)?
I am trying to make a link dead until all fields are valid. Once they are validated and match the regex, the link should take you to its destination.
[Code]...
As of now, you can click the link and a lightbox will show up displaying verify.php no matter what the case; even if the fields are considered invalid values by regex. I want the link button (#various2) to be dead until all text fields match the regex assigned to them.
ALSO, for some weird reason, my link has to be pressed twice until it is able to recognize the urlstring in the js. So....when the viewer comes to my site, they will press the link once (nothing happens) and have to press it again for it to work.
I'm close, but the issue is that if the window is opened at a size that is SMALLER than the original image, it wont scale down to the smaller size until i first make the window bigger, THEN size it down smaller. The image itself is big (its fashion photography so it needs to be high res) and the js sets the minimum width at 1070. Id like to have the image as big as possible and then on page load automatically drop down to as low as 1070px if the window size is small. Here is the js:
I have a slideshow using jquery.galleriffic.js and jquery.opacityrollover.js, with the slideshow activated, all the input text fields don't allow space char or the use of the arrows left and right. With the two files (jquery.galleriffic.js and jquery.opacityrollover.js) deactivated the input text fields allo space char again. I'm sure there is some conflict between the two javascript, how can I found out which code is the reason of the conflict?
I have some fields that require no validation and some that require it. The valid css I made in green color. Now when I click on submit the validated fields show green and the non requested are left yellow that I use. Is there a way to somehow on submit make all the fields to have valid class?
I am using jQuery AJAX to submit a form. When the data has been validated successfully and processed, I want to clear the form, but I am unsure how. I have been trying to make it work for a few hours now.
I am showing status messages in the container below:
When everything was successful, it looks like this:
And here is the simple code I use to clear the text fields:
What I need is a way to check if everything was successful and if so, then run the code above. I tried to do it in a few ways, but it kept clearing regardless of the status.
