Make A Link Dead Until All Fields Are Valid?
Aug 18, 2011
I am trying to make a link dead until all fields are valid. Once they are validated and match the regex, the link should take you to its destination.
[Code]...
As of now, you can click the link and a lightbox will show up displaying verify.php no matter what the case; even if the fields are considered invalid values by regex. I want the link button (#various2) to be dead until all text fields match the regex assigned to them.
ALSO, for some weird reason, my link has to be pressed twice until it is able to recognize the urlstring in the js. So....when the viewer comes to my site, they will press the link once (nothing happens) and have to press it again for it to work.

the validator plugin for jquery is really cool, but i need the possibility to also mark a field as valid (not only disappear the invalid message), a simple "is valid" label would be sufficient..i tried to change the sources, but that seems rather complicated

I am using AJAX to populate a <div>, which is working very nicely, except for one thing:
My reset button in the resulting <formis dead.
When I put a breakpoint and trap the response in the javascript code, the returned html for the button looks like this:
<input type="reset" value="Clear" />
When I look at the response in Firebug console, there are no slashes, so I don't know what's going on. It looks like this:
<input type="reset" value="Clear" />
The main thing is, it doesn't reset the form elements. Has anyone ever seen this behavior before?

I know there are the event handlers onBeforeUnload and onunload, which work great 90% of the time.But what would happen if a user who was in the system had a power cut? Would it then be down to the database that stores who is logged in to go through logging users out who havent done anything for a while?

I've come back to working on something I built a while ago. Just a small function that I started that displays links by searching through a text area and grabbing all a hrefs. I want to try and build on it to check for dead links. This is the report code:
Code:
function report(){
document.getElementById("htmlDiv").innerHTML = document.getElementById("htmlArea").value;
a = document.getElementById("htmlDiv").getElementsByTagName("a");
for(i=0; i < a.length; i++){
//window.open(a[i].href)//the ( and ) characters signify that window.open is a function;
if(i == 0){
document.getElementById("report").innerHTML = "<li><a href="" + a[i].href + "" />" + a[i].href + "</a></li>";
document.getElementById("report").style.display = "block";
} else {
document.getElementById("report").innerHTML += "<li><a href="" + a[i].href + "" />" + a[i].href + "</a></li>";
}}
document.getElementById("reportNumber").innerHTML = "Total: " + i;
}
I was thinking maybe I could encorporate the following into this maybe?
Code:
function UrlExists(url) {
var http = new XMLHttpRequest();
http.open('HEAD', url, false);
http.send();
return http.status!=404;
}
The above makes sense to me as I think it is saying as long as its not 404 its ok. I want to incorporate something like that so my report displays links and maybe strikes them through if they return 404 or are dead.

I have an upload form (which can be seen here: http://kmkwebdevelopment.com/formtest/upload.php). There are currently 5 "upload" fields, and I would like to have it so that if a person requires more "upload" fields, they can click on a + sign or something and it will make 15 more "upload" fields drop down (so they can upload a total of 20 files at a time). Does anyone know a good way to do this? (maybe Javascript somehow)?

I have a site, im expecting a few hundred colleagues to sign up, they have the chioce to pick a user name and email adress of their choice, but to speed things up a bit I would like set preset usernames and emails in the fields so the user just has to press the enter button.
So for example, my 2 fields will be filled with something like Username: [mysitename]User[randomnumber] Email: [randomnumber]@mysite.com
where my site name is the actual name of the site, and the random number will be different on every visit.

I want to create a link which doesn't takes you to anew page but just expands to show it's information . Exactly like the one in FAQs where you click the question and the page expands to show you the answer.

What I want to do is make a link appear after a user clicks a link, which would make a new tab open. So basically, the user clicks the link and it opens in a new tab, and back on the website a link appears.

I started using jQuery yesterday so im a noob. I have a navigation bar, and i want it to display a background image on the active menu item. (Like the top most menu on this website, it has a little blue underline)
[Code]...
Line 2: It loops though all the <a> tags in an <UL> with id nav_prim. (The <a> tags are inside of <li>'s in the <ul>.
Line 3: I check to see if the <a> tag's href atribute is the same as the URL of the page, if it is
Line 4: i want that specific <a> tag's background-image to be images/nav_bg.gif.
I can't get it to work. In firefox i get the error " $("ul#nav_prim a")[i].css" is not a function.
Why is that? Can anyone please help me? As i've said im new to jQuery and Javascript in general aswell.

I'm new to jQuery, but learning fast, and loving the new functionality!I'm using a Flash upload component that all works fine, and once it's complete (file uploaded) it calls function.I'm running the Flash upload in a modal (nyroModal - very cool!). The link below does what I need it to do - navigate to a new page and re-size the modal:<a href="test2.aspx#blabla" class="nyroModal">Ajax Filtering Content #test</a>What I need to work out is how to make the JS function above work in the same way as this link. I know very little JS, but I think the 'class="nyroModal" needs to be part of the link in the function some how??

I have a CSS that defined the button as an image, and on hover the button changes.
However, on hover, I'd like there to come a drop down that for example link to test 1, test 2, test 3.
